Many people wait for me.

It adds to my mystique.

STM 08-25-2011 10:44 AM

Anyone been playing From Dust? It's a fantastic game in principle but it needs a lot of patching for the PC to make it playable. =/

Dynamithix 08-26-2011 06:00 AM

Hey, I got this little thing called DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION in the mail.

Well, I'm one and a half hours in and it's already really amazing and I'm loving the story. If this is this good through out the whole game, I don't even need Skyrim or Saints 3, this game is the game.

Yup, it's that good.

Strike Witch 08-26-2011 06:42 AM

I got it too. It's great fun, however I'm having major difficulty getting through the army bunker after the derelict row mission. There's this room with a sniper dude in the middle and a turret beneath him and lots of other dudes.

Shit is tough.

Dynamithix 08-26-2011 07:13 AM

I love the augmentation-upgrading system and non-lethal takeouts are my way to go.

If anyone gets this game (you better get the game too!), please don't go with the "boom boom kill shit that moves" style, stealth is so much more exciting.

Daxter King 08-26-2011 09:50 AM

Deus Ex is about choosing how you want to play, sometimes I go guns blazing, though this one obviously caters a bit more to stealth. Anyways, you guys are already past me, I just do so much random shit in Detroit, Im doing every side mission. Just picked up the one where you go undercover to Derelect Row. Not sure how Im going to tackle it. What are you guys buying for your augments? Im not sure what will be good, so far I've only bought the social enhancer. Also, how do you recharge your power? My second battery seems to be permanently drained.

Dynamithix 08-26-2011 11:12 AM

You find those little protein bar things that recharge your takeout -battery. I'm not far into the game either, but I've bought like... 3 or 4 augmentations so far. Also, I love the achievements, they're really challenging. (Beat the game without killing anyone except the bosses.)

Mr. Bungle 08-26-2011 05:20 PM

I started playing Starcraft 2 again after a several month long break. So much fun, but I'm terrible at the moment.

Dynamithix 08-27-2011 09:18 AM

I've just beaten the first boss in Deus Ex. He was pretty easy with the proximity-mine thingies that came with the pre-order bonus. I left Detroit and moved on to the next location in the game, Shanghai. Yay.

Phylum 08-27-2011 06:45 PM

I've been playing Red Faction Guerilla. I've had it since March and I played it for the 6th time today. I'm really enjoying the intense gunplay, unrealistic car physics and big explosions.

I really like the sense of urgency in each mission that comes from the everlasting stream of EDF forces that pour into your location from every direction. It makes some of the better guarded buildings absolute hell to destroy. I've ended up cornered inside the building I was trying to destroy without any ammo. I was having to use the sledgehammer to kill and steal ammo from the advancing enemies.

The mission to liberate the Parker region was hilarious. The objective was to drive into and destroy 10ish towers that the EDF needed for some bullshit reason. By the time I'd destroyed 5 I was being followed by an absurd amount of EDF cars. They were overtaking me, ramming me, exploding and flying all over the place. It was like something out of a fucking Blues Brothers movie.

Strike Witch 08-27-2011 08:14 PM

Still playing Deus Ex. I've passed Shanghai and am at the Picus Building.

Moving along pretty well, only I'm pretty low on ammo and generally end up barely making it through.

Disgruntled Intern 08-31-2011 08:42 AM

Fruit Ninja [kinect] with Dorian. Spastic stupid fun.

Dynamithix 08-31-2011 09:59 AM

If I'd have a Kinect, I'd most likely get Fruit Ninja if it was 400MSP cheaper, it's a bit too expensive 'cause you can get it for less than a dollar in the AppStore anyways. But I'm sure it's fun.

Anyways, guess what... Deus Ex! Yeah, I'm probably near the end of the game because (Major spoilers!) Malik died in the helicopter accident. I heard it's possible to save her, but I didn't know that at the time, now I feel sad. So yeah. Also, everyone should get the augment that allows you to jump up to 9ft in the air, you feel so badass jumping over people with your cyborg body. Fuck yeah.

Also, I recommend the cloaking aug, the re-breather aug and the parachute aug. Go get the game if you haven't already, you're missing out on one of the best titles of the year! :p

Disgruntled Intern 08-31-2011 02:17 PM

Really? Because the review I just read said it was pretty god damned bad. Although falling in the shadow of the last Deus Ex, plus the seemingly endless development time had most people expecting an amazing game. Anything less tends to make most nerds pitch a fit and nit-pick a game to hell and back. I'll probably rent it. Maybe.

As for fruit ninja, we're just playing the demo. The price tag is what's holding us back as well, but I'm sure it'll go on sale sooner rather than later.

Strike Witch 08-31-2011 04:21 PM

The metacritic tells a different story.

Mr. Bungle 08-31-2011 08:44 PM

I've been playing a lot of Street Figher IV again, and holy hell is it fun. Tough as nails, but fun.

I'm probably gonna pick up Marvel vs. Capcom 3 sometime in the next few days. Can't wait to play that.

Dynamithix 08-31-2011 08:55 PM

DI, surely you're not speaking of the same game as I am. Ignore the reviews that say it's bad, if you like Fallout and stealth games at all, you'll love this.

My advice is to wait for Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 or just stick with the 2nd game.

completed Limbo. what a great adventure, i loved every moment of it, even if it did infuriate me at times. i now have a slight obsession with it.

