wait a minute, a movie would bring francise. oddworld toys, oddworld cerrial, oddworld posters, oddworld adds, oddworld board games and much more!
shore we already have some of these but it would be great to have all this merchindise. but that is a bit chilling. i like the way oddworld is, maybe a global movie and little merchindise would be good but i would hate just living in a world filled with oddworld. it wouldn't be so odd. |
a movie. The game would be xbox-oriented anyway, and since I have a pc, I can't get it anyway...

I would like to see an AO movie first, to see what would happen, and to see what the audience who have never heard anything about Oddworld will think of it. :

Movies Rock!

Hey, if we get enough voters we could show this thread to Lorne or something.. now about 75% are voting for the movie.
Okay, that's just me blabbering, it wouldn't work. Aren't you guys afraid that a movie would make Oddworld like.. too merchandised? |
Well, CarboN, considering that Abe's Exoddus brought us Mudokon boxer shorts, I don't think the Inhabitants shy away from merchandising over any kind of anti-corporate or mass-production philosophy. If they check out a company and its environmental and employment history is clean, Oddworld doesn't seem to mind making a few buck with stickers and such. They did team up with Microsoft, after all.
By the way, The Hulk did actually have a lot of merchandise and toys. There were big foam hands that made smash sounds when you punched, and there were quite a few action figures (like ten different Hulks, the Absorbing Man, and a big mutant dog). Personally, I do think Oddworld could knock Pixar off its perch. While Pixar makes CG movies that are for kids but pseudo-clever enough for adults, Oddworld's serious storylines and bizarre characters would rope in that young adult moviegoing demographic that skips over watching Finding Nemo, etc. Although at the moment I don't know if movies are on the near horizon, as Lorne seems to be on some tangent about CG-produced television shows. Considering that he was such a supporter of that video game sitcom on UPN, which I think we can all agree sucked hard, this worries me a bit. Then again, if we end up with Oddworld: The Series instead of Oddworld: The Movie, I'll still watch it... |
id say MOVIE because the game's have got so boring
