First order of bussiness, installing pistons in the Montecito's waterfall so it can be turned on and off! Been looking for ways to do that since I made the damn thing!

DarkHoodness 07-02-2011 06:12 PM

Made this on a whim early last month - And finally got rid of it 'cause it was out of place. Boom. Maybe I should've put the TNT inside it before lighting the fire though.

DarkHoodness 07-03-2011 12:50 AM

*double posts* Can't sleep. Made this.

Gotta think about it more, I guess.

Splat 07-03-2011 03:21 AM

1.8 is apparently going to introduce spikes, which you could probably use instead of fence.

It's a shame that 1.8 is gonna introduce new geography - specifically underground ravines and NPC villages - which we won't get on the current server.

enchilado 07-03-2011 03:43 AM

They'll be found if we explore further, won't they?

STM 07-03-2011 04:39 AM

Only if the update is accepted by your host / it's multiplayer compatible.

Wil 07-03-2011 04:42 AM

Yes, we'll just have to travel a great distance. We could get Edd to built a railway in the Nether.

Splat 07-03-2011 10:00 AM

Ah, ok. That's nice to know :p

Ridg3 07-03-2011 12:33 PM

Should Ench happen across this post.

I'm sorry, and I plan to compensate you for your troubles.

It's a big world out there, but the filesize of the world will be kinda enormous in the end.

Maybe later we can get Havoc to post a map of the world to find out which areas haven't been explored yet and setup a new exploration base in the closest newly-generated chunk after 1.8, then build a railway out to it or something - Then people would have to be sure to re-set their spawn points and not remove beds. Until then it's probably best that people stop exploring the current map for new areas.

Havoc 07-03-2011 02:34 PM

The current map is huge as it is. I've only posted two screens of it but I've seen the entire thing and it's gigantic.

What's going to be so special about NPC villages anyway? Will they offer some sort of exclusive resource?

DarkHoodness 07-03-2011 02:41 PM

There'll be underground ravines and ruins to find and stuff that won't appear in already generated chunks.

Ridg3 07-03-2011 02:50 PM

I hope we'll have the opportunity to trade with this NPC village. Then slaughter the males, pillage the town and rape the women. It's up to yourselves then if you want to hollow out the babies and smoke crack through them to get a smooth smoke.

Like I keep saying, build it in the nether; it'll only have to be an eighth as long to get players as far.

enchilado 07-03-2011 03:33 PM

We won't get this stuff:

Note the giant mushrooms and the ravine in the second picture.

EDIT: Max posted. Yeah, definitely. Just build it in a big long cobblestone tunnel.

DarkHoodness 07-03-2011 05:12 PM

Could be done, I guess. Gotta make the portal at the main base easier to get to though.

Havoc 07-03-2011 05:14 PM

Someone explain to me how distance in the Nether has anything to do with distance in the normal world?

enchilado 07-03-2011 05:44 PM

Each block you travel in the Nether is 8 in the real world. Two portals 1000 blocks apart in the Nether will be 8000 blocks apart in the real world.

Wil 07-04-2011 01:13 AM

This is slightly inaccurate because the placement of portals follows unpredictable rules, but it's the general rule, especially over larger distances.

Hence why all the portals I've seen on our server link to the same area in the Nether.

enchilado 07-04-2011 02:16 AM

And why my portal comes out at the same place as the Genesis one, yeah. But it'd still work fine for getting a long way away in one eighth of the time.

Ridg3 07-04-2011 02:22 AM

Did we try and build another portal in the nether to see if we can link it up to a specific portal on the surface?

Wil 07-04-2011 02:23 AM

I've got another portal to provide me slightly faster access to my compound from the base.

DarkHoodness 07-04-2011 09:12 AM

It's been a looong day.

Hulaabeo 07-04-2011 10:18 AM

New message, it's asking for a clock this time around.

Manco 07-04-2011 10:41 AM

Screw this guy, he can make his own clock.

Havoc 07-04-2011 01:20 PM

Server has been updated to 1.7.2

DarkHoodness 07-07-2011 03:05 PM

Transit system map update:

(Previous versions here and here for comparison.)

Havoc 07-07-2011 04:14 PM

Oh I love the new interchange in the track. Works like a charm, was hoping you'd make something like that!
