Lantra...you are really looking too much into the game. Fuh-Reeeky!

If boombats blow themselves up, it would be like bees; one animal sacrificing itself for the good of the species. But I'm sure it doesn't happen too regularly. |
Good Point Nate...it is still sacrificing innocents Esus, there's no two ways around it.

Erm Lantra? You seem to have mis-read your own quote. It says Incarcerate, not incapacitate. And Incarcerate means to confine or imprison, and you dont need to technically be alive to be confined, or you could be on the brink of death and imprisoned.
I dont see why people care if Strangers not all hippy-hippy. Whats the matter? He's a BOUNTY HUNTER. Lets play as the darker character for a change |
:
Boombats eat nitroroots, glyceringrass and sulphur. It would be an evolutionary irregularity for them not to use this for explosive potential, and though I see that Stranger is using Boombats for his own ends rather than theirs, it can easily be said that killing a sentient, intelligent creature is far worse than killing a mere animal (not necessary my views). OWI have tried to make it known that they've never considered Glukkons, Sligs or Outlaws as being ‘bad’, just different species with their own views, cultures, history and needs. Incapacitating them peacefully is clearly a better reflection of your Quarma, and if you're firing explosive bats, then this is pretty tricky. If you want to be good, don't use Boombats. It's not as if you couldn't play through the last three games being hack-happy and crunching Mudokons left, right and centre. EDIT: Not very many bees die when they sting something, so Stingbees are by no means necessarily in danger. |
Is there going to be Quarma in this game, or will Moolah be the scale to compare (ie more Moolah if you keep everyone alive)?
In any case, Lorne has said that Stranger is more morally ambiguous than Abe or Munch. |
:
Edit: Nate you beat me to it! :

I'm glad one can choose not to use certain types of ammo, if Quarma was implemented into the game so that you gained good Quarma by using ammo that doesn't die or keeping your ammo alive that would be awesome and also more in keeping with past Oddworld games. |

Yes and No, seeing as on Oddworld there is no Good and Evil, merely different sides. Thus we'll play as industrials at one time or another, but never a 'baddie'.

I don't think Stranger is urged to kill - I think he just sticks out for number one and does he needs to do to do his job and get paid. The line between ‘good’ and ‘bad’ in the game have been vastly blurred.

I'm loving what OWI have done with the live ammo, it looks so cool in the card I got. Well done OWI! |
None of the live ammo is killed by Stranger.
The boombats and their upgrades live in sulphur caves and eat a lot of sulphur and nitrous. If they were not used for ammo, they would eventually self destruct into one big boom. Thus, their name Boombats. The upgraded Slug has the same problem. It's life span is very short and it's very happy to help out. Fuzzles, bolamites, stunkz, chippunks, stingbees all go about their business after being shot from the crossbow. |
Thanks for dropping in Alf's Assistant!

Ewww, so the Riot Slugs do literally fragment... that's pretty nasty.
But thanks for the clarification, Alf's Assistant. If the Boombats and Slugs are willing to sacrifice themselves for Stranger then it takes away the edge of their ‘innocent’ stance. |
yeah, I've read this whole thread and
i'm still lost. anyway, ignore ZRW and run amuck with animals squished into your ammo mag. sounds fun to me |
Wow thanks for clearing that up AA...
so the ethic is saved :p |
