Overwhelming emotions? I dunno. I mean she was being held at gunpoint. She eventually figured out "Mercy" worked though.
Speaking of which, Why was the Doctor so surprised that the Daleks can say mercy? Like he's never heard them say that before... The Dalek in the 9th Doctor Episode "Dalek" said mercy. And he didn't question it then. I have no idea why I remember that. Probably because I adore that episode. |
Well this entire episode was a huge homage to Genesis, which is where a Dalek says "Mercy, I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary banks". I have heard it multiple times in the new series, though.
Also, if the gun fires for emotion, how come she didn't shoot the Doctor when he was aiming the Dalek gun at her? That would've been tense if she was trying to restrain her emotions in that section as to not kill him. Also, how the hell does he fire a Dalek gun if it works by emotion? He did it in Genesis, too, but I can forgive that seeing as that concept hadn't been established yet. In fact, it's like they just threw it in for that one scene in the sewers with Missy and then forgot about it. I agree with Nate, Clara is dumb as shit. How many times did Missy tell her that it works through mind control, and yet she never decided to try opening it with her mind. Moron. Fuck you, I kmew somebody would bring that up. Point is, Davros never has that accent again, so wtf guy Is anybody else pissed that the fans threw a hissy fit over the 2010 Daleks? We're probably never going to see them again, and they were cool as shit. |

To be honest I thought that as far as Dokrho episodes go, that was the best one in years...
|
Not wanting to bump the Doctor Who thread again but I just want to say...
Clara's death scene was the most pointless and over the top death scene in the show. Seriously. She died to save a minor character which only appeared in ONE episode prior. A character I forgot existed. I mean. I'm glad she's gone don't get me wrong. She was around for way too long and outstayed her welcome. But man. What a way to go. The whole episode was a big fat "meh". In fact every episode starting from the Zygon 2 parter has been "meh". Oh well, at least it started out aright... |
I used to like Doctor Who before 12. But Capaldi's first season was so weak I stopped watching just a bit before the season ended. Is the newest one any better than the last season?
|
Season 8 was great, especially compared to season 9, which has been utter trash. Honestly I liked Clara's death. It may have been pointless, but so what? Not everybody dies for a good cause.
I've already legitimately forgotten the name of the character she "died to save". I only remember him as budget Mickey. |
Wait, so this season is even worse? Jesus.
|
I liked Season 9 a bit more. A bit. It started out great but got worse.
I do love Capaldi as the Doctor though. I really hope he doesn't bugger off before Moffat does. Also just heard that River Song is set to come back in the Christmas ep. Uugh. |
Why would you fucking do that to me
|
What the hell, Crashpunk? This thread wasn't old enough to be frozen. Just post in the right thread in the future.
Also, what the hell, Nathan? You knew you were half a season behind and you still looked at Crashpunk's spoiler? You're an idiot. A happy idiot now, but an idiot. |
I watched 10 minutes for the first episode of this season and stopped.
I'm done. I can't. |

It's not worth it though. Because everything about the show is underwhelming. :

If you don't like Missy, just skip the first two episodes and watch Under The Lake. |
Y'know what. I really enjoyed tonight's episode. It kept me guessing and had some genuinely on edge moments.
And holy fuck. That finale looks nuts. |
It was pretty good. Having the Doctor being the only character in the episode was interesting but I don't think it was executed impeccably.
|
Loved the finale, thought it was fantastic. I actually think it was the best finale since Doomsday. Really interesting and unique way of sending off a companion and speaking of Clara, I actually liked her in this episode.
The new screwdriver looks a bit weird, but I'm happy the 12th Doctor finally has one of his own. That being said, as much as I enjoyed this episode and this series as a whole, (I changed my mind about it) I think the Christmas special looks like complete shit. To be fair though it's almost tradition for the Christmas episode to be dogshit, the last good one was probably Voyage of the Damned in 2007. Edit: Yes, I know that post was horribly written but I'm tired as fuck and fuck you |
Yeah I enjoyed it as well. Had a lot of great moments and nods such as the Old TARDIS design. And yeah Clara was pretty good in this I thought.
I'm glad the Screwdriver is back as well. And back in blue too. I hated the shades. They were cool for a one off device but not as a replacement. I saw the mind erasing swap coming a mile away. They already did it with Donna, would of kinda been lame if they did it again. Now I'm still getting my head around the whole Gallifrey part of it. I get they sent the Doctor there via the Dial, and that they stored him in there until he confesses about the Hybrid but why was the President so hostile against him? Speaking of which, What happened to the President? He just. vanished? I must of missed something? Oh and Moffat just can't resist adding in random Weeping Angles can he? The whole database part felt kinda pointless to me. |
Yeah the Weeping Angles were completely forced, despite looking cool they were totally pointless.
Also, I have no idea about the President, I missed the first 15 minutes so I was just as lost as you were. I actually warmed up to the sonic glasses to be honest. As a device for scanning and then feeding back information glasses make a whole lot more sense than a screwdriver. |
