I must admit I wanna see more Cybermen. They've always been my favourite enemies and I want to see if this Cyberiad stuff works or not.
The Cyberman have had more character/ species development over the course of the show's run than any other I think. They've slowly become less and less human until they're basically robots which is pretty much what you'd expect if you think about the cyber ethos, 'survive at any cost'. |
Me too. Although I'm not very keen on their new design.
The last Cyberman episode (Nightmare in Silver) was great though. |
It was quite interesting, I thought it could have done without the children though.
|
Children in Doctor Who is always a bad thing.
I disagree about the design, I think the new Cybermen are more terrifying than ever. They're basically unstoppable, now. :

Really enjoyed tonight's episode, even though objectively it was pretty 'meh'. I think the music in series 8 is a big step up and very reminiscent of the golden years of series 1 and 2.
This episode also made me notice how much Clara has developed as a character. All the way through series 7 she was just a cardboard cutout that could do anything when the plot called for it. While there's been some of that in series 8, she has developed into a pretty well-written character by Moffat's standards. She actually has personality. I also hope to see Danny again because even though he's only been in a few episodes he's way more interesting than Clara. Also the next episode looks awesome. |
Capaldi is a great doctor, Clara is a terribly written companion. For the first few episodes it seems that she'd just hump the leg of the first male humanoid she saw until eventually she got stuck on Danny's. I also disliked the most recent episode, as I do with every episode, where the main point is to make humans question their humanity, or make the Doctor realise that humans matter. This episode had both.
I greatly enjoy Doctor Who and have watched it since I was a kid, but sometimes rose-tinted glasses aren't enough. |
Nah, this episode was pretty good. I was worried there was going to be a "Doctor comes and saves the day by fixing everything!" moment, but instead it just turned out that everything was kind of OK on its own. It's the kind of dissatisfying ending that's making Dr Who a dull drama rather than an exciting sci-fi monster-of-the-week show. I definitely don't like the shift, but I can see why so many people do.
Basically, it got worse as it went on. This is the first episode I've really loved Capaldi's Doctor, though. It really let him shine out as an actor. Also who thought it was a good idea to reuse the dumb teenage girl character? I mean, fuck. |
She's actually pretty good compared to the last few child characters on the show.
|
I can't believe people enjoyed last night's ep. I'm I the only one?
It's seriously one of the worst Dr Who episodes I've ever seen. I know Doctor Who is about suspending your disbelief now and then but holy crap. |
Nah, it was good.
|
Care to tell me why? Or i'm I just to take your opinion as fact?
I thought the episode's premise was strong. But it was completely ruined by the end. I mean, Holy crap. What a spectacularly shite end. It was just so ridiculous. Even for Doctor Who. Again. I know a lot of sci-fi is about suspending your disbelief. But the moon is a egg? No that's just fucking stupid. Get out. Oh and of course the creature is "last of it's species" I'm getting so sick of Doctor who using that crap in every situation possible. It's getting boring. And what was the whole deal with bringing a little girl with them? She was just annoying and a waste of time. "i'll post these pictures on Tumblr!" lolololololol a timely joke for the kids. ha ha... Fuck off. Despite all of that. I did liked the setting, the "spiders" were a good monster which did look pretty intimidating and the Doctor just stopping everything and letting everything play out was a nice idea. It's was interesting sure, and was certainly a change. But again, the ending was so bad; It didn't even matter. I still think it was one of the worst yet. Not THE worst mind. That honor still belongs to Love and Monsters. Closely followed by Dinosaurs on a Spaceship and Fear Her |
When you look at your complaint, it maybe takes up the last 5-10% of the episode. By that time I'd already enjoyed myself enough that I still think it can be called a good episode, albeit with a bad ending.
Also, I love how this moon ended up being more bleak and alien than lots of the places we see in Doctor Who. |
Perhaps it did. But I didn't really enjoy it when it was building up as well.

The moon being an egg is weird, but parallel dimensions with Cybermen and Daleks living in the gaps is totally fine? Okay, then. There was nothing wrong with the ending when you consider some of the stupid shit that's happened in the past.

And yes. Peter Kay was funny. He was probably the best part of that entire ep. :
Whatever. All I can say is, some ideas are hit and miss with me. And can really effect my enjoyment of the episode. Not just Doctor Who. Bloody anything. |

To be fair the azorbaloff episode was the result of a competition for like...seven year olds so chill.
|
No, the monster design itself was a winning submission by a nine year old for a Blue Peter competition.
Also, if I remember correctly, the episode was broadcast on my birthday, so yay. |
I submitted to that competition actually. My design was basically a Dalek with the head of a slig...yeh.
|
Good episode was good. Solid B-. Next episode looks even gooder.

Despite my intial skepticism for it, I actually quite enjoyed this episode, besides whiney Clara being whiney. It even had an Empty Child reference in it which is always fun.
The only issue I'm having is seeing comedians playing roles in episodes as it takes me out of the show, seeing Frank Skinner as the train engineer and Chris Addison at the end of The Caretaker episode. Strange considering how I enjoyed the Absorbaloff episode with Peter Kay, but I guess it's the way they're presented. A comedian playing a ridiculous monster is a much better choice than a comedian playing an engineer who can understand parts of the TARDIS. |
I personally loved Frank Skinner as the engineer. Maybe that's because I like Frank Skinner... But I thought his character was rather creepy yet likeable at the same time. I thought he was a bad guy most way through it honestly.
And yeah, I enjoyed the last ep a lot. I thought the monster was pretty scary (for Dr. Who standards) and the acting throughout was top notch by pretty much everyone. Aside from Clara. I found her really fucking annoying in this episode. |
You're all Daleks |
Flatline has so far been my favorite episode in this season. I really enjoyed it.
The monsters was pretty damn terrifying and Clara was actually really likeable too. Also. Tiny Tardis is cute as hell. I want one. |
I've got two. I actually have.
Yeah it was a good one, kind of reminded me of misfits. |
So er. The last episode was decent.
I'm actually really curious about the finale. Who is that woman dammit. |
it’s your mom lol
|
No, it was shit. Seriously, that felt like an episode that should've been on CBBC. Somehow we've had a series with no bad episodes and now they've gone and ruined it. It made me physically angry. They could have at least made it the Vashta Nerada or some shit. Fucking pissed off, mate.
Also, as intriguing as that woman is, and despite how good the episodes themselves are, the story arc feels rushed as hell. Seriously half-assed. |
