Oh, I see. I think it might be new, and it was added when we got to the picture #2 page – the quotes that are appearing are the same ones that I highlighted earlier in this thread.

So: it’s new, and was added for picture #2, and retroactively to the page for picture #1.

So, after all that, were we intended to eventually find the clear images? If so I won't feel guilty having a go at them in Photoshop haha

Bruteforcing is useless - they removed all CWB images.

I think so, they must have been deliberately placed into the image list, just maybe not supposed to be found that quickly

Did we cheat? All I know the clear images suddenly popped, and some people claimed it's because of the detectives.

Cheating is subjective! But it does seem to be my fault...

I think regardless of the images being available on the page, they weren’t meant to be found so quickly – possibly they were mistakenly on the list of images to randomly select, or possibly they wanted us to discover them slowly. Either way, when they saw there was bruteforcing in play, they clamped down on it. It’s safe to assume that bruteforcing is out of bounds for future puzzles.

From what I can tell (I only started on the gamedetectives discord just before it all kicked off) not really, we didn't find anything that we wouldn't have found with lots of people looking at the same page over and over. Artemisbot just wrote a script to refresh the page multiple times and look for new images each time.

That's not cheating. Cheating imho would be something like e.g. getting unauthorized access to the FTP

I think it's fair to say we'd much rather foster communities working and discussing anything on the site together than have a machine blast at the page. :)

Let's assume that everything on the page was in rotation, but let's also assume that there was a key in knowing how many times you had to refresh to push out a clean version, which might have proved helpful along the way...

Nothing we can really do about that now, it appears the remaining clean images have vanished, and Asset 98 appears to have fallen victim to another kind of machine. :D

You shouldn't blame them for taking the opportunities.

I believe the clean images were time-locked since those of us searching for images got them at the same time - no. of refreshes had no effect.
E: Oh lol, didn't realise you were an OWI employee :P

Wow, I forget to check all day and then all this happens! It was really scary reading those posts as I suddenly realised what was going while I was reading and hoping my assumptions were untrue. This is getting really scary!

Just trying to find something I can start to work out, not great at ciphers and it looks like there has been loads of that at the moment. May have to wait until Image 3 starts as I have a headache at the moment :( Still it's great to see so much discussion and progress.

We can't reach Asset 98 but we do still have his clear transmissions. Prove you're worthy. Show us that you're able. Send us the grid.
