It's articulated, but moves only when you don't look at it.

I'd just like to point out that those figures are bad enough to make a Strike Witch and a Kastere turn in their graves both at once.
|
They're better than the super old ones. Like of the ninth Doctor. I don't think they're made by the same people, though. I just know that all figures of things without human faces (Cybermen, Daleks) are pretty good.
|
Nep, c'mon man, they're dolls.
|
Toys are pretty serious business.
|
Toys make the world go 'round
|
I don't even care, I'm going to keep collecting Dalek figures and nobody can stop me!
|
Not good enough
Build a Dalek army from scratch I SHALL ASSIST YOU |
so will i. i'll drink and smoke in the corner and make unhelpful remarks about what you're doing, mainly consisting of "you don't want to do it like that", then i'll butt in and take over and fuck everything up.
i'll bring a chair, don't worry. |
Do you want one of my chairs or do you have your own now?
|
i have a deckchair. it's economic.
|
Ah congrats, man, that's really great to hear. Well done!
|
thanks.

I heard David Tennant was filming ‘the Decoy Bride' down the road from me. I left the house and asked a member of the crew if David Tennant was about. He told me they were actually part of the crew for ‘the Shadow Line' starring Christopher Eccleston, and that Eccleston would be about later. Bitch there’s only enough room for one signature here, where’s 10?! The guy directed me to another film crew nearby, and I waited outside David Tennant’s trailer till he was finished for the day. I then asked him to sign my Dalek, which I just so happen to carry around with me everywhere I go because I am absolutely definitely not a stalker. |
I'm operating on a bit of a delay, so I only saw Listen last night. It was absolutely wonderful and definitely be the best episode in years. That's even more remarkable for it being a horror-themed episode, which DW mostly hasn't done well.
Even Clara had slightly more than a second dimension, which is impressive. It still fucking annoys me when companions keep secrets from the Doctor for no fucking good reason, though. |
Just wait until the next episode. Possible the shittest DW episode I've ever had the misfortune of watching.
|
Is that the Robin Hood one? Cause I found that hilarious at times.
Also last nights episode was really good. Really did convince me that Capaldi is already my favorite Doctor. |
I think they've all been good. Even Time Heist which was just mid-series slum. I still enjoyed it. Most of the episodes have been great and this series has the tone of one of the great ones like 2 or 4, I can't really explain it, but it's just that rewatchability that 5-7 had none of. Capaldi is great, although sometimes he's a bit of an arsehole for no reason.
|
I didn't mind time-heist. It's the one with the stupid bloody terminator-spider robot oh lol the companion has a boyfriend episode I was talking about, which I absolutely couldn't stand. Story telling at its worst.
|
I like Capaldi, but he doesn't feel like the Doctor for me yet. Perhaps I've just gotten too used to 10 and 11's manic energy.

:
Don't get me started on that Harry Potter watch and the plot holes it introduces, though... |
:
That said, the point that I was failing to express was not that Capaldi has to fit to a certain type, but that a new actor has to make the role his own and redefine what it means to be The Doctor. And that point hasn't hit home for me yet. |
The Doctor was a bit of a asshole as most of his incarnations because that's just how he rolled. It's all in good nature of course.
|
:
He isn't a bad actor, but he was written that way. |

|
You clearly missed my point, then.

Time Heist was the best written episode of the series so far. Fight me.
There are lots of things I don't like about this series, and it mostly just comes down to execution. I love that Moffat's trying exciting new things, but at the end of the day the writing just isn't pulling it together for me. Take Listen. There were really great things in that episode, but on the whole I just couldn't get into it. The bedroom scene with the thing under the sheet was well done. Everything up until there was running pretty smoothly. But then nothing really happened. They had to tie back into the overarching Danny-Clara story, because the possibly-nonexistent monster was just so boring. I like the idea, but id just didn't execute well. There was no problem. There was no solution. They just kind of did things and talked for 45 minutes of my life. The last episode definitely was everything I hate about the series so far, though. Here's my revised plot synopsis after watching it this morning - "Clara struggles to find a balance between her life as a time traveler and her boyfriend, which is only complicated when The Doctor goes undercover at her school. There's a killer robot on the loose, but the bigger question on everyone's mind is what The Doctor will think of Danny." The robot got 5 minutes of screen time, and was a bland killbot until Danny finally Saved the Day and concluded the real plot, which was about the social interactions of our 3 musketeers. I really like that Moffat is trying to do more with the show than the "Monster of the Week" format that we're used to, but there's just not enough supporting his ideas to keep me watching at the moment. I'm bored of "The Clara Oswald Saturday Night Drama Show". I'm finding her more irritating than Amy Pond. Also, on the topic of pacing and episode structure, is anyone else finding that the episodes take far too long to actually unfold the premise into a plot? I enjoyed most of the Robin Hood episode, but the last 10-15 minutes of ROBOTS BUILDING SPACESHIP BUT NOT ENOUGH GOLD SO EXPLOSIONS could have easily been the problem they were overcoming for the entire episode. Instead we had The Doctor quibbling and not really achieving anything for 30 minutes. I'm all for character development, but again it was a situation where the plot was about The Doctor and Robin Hood not being able to get along, and the evil robot menace was secondary. But I can see why people are enjoying them. |
I can't be arsed writing up a long post like that so instead I'll just post this review which I mostly agree with. Except the bit about the child, she was still annoying.
|
I actually watched this episode, the first Doctor Who I've seen in about 7 years of actively avoiding it. Every character irritated the fuck out of me and I regret staying in the lounge to watch it.
Still better than most of the dross that's on television nowadays though. |
