And even if Stranger caught abe, how would Lorne make more games about Abe!
|
Having Abe in the game would just be horrible. And why would Stranger help the Cartel? I know he's a bounty hunter, but seriously, it would be sort of out of character if suddenly he decided to help the Cartel by hunting down Abe.
|
And what has Abe ever done to stranger?

Really! I have to look harder too!

RABBITS!!!!
In the Sleeping Quareters of Wolvark Docks, if you look reeeal careful, you'll find bunny slippers.
-Alien Guardian |
Hi. Hope this is the right thread.
I zoomed in on the "Port Authority" logo in New Yolk City the other day. It was very familiar, but I can't place it. (It's low resolution.) Does anyone recognize it? |
Found one!
Actually, this is a bug..The second lone Glocktigi you meet, (the one where you can stay on those crates and be relatively safe except for an occasional sliming) If you take your time and don't flog him hard enough to chase him away- kill him by chewing at him slowly. When he finally goes down- hop down and as you move close, you'll notice the body will slide along the floor- carefully nudge the body toward the cliff and he'll pick himself up briefly just before he falls.
As for the 'baby bottles' I'll tell you where to look- in the locker room near the bathroom- there's a cluster of these bottles on a shelf with a cabinet above. I've also discovered that if you swim into those big doors entering the dam and take out the baddies inside from the water- the Steef complains a bit about being 'tired of swimming, where my d@mn boat?' |
I guess this isn't really a true easter egg, but its kind of cool anyway. If you look at the "wagons" (thoes big semi looking things), they are part of the Overland delivery system. Overland Stages is the stagecoach company used in just about every western movie ever made. I just thought that was a nice tip of the hat to the old western films.
|
Ok, here's some:
One of the Clakkerz once said to me over the microphone to take a chill pill - I don't know if this is a referance to MO or just a coincidence that he said it. I heard a Clakker say he wanted a nice cold brew - as before I don't know if this is a referance to AE or not. In the CG movies whenever a piece of paper is placed on a desk (like the Blisterz Booty wanted poster, Strangers operation papers, and the steef head poster) a fly always seems to buzz across the screen - I'm not sure what it's supposed to mean or represent though. And finally when you're in the dam near the end of the game if you look at the red curtain things hanging down they seem to have the Magog Cartel logo on them, suggesting that Sekto is part of the Magog Cartel. |
In the first forest level, you should see 2 birds in at the start ,that were originaly to appear in MO. I tyred looking at closer with the binacolas, It's like watching Animal Planet realy. I tryed to catch them with the Bolamite Web, but nothing happend. It was cool to see them.

Nother bug-invisable wolvarks
You know in the Wolvark facilty- break open the second sleeping quarters door first and take those two wolvarks. Then look for a bolamite crate and use it to hop up on that divider between rooms. The first sleeping quarters will be-empty! Break the door and watch the crowd of wolvarks appear out of thin air
|

*sorry* |
I just found one: I had just defeated Lefty Lugnuts and I talked to a Clakker and he said we should split a delicious can of spooce soda to celebrate (reference to spooce).
|
:
Oh, and scrabinator, yes, those are the birds on page 226. Also, in the wolvark facility, there are bunny slippers in one of the shelves. |
I saw the birds, but never thought of it as an easter egg. I know of none but in one o the movies, the doc one, you can see green paded walls, just like munches oddesy!
|
Another sort-of reference: The glowing green mushrooms in the cave before you get to New Yolk City were also in the Almighty Raisin's cave...at least, they look the same to me.
(Edit: I was thinking of production art of the Raisin's cave. In the actual movies in Munch's Oddysee, the mushrooms have shorter stems, but still look too flat to be spooceshrubs. The ones in the art are identical to the ones in Stranger, though.) There's also a possible easter egg in the New Yolk City port authority and in parts of the dam. There are little scrolling message screens that are reminiscent of the ones from the Abe games, but the messages scroll by so fast that they are hard to read. I think one of them says something like "News: Rooster loses pecker." |
Well, when you go past the first grubb-village. You know the one where the scream and run away from you. When you go past it, you get to the smnall area with the slegs. When you go past that area, and the turn around, you'll see the signs of the normal slogs, with a bone. Guess that could be a reference to the abe and munch game.
|

|
Yes, I've noticed whenever there are slegs (Except when Wolvarks make them appear), there are always slog warning signs.
|
There are Harvester vehicles in the game! (check out the MO section ofThe Art of Oddworld Inhabitants) They've been converted into bulldozers, though.
The LED screens in the Port Authority and various places in Sekto Springs Dam read pretty much: “News … Rooser ends up being pecker … Egglings not all they're cracked up to be.” “Outlaw Bridge removal program … No bridge for U!!” I'm gonna have to keep an eye out for the baby bottles and bunny slippers, though. It also seems as if I've missed a lot of Clakker-speak, even though I speak to them endlessly trying to catch everything. I do so love those birds in the Forest, though. |
:
|
I saw that harvester machine too! It's in the Eugene Ius rescue mission, where you have to bounty the shooters and mortar-firers on top of the scaffolding.
|
:
I remember one. After leaving the temple and Eugene Ius, you end up in a huge temple with (I think) a big statue of a Grubb with it's arms crossed. Have Stranger talk to himself and he'll say "Smells like a dead Slog in here." I know, I know, I'm not the first to mention a slog refrence. BUT. If I had more time, you know I would think of something better. But I gotta go. |
The first one I found was outside on the ground somewhere, but I can't remember where. In a subsequent play-through I found one in Blisterz Booty's compound, inside a barn. Remember where the tractor-type thing is? It's upstairs from there, I believe.

While i was playing Stranger for the second time I found what i think could be an easter egg. Or it could just be the strangness that is the oddworld universe. I found a pair of underpants that say "Josh" on them, maybe this is a reference to someone at OWI?
You can find the underpants when you try to cross the bridge that leads to Buzzardton and then 2 outlawz fire rockets at you. Well once you've bountied them go round the side to where the bridge blew up and you should see a mattress, next to it is a pair of underpants that says what i can make out as "Josh" if you use your binoculars you can read it a little better. Speculate as you wish, lol. |
Might be Josh Heeren. He was assistant producer on the game, as well as producer and assistant editor on the pre-rendered movies. Maybe he has monogramed undergarments, and OWI wanted to include this hilarity in the game.
Or maybe one of those mortars is just called Josh. :p I found a cardboard cut-out Outlaw Shooter! In the waters in front of the beach the Freely Gang are tossing expired explosives about on, there are three explosive barrels about halfway across the river. Leaning up against one of them is a flat Outlaw! I couldn't quite understand what it was doing there - maybe target practice for the mortars? |
i once found a shoe in the wolvark-facility i think. Lol, it was just a shoe, laying next to a table. It looked so hilarious, and the i shot the shoe, and it dissapeared.
