Bwah ha ha! First to vote for R.E.M. I might have guessed as much. I do so love being out of the ordinary.

Note: If R.E.M. hadn't been there, I would've gone with RHCP. They're not diverse, per se, but they have a kind of. . . musical bipolarity. Hee hee. I like that term. Copyrighted, suckahs!

Also note: Pearl Jam is excellent as well. I have Elderly Woman Behind a Counter in a Small Town on a CD I burned, and the lead singer's voice in it is one of the best I've ever heard from a rock band.

In addition: If I were going to go for someone funny, I would pick Aquabats. Great stuff there.

Err additionally: The Cranberries. One word: Zombie. One of the greatest songs ever. The lead singer, I think, is Sinead O'Connor's sister or something. Zombie is basically an anti-war song. I think somebody who grew up in Ireland is well qualified to write songs against war.

Insert transition here: The Beatles were great too. Their style changed so much over time, they represent like a third of all that rock has ever been. I lot of their stuff I don't even think of as rock. Were they not extremely shibby?

I voted for RHCP, i wanna play the bass like flea (he's one of the best i think :D)

He good if you're into slapping. Which I absolutely hate. So John Myung continues to be my idol.
I so wanna be Korean like him. ... I mean... A virtuoso bass player.

Sorry to spam but I must boast my gold Circle tickets to seeing them next year! Yay!

Um. Yeah. I am a fan of the old slap bass myself, so i am teh fannz0r fo teh Rde Hto Cilih Preppes.

Iron Maiden still own all of them though

Majic 12-01-2004 02:23 PM

RHCP may have been the best band in the world at one point, but I feel their latest efforts to be rather lacking. "Can't Stop" has annoyed me ever since I first heard it.

TheRaisin 12-01-2004 02:36 PM

Curse you, dancing banana man! What's this Gold Circle anyhow?

Yeah, most of RHCP's latest stuff has been quite creppy. Either they're in a musical slump or, most likely, they're just past their prime.

Rincewynd, you have the coolest name of any member of these forums.

Their new stuff used to entertain me. Now i find it dull and monotonus. Except for the last track on By The Way. Me likey sad song.

Fez 12-02-2004 11:15 AM

By The Way is my fave Chillis song. It rocks my socks.

Mojo 12-02-2004 11:33 AM

Anyone ever heard of Dream Theater? The guitarplay is SO wonderful! Dream Theater RULES! Hurray for John Petrucci!

Fez 12-02-2004 12:08 PM

I believe Fax is a good fan.

Whats the best songs, i'll have a lookie.

Mojo 12-02-2004 12:51 PM

The songs I like:

Metropolis, GREAT song
Take the Time, funky song.
Voices (part of a trilogy of songs, the first two match perfect, the third is out of place, it's a weird acoustic song), it has a KILLER solo, almost at the end.
Lost without you, just one big, extremely beautiful guitar solo
Space Dye Vest, easy, melancholic song.

Unfortunately, I own but one CD (although I'm gonna buy one more tomorrow), so I don't know many songs.

The Glass Prison.
Best. Song. Evar.
I mean it. I cream every time I hear it. :p

Also very excellent songs are:
Home
Learning to Live
The Mirror
Metropolis, Part 1

They're my favourite band. They are sometimes very difficult to get into, because they cover such a wide range of styles, from very heavy metal, to light hearted songs that could be considered pop (if it weren't for their ability to block unintelligent people from understanding their music).

Mojo 12-03-2004 07:12 AM

Amen to that, Fax!

Bought the Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence today!

Still listening it, and yeah, The Glass Prison Rox!

Joe the Intern 12-03-2004 03:48 PM

Pearl Jam = music for dulltards.

I have to import Dream Theater albums because you can't get them in New Zealand. So far I only have Images and Words, and Awake, which my parents brought home from America for me. I'm going to start importing more after I finish my Iron Maiden collection.

Fez 12-05-2004 02:07 AM

I'm starting my Radiohead collection:D So far I have The Bends and OK Computer, the two best albums, hopefully i'll get the rest for xmas. I want Kid A, apparently one song is supposed to be what it sounds like to sing in a womb......

Fez 12-05-2004 09:28 AM

Kid A, the title track.

Rex Tirano 12-05-2004 10:10 AM

Dreamtheater is okay (from wha Alpha has sent me) but HIM is good as well.

*hides newly bought cds

Mojo 12-05-2004 11:17 AM

Fax, what do you think of Voices (Awake), doesn't it have a killer solo? And have you ever heard Lost Without You? (I have no idea on which album THAT one is)

Oh yeah, Misunderstood is also pretty good.

TheRaisin 12-05-2004 11:57 AM

Pearl Jam is awesome, yo. Best not be dissin'.

Although the only song by PJ that I've actually listened to is Elderly Woman Behind a Counter in a Small Town. . . but going by that song, they're a great band! :p

Majic 12-05-2004 12:35 PM

They have quite a few good acoustic/folk songs

I like Voices, I don't think the solo hits me as much, as I can't even remember it. I love that insanely fast one in the middle of Erotomania though. I have heard Lost Without You, as I downloaded it. I've listened to it twice, and it bored the shit out of me. I'm just not a fan of slow solos. I haven't heard Misunderstood. Unless it is on 5 Years in a Livetime, as I just remembered I have the Live in Tokyo/5 Years in a Livetime DVDs.

Mojo 12-06-2004 03:40 AM

Oh yeah, that's right, you said you only had Awake and Images and Words.

Misunderstood is on 6 degrees of inner turbulence.
Hmm, the Glass Prison is also on that.

I downloaded it after a friend recommended it. Thankfull he did, because I had downloaded some Dream Theater a while before that, and most of them had been songs that weren't even DT, so I went off them, not realising how cool the band actually was.

if you ask me (well your not but i am asking myself) a song inside a womb is kind of creepy, and another thing.....HOW DO THEY KNOW THESE THINGS......technology never ceises to amaze me.
