I'd hesitate to call it the worst FF minigame (FFIX's version of Triple Triad was soul crushing), but it's up there. Doesn't help you need to do that shit to get Wakka's best weapon/overdrive/whatever.

I got Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for Christmas and oh my god I can't even put into words how much fun I'm having with it so I'll just leave it as this and hopefully the Monster Hunter fans on OWF will roll the ball on, 'cause I got a Royal Ludroth to bag.
...there are MH fans here, right? Probably. |
Tonight I played both Night In The Woods supplementals. If you've not heard of it, NitW is a game that was funded on Kickstarter and currently being developed. They're using the tech to make free mini-games to flesh out the characters and universe, as well as a way to promote the game.
Supplemental #1 - Longest Night - is a cute little mini-game with very simple mechanics but a fuckload of atmosphere. It's only about 10 minutes long, so check it out. If you liked that, check out Supplemental #2 - Lost Constellation - which is available for free or donation on Itch.IO. It's longer - I think I played it for about two hours - and is a very simple Adventure game. It's a bit slow at first, but it builds to a beautiful ending. |

I put a hundred hours into it before finding out my Wii-u for some reason couldnt connect to the internet and stopped playing. Got 400 hours into the wii version though. Got up to Alatreon and stopped before fighting her (her since the community names it so). I have a habit of getting to the end of games and then stopping... Did it with the new strider. |

I played terrific game of TF2 last night and I'm going to tell you about it.
I was playing on an Official Payload server on BLU, meaning we had to push a bomb-laden cart along a track while eliminating Red resistance along the way. I was trailing behind in points, probably around the middle of the leaderboard, when oh, shit we only have 60 seconds left in the mission, so I switch to Heavy, get a medic and mow down each and every single member of the opposing team. At one point I ran out of ammunition for my minigun and instead of retreating, I ran directly at a pyro with my fists out, who airblasted me directly on top of an ammo crate. I planted myself in front of the cart and just massacred the Reds personally leading the cart to the capture point and winning the round, I was at the top of the scoreboard for the ensuing eight rounds, finally overtaken after I'd spent some time playing as a medic and engie rather than direct offense classes. I've been playing TF2 since it was released in November 2007 and that was easily the best performance I'd ever had in game. |
I always love the stories that people tell about multiplayer games but I can never enjoy actually playing them.
I finished Hitman: Blood Money today. After initially struggling to get into the right frame of mind to play the game (i.e. realizing you will have to restart every level many times over before actually building the knowledge you need to take out your target) I ended up really enjoying it. The satisfaction you get from approaching an open-ended mission and using your wits and knowledge to plan out your entry, make the kill, and get out without ever being discovered is worth all the repeated failures and restarts. Having every mission be so open and having so many different strategies for accomplishing your goals is really cool too, and something that not enough games do any more. It’s a shame, since from what I hear the newest Hitman game is very linear. |
The only story I have like that is the time I was a Pyro, running full pelt at the enemy base on Badlands. Someone blew a load of stickies under my feet (by the arrow on the left), launching me in an arcing trajectory. Five seconds later I landed in their Sniper nest (grey balcony on the right) where I promptly immolated everyone.

Infamous First light was cool. Gonna run thhrough all the challenges and hopefully plat it tomorrow.

Dark Souls 2.
Just started. The wand seems pretty cheap. I like it. |
I got into the Evolve Technical Alpha on PS4. If you were in the Big Alpha you should have a code emailed to you.
Ill be playing it on the 17th when it launches, lasts 2 days. Should be heaps fun. |
Played like an hour of Heavy Bullets. It was fun. Don't know if it was worth $10 yet, but it was fun. People who enjoy roguelikes and/or mindless shooters should check it out.
Fucking snakes. |
I enjoyed Shovel Knight very much. I found games like Megaman and Castlevania too hard at times but the game does a great job at catering to newbies and giving players the choice of destroying checkpoints if they want or leaving them intact. It evokes that whole NES/GBC era while having modern features like achievements and save states.
The extra magic abilities are great and they are all useful in a variety of circumstances like the Dust Knuckles and the Throwing Scythe. The bosses are superb and have a good pattern of moves. Fantastic music and great replay value all round. |
I want to play that. I may never get around to it, though. Weddings are expensive, and I feel bad spending any amount of money on anything that isn't the wedding, at this point.
|
It's so good, man. Well worth making yourself look/feel like an asshole for.
I'd probably place it in my top 15 or so games of all time at this point. |
So I finally sat down and played FF7 for the first time today.
Cloud is a fucking asshole. |
The most of any FF game ive ever played is 10 minutes of FFV, where I got bored and quit. Unless Kingdom hearts counts as a Final Fantasy game.