Mac Sirloin 09-01-2011 04:05 PM

I got and am playing Deus Ex as well. It's an extremely interesting game-when you're talking to people and creepin' around houses. Like Nixon.

The combat caters to either 'Kill 'em all' or 'Sneak like a mofo'. I even unwittingly missed the 'Pacifist' achievement (no kills) by killing EVERY SINGLE person in the prologue mission. It was awesome.

Also, I'd suggest silencing, laser sighting, piercing and damage upgrading the hell out of it. Weapon of the year.

Also can't play right unless you buy the break through walls ability.

JennyGenesis 09-01-2011 04:29 PM

As I write this, it is 2nd September at 01:29. That means?

DRIVER!!! WOOO FINALLY!!!!!! IVE HAD THE DAMN THING ON PREORDER SINCE AUGUST 2010.:spin:

Though my time playing it will be heavily reduced, first I was having 2 friends staying down, but now they can't, so I had all evening to play the game, but now I'm staying at a friends house, so, yeah, sadly I can't play alot of Driver since I got other things to do tomorow but staying at my friends house will take up most of my time. :(

Dynamithix 09-03-2011 02:37 AM

Whoo! I finally beat Deus Ex: Human Revolution yesterday evening and goddamn it was amazing. This is definitely one of my GoTY contenders easily.

Anyways, I was really expecting the twist that Megan and her team were actually alive but I was still really surprised by it. All of the boss fights were a bit difficult in their own way, Barrett wasn't too hard because you could just stun him and throw some frags at him. Yelena on the other hand was a lot harder. Probably the hardest out of the four because of the cloaking. I thought Namir was the easiest 'cause I had the grenadelauncher from pre-ordering and just blasted at him.

And the final boss, Zhao Yun Ru, was really hard at first because I couldn't figure out what to do, but after you get what you're supposed to do it's easy as hell.

I've got to say, using stealth in some situations is fucking hard and that's why I went guns blazing at some situations. Also, the last part of the game revolves around a facility in the arctic ocean called Panchaea and what makes it pretty fucking hard is that it's full of augmented people who had the new biochip installed and went insane. I had to save all the time in there, you died really easily too.

Oh and about the endings, there are 4 different endings I think, I only got 2 to choose from because I could not find Taggart and someone else I think. I chose the Sarif -ending, it was pretty neat.

I really enjoyed the game, I was a bit on the edge when I pre-ordered it, but I was really pleasantly surprised by it. You basically get to free roam around the locations (Detroit, Hengsha and the larger buildings) and search for side missions and such. I think I missed at least 3 side missions. :S

Oh and apparently, your actions through out the game don't really matter in the ending which is a bit dumb. That's one of my minor gripes with the game, otherwise it's a masterpiece.

Lots of cool easter eggs, neat boss fights, good story, great upgrading system and lots and lots of more =

9/10.

A few minor problems I had with the game were that your inventory was a bit small even if you upgrade it to the fullest and the character models' faces are so dull with the exception of Jensen's, Sarif's and Megan's.

Also, make sure to watch through the credits, you'll be surprised...

Mac Sirloin 09-04-2011 09:31 PM

God Dyna there are like 8 posts on this page already updating your progress on DX.

Dynamithix 09-05-2011 01:43 AM

I know, I know. And ffs why does everyone call me 'Dyna' all of the sudden?

Mr. Bungle 09-05-2011 04:13 AM

Because it's faster than typing your full username. People call me Bungle and Dixanadu Dix, and we don't complain.

I decided to buy Marvel VS Capcom 3. It's really, really fun, but I'm terrible at it.

Dynamithix 09-05-2011 04:20 AM

I guess so. It just sounds dumb in my head.

Anyways, I've been playing Deus Ex and Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands lately and it's ok. It's the second PoP -game I've played. (The other being Sands of Time.)

I think the environments look really dull and colourless for some reason, but the gameplay itself is nice. It's a bit boring but it's a game that you can play to pass time. Only paid 10€ for it so no loss.

jumper 09-05-2011 08:34 AM

I did start playing the cel-shaded Prince of Persia game, but a combination of awful frame-rate (on my laptop at least) and just not really enjoying the game meant that I didn't get very far into the game at all. I have Sands of Time and Forgotten Sands too, both of which I haven't tried yet; I'm pretty sure I should play them, what with all the praise they get (the former in particular).

Manco 09-05-2011 09:11 AM

I’ve had Forgotten Sands gathering dust on my shelf for a month or so now. Really need to pick it up sometime.

Jordan 09-06-2011 09:16 AM

Ocarina of Time 3D. Fucking awesome, I think I'm addicted. It's a perfect remake. I don't use the 3D much cause it gives me headaches.

Hazel-Rah 09-06-2011 03:42 PM

Resistance 3. I friggin' love this game, it's like the perfect blend of action and narrative!

The multiplayer is pretty much your standard 90s style arena shooter with killstreaks but the maps are some of the best I've seen in a long time! Of course I'm a sucker for any map with snow :P which there are two of.

The weapons are mostly awesome and actually feel like they have recoil now. Oh and the melee is sweet, you actually lunge a few feet when you try to hit someone which makes it easy to kill them and there's even a cool little animation (not as epic looking as the melee animation from Killzone 3 or Halo Reach).

Overall it's a cool game if you like Halo style shooters. 9/10
