the book is enjoyable enough (from super eldergeek over here), though pretty badly written. "here is a place. place description. people go through place, into a new place. new place description." basically if it were a text adventure that'd be awesome.

Neil Gaiman is a brilliant old chap and a half.

~have you read Coraline, or seen the movie?
Enchilado

I have seen the movie, desu

and leto that book looks like shit

Might be because it's an Oblivion book and fuck I hated Oblivion.

Leto 11-26-2009 07:30 PM

tentatively bridges gap between tesiv and tesv. so fu lern2love.

Strike Witch 11-26-2009 08:05 PM

There's a Tesvuh?

Leto 11-26-2009 08:07 PM

tentatively. it hasn't been ruled out but it hasn't been confirmed.

Strike Witch 11-26-2009 08:18 PM

Oh.

So what happened after the Jesus-like monk turned into a dragon and killed Mechashiva?

MeechMunchie 11-27-2009 03:39 AM

The firey vaginas closed up and the gremlins went home.

The firey vaginas closed up and the gremlins went home.

That's not really what happened YOU MADE THAT UP!

Anonyman! 11-29-2009 09:24 PM

It went exactly like that. Then you went to the realm of crazies and became king of the crazies and danced around in your little suit.

Mac Sirloin 11-30-2009 05:56 PM

I read Cruddy again. I adore that book. Now I'm reading the second Artemis Fowl book because BOOKS FOR TWELVE YEAR OLDS YEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH

enchilado 11-30-2009 05:58 PM

Are you twelve? Artemis Fowl sucks.

Mac Sirloin 11-30-2009 06:13 PM

It doesn't suck if you have dick-all to do at work and can get away with reading all day.
It's also, y'know, for twelve year olds, so I can read through it quick and make myself think I'm myself are smart.

Nate 11-30-2009 06:44 PM

Artemis Fowl rocks! And, from memory, the second is the best of the bunch.

enchilado 11-30-2009 06:54 PM

I never made it past chapter two of the first one. I tried, but failed. It was a valiant effort.

Nate 11-30-2009 08:19 PM

Maybe the problem lies with the reader and not the book...

I was going to write 'Maybe the problem lies with the reader and not the read', which flows better, but I just knew someone would misunderstand the heteronym.

Daxter King 11-30-2009 09:06 PM

I read the first Artemis Fowl a few years back. I never bothered trying to find the second one for a while, and when I did I was no longer interested.

Dipstikk 12-02-2009 06:00 PM

Do audio books count? I find it hard to concentrate when I read a book; my ADD kicks in.

Wings of Fire 12-02-2009 06:11 PM

Sure they do.

I'm reading the K-ON! Manga at the moment, but I keep getting distracted :(.

Dipstikk 12-02-2009 07:08 PM

I'm getting an earful of filler and symbolism with an audio book of Moby Dick.

Alcar 12-02-2009 07:08 PM

I'm reading the Death Note manga. It caught my eye why I was browsing at a book store, and having seen the anime, decided to give it a go... I'm engrossed.

Inb4strikewitch: Quiet, you!

Alcar...

Wings of Fire 12-02-2009 07:12 PM

The Death Note manga gets a little stretched out at the end, I mean the second half is already fucking bad enough.

MOAR MIKAMI ALREADY

Alf Shall Rise 12-02-2009 07:13 PM

I'm reading The Catcher in the Rye. It's a pretty good book so far, though I have to read more into it to really have a valid opinion.

MA 12-03-2009 08:06 AM

really couldn't get into that book. someone lent it me and i didn't want to disappoint them, and was put on the spot, so i said i had read most of it but not yet finished it. i didn't get past chapter 4, i think.

EDIT: shit. i cant find it.

Josh 12-03-2009 08:30 AM

I'm tempted to get The Count of Monte Cristo. Is it any good?

OddjobAbe 12-03-2009 08:31 AM

It's not brilliant. Neither was the film.

Wings of Fire 12-03-2009 08:41 AM

That's very much so a subjective opinion...the works of Dumas are praised very highly in literary circles around the world.

Also I quite liked the movie.

used:) 12-03-2009 08:43 AM

Me too. In fact, it's one of my favorites.

OANST 12-03-2009 09:55 AM

I liked when Jesus gave that guy an unloaded pistol.

used:) 12-03-2009 02:23 PM

Tyahahaha, that was pure malice.

enchilado 12-03-2009 02:33 PM

I have the Count of Monte Cristo.
