So did you solve the Monolith puzzle I keep hearing about?

Dynamithix 04-22-2012 12:42 PM

I downloaded League of Legends and tried out the tutorial. It seems pretty fun and I like the artwork of the champions, the game's artists must be working really hard 'cause there are so many champions in the game. I tried out Ryze first, I like that character.

Mr. Bungle 04-22-2012 07:55 PM

Yeah League of Legends is pretty damn awesome. My cousin is addicted to it so I have to play with him every time we hang out. I don't mind, though, 'cause the games actually a lot of fun and I hardly get a chance to play on my own.

Dynamithix 04-22-2012 09:45 PM

So apparently League of Legends has the worst fucking fanbase based on my first three matches.

sheridanm962 04-22-2012 11:50 PM

Keep getting experienced in jungle (small time kills of minions) to get a feel for it and to level up at first, now you can try to kill a champion if you have a higher level and some good items etc. You'll get used to it and eventually get level 30.... I'm assuming you have a lower level now.... Yeah.

Yes.

Edit: I sort of cheated on that one, though. There is still no known way of coming up with the solution to the monolith. People are finding more clues hidden in the soundtrack that just came out, and it's likely that the solution is in there somewhere.

I got it from a bunch of guys who brute forced it. They just tried every possible solution until they found the right one. We know it works. We just don't know why it works.

Mr. Bungle 04-23-2012 06:55 AM

Aside from Capcom fighting games, I've mostly been playing Diablo II for the millionth time out of excitement towards the new one. I can't fucking wait to be able to post about it here.

Also been playing Saints Row the third. I'm not very far in it yet, but it's pretty damn fun so far. Not sure if better than the first one, though.

Why not playing Diablo III while it was in open beta?

Mr. Bungle 04-23-2012 07:17 AM

I didn't realize is was out at the time it was. I imagine it's closed by now?

Varrok 04-23-2012 07:25 AM

Yea, tough luck :/

Mac Sirloin 04-23-2012 01:27 PM

I'm playing Demon's Souls. It's fucking hard, okay? It's really fucking hard.

Also Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and Advance Wars 2. I forgot how obnoxious FFTA's law system is. I named Marche 'nigger' because seeing 'Look out, nigger!' and 'Let's go get 'em, nigger!' is totally upstanding and mature humor. Advance Wars is hard, but not as hard as when I little and didn't understand why an Artillery unit could attack Megatanks directly. The non-campaign AI levels are insane, too. The very first challenge level is a automatically a war of attrition because you and the opposing CO have the exact same terrain, factories and cities. Watching people get blown up while their CO's make 'WHOOPSIE DAISY!' faces is still fun though.

I am also playing Clive Barker's Jericho. More like Crap Breakers Jerkpoo. It's a fun game but it's dumb as hell and looks really gross.

Daxter King 04-23-2012 10:18 PM

Just finished Chpater 1 of the Witcher 2, such a great fucking game. It honestly reminds me of why I love video games. It's just so good, better than your favorite RPG. It's not necessarily too hard, but there is no fucking hand holding, which is fantastic. I also love the lore and the shape of the world the game is laying out, I most certainly am going to get the books it is based off of.

Also, did you guys plan out AD avatars without me? I just started watching the series from the beginning again.

Mac Sirloin 04-24-2012 03:12 AM

Nah, I'm just being a copy cat. I was going to use one with Uncle Oscar but Buster made more sense.

Also, is The Witcher II worth full price? I was thinking of getting a new game and would prefer it wasn't Mass Effect 3 if I can help it.

Varrok 04-24-2012 04:48 AM

You've played the first one? It's better than first one then
(Not Mass Effect, it was crap)

Dynamithix 04-24-2012 05:49 AM

I tried out the Dragon's Dogma demo. It is pretty good but I hate the black bars that are constantly on the screen, it restricts your visibility of the area around you, I hate it. The combat is cool. It's a bit like Dark Souls mixed with a hack 'n' slash game. The character/pawn editor is really well done too, you can make a really fucked up character if you want to.

The boss fights are done extremely well, in the demo you fight a chimera (I think) and a griffin. Personally, I thought the griffin fight was a lot better but the chimera fight was fun as hell too. Also, this isn't an easy game, no no, you really have to watch your health since tiny goblins in groups can kill you if you aren't careful. Use healing items a lot.

The looting is a bit stupid though, most of the time I don't even notice any sort of loot, they should highlight it or something, not just make it a tiny object in the ground and pressing the B button at the right time.

Looks like I'm gonna have to pre-order this, the demo really convinced me.

Dixanadu 04-24-2012 06:32 AM

Got Skyrim yesterday. Played around 3 hours of it since most of yesterday was spent riding around in my friend's car. Anyway, today it will be the focus of my attention.