I've been playing gallons and gallons of TF2. Endlessly. I'd like to get off the TF2 bus, please. Like I said in an earlier post, I've been playing Team Fortress 2 off and on since release. I can sincerely state I am very good at it. So good that I have to spend an hour looking for a game with people 'on my level' because everyone is either a vacuous dump free-to-player or some massive tit like me who's been playing for a million bajillion hours. Free to players just bump into walls and always play as snipers, but cocksure TF2 vets are giant assholes who need to stroke their ego every time they get a kill or score a point. The contradiction of course is that a quantifiable skill set is pointless when you've got dumb kids blundering around half the games making your leet skillz pretty much meaningless. Finding a comfortable middle is tough because as I said, I'm pretty darn good, but what's the point when half of my teammates literally don't comprehend the first word in the games title? I've been playing Shovel Knight. Great game, definitely recommend it just as everyone else has. It has a firm grasp on what mechanics a game needs to feel fun and challenging without indulging either of the two. The pixel art (or whatever you call it, graphics) is just terrific. It's a really, really nice looking game. |
I was enjoying the end of Psyconauts so much, but now I'm at what I'm guessing is the final boss and I'm about to ragequit. It's The butcher for the second time, with help from Raz' dad. It's so fucking ridiculous. I can't seem to reliably get him to slice at me close enough to tk the spiked clubs into his legs. If I do, he either slices between me and the club which for some reason seems to make tk'ing into him impossible, or he'll somehow be too close and randomly bash me with his right arm, which cancels the strike into the ground and the window to damage him. The most reliable way for me to dodge his horizontal sweep is to be on the levitation ball, but that makes kiting him 100x harder because I end up moving away from the clubs too much and I can't figure out a pattern to how I'm supposed to kite him in relation to how often Raz' dad throws them. I'm literally going 2-3 minutes without getting a good chance to damage him.
I can't save the game and come back later. If I quit now I'm probably not going to be fucked coming back to it. I really want to finish this game, but it's making it so hard for me :( e: Ehhh I got it. My strategy was 90% right, I just needed to get lucky with the throws apparently. Pity, because the rest of Meat Circus was fucking awesome. I mean, even the name is great. Meat Circus. Meat. Circus. Holy fuck though, Raz' hair in the ending. |
I've just finished Grim Fandango Remastered. I have only good things to say about it.
It's really good. |

I didn't realise Pac-Man meant that much to you.
|
Of course he means. He likes to eat a lot.
|
When Steph and I started dating I didn't have cable, so there were two things that we would do at night: 1. Smoke pot, and watch Dark Shadows dvd's. 2. Smoke pot and play Pac Man CE DX. We love that game.
|
I love that game so much. Best "arcade" game I know.
|
Evolve. Non stop. Played for 12 hours straight today...
Non stop being an exaggeration |
I've finally grown a pair and fallen in love with Demon's Souls. Beaten at least one boss in each world (except the diseased anus chasm, fuck that place) and it's got its hooks in me. Hard.

double post time
Been playing Pokemon: Heart Gold. Pretty great so far, good remake of what's probably my favourite generation. Only thing that's bugging me is how the fuck is up with the bug catching contest? First time, I catch a level 18 Kakuna. Come in last place. Okay. It's a Kakuna. I get that, I guess. Second time? Fucking Pincer. He's a beast. Hercules beetle. Or something. Don't know. Anyways, I catch that, think "fucking right I'm gonna win this with my Hercules bug". Lose to a goddamn Paras, a goddamn CATERPIE, and a first fucking place piece of shit Weedle. What the actual hell is this? Great game though. I like how the Pokemon can follow you around now. They actually seem to scale in size to your sprite pretty well, too. It's cute. Just wish I could get my hands on a GODDAMN shiny stone from the bug contest to evolve my Togetic. Ugh. Weedle. The hell. |