Found a cave full of goblin-like dudes called Falmer. Some were pretty tough, luckily I had Lydia to back me up. Then after some delving, found one covered in armour. As I approached him, a big fucking golem activated and attacked me.

I wasn't for fighting that thing just yet, I'll uh... come back later.

No, but you're welcome to join us. We still need a Gob.

Dynamithix 04-24-2012 06:38 AM

@Dixanadu That's pretty much the same thing that happened to me on my first day playing Skyrim. It was really good back then, now it's really boring.

Mr. Bungle 04-24-2012 06:40 AM

I agree. I was in love with that game for nearly a month, but now I just can't play it at all without getting bored.

Dynamithix 04-24-2012 07:32 AM

Though Skyrim can be forgiven on that part, every game gets boring at some point.

MeechMunchie 04-24-2012 09:46 AM

The real appeal is that you don't have to replay the same stuff when you come back to it.

Also, I'm hosted on Skins@HWT (Dawn of War mod site) now, bitches! Apparently it's their first new item for over a year.

A thousand times yes, especially if you're looking for an RPG. You get a quest guide and the soundtrack with it as well.

MeechMunchie 04-24-2012 11:29 AM

Plus, you get to see boobs.

Been playing Saints Row the third. A huge improvement over the last game. The gameplay is just so crazy and over-the-top that I love every minute of it.

You can even beat people to death with spiked dildos. Yeah, it's pretty awesome. I recommend it if you're looking for hours of mindless entertainment.

Loved Saints row, I always wanted to buy SR3 but I can't unless I build a new computer.... I need more money.

Strike Witch 04-26-2012 04:09 AM

Out of curiosity, how many of you guys have played Star Control II?

JennyGenesis 04-26-2012 07:34 AM

Ridge Racer Unbounded, one of the worst games I have ever played!

It's just a total rip off of Split/Second which was already a terrible game to begin with, Ridge Racer is full of bugs that make you not want to play the game properly, one of the goals of the game being to ram your opponents into buildings and walls ETC. When you take out another car, you see the car burst into flames and roll down the road being destroyed, but these scenes go on forever and ever and ever, you can skip them, but if you do skip them, you don't earn XP, so essentially you are forced to watch them just to progress though the damn game! which then throws you into another problem, the AI controls your car when you are watching your opponents car being destroyed, but the reason I hate destroying my opponents is not just because of the drawn out scenes, but because of the amount of times when the scene is over I've found my car crashed into a wall, or simply parked on the side of the road doing nothing! So the damn AI can't even control my car for me!

Another strange glitch seems to be landing from a jump, now and again, when you land a jump, sometimes your car will spin out upon landing, seems to be totally random and doesn't make sense!

The drift events just make no sense, the goal being to drift your car to earn a set amount of points within a time limit, when you perform big enough drifts, you can earn time extensions, but it seems completely random on whether or not the time extensions work! and in the rare occurrence that they do, it doesn't even give you all the time that your HUD tells you that you have earned!

Then there's the Frag Race events, where you are in a massive truck and you have to take down a certain number of police cars, again, because you are destroying opponents your stuck watching those drawn out scenes which you don't want to skip because you will miss out in valuable XP!

Unsurprisingly, it took me hours to find just 1 single person online on this game... it wasn't worth the wait, the online is even worse as it suffers from even more glitches! The worst one being if you crash into something hard enough that your car is destroyed, there seems to be a massive delay between your crash and seeing your car explode. My best example being that I accidentally crashed head on into a wall, I thought that it would kill me, but I hit the wall and I was fine, so I started to reverse and oh look, suddenly, my car explodes...

The tracks are just boring and really unmemorable, the track editor though, I'll give it credit, you can create tracks to the exact same quality as the ones already in the game, the only downside then is that it makes the default tracks feel really cheap.

Soundtrack is awful to, mainly consisting of, urgh... dubstep.

Anyway, rant over, fuck this game, it sucks! and even without the glitches I mentioned, it is a very very boring game.

OANST 04-26-2012 10:22 AM

Only you could write nine paragraphs about a racing game. A racing game that you hated.

Dynamithix 04-26-2012 10:36 AM

I got a PS Vita two days ago. I tried out Rayman Origins on it, it was nice, really smooth gameplay and they added some new relics to collect and a few new character skins.

Unit 13 is a terrible game, I tried that one out too, it only stands out because of the graphics, everything else in it is generic.

I might buy some PSP games for it from the PS Store some day but for now, it's pretty useless. Oh well, got it for free.

EDIT: And by free I mean that I won it from a contest, not free as in my parents bought it for me. I didn't really even want it to be honest, might sell it for some cash.

JennyGenesis 04-26-2012 10:48 AM

Why did you buy a PS Vita?

I personally can't find any appeal in it.
