New 'N' Tasty! Mudokon Blocks!
|
I read that as "bollocks"
|
Mudokons don't have bollocks.
...apparently |
Probably a good thing that they don't. :P
Here's the announcement that I made for my YouTube watchers. I mimicked the LED boards in Vegas, complete with sound effects for the hell of it. I was going to have a slig walk across the screen too, but it turned out to be too complicated. |
Mullock's Mouthlube!
|
I was thinking it would be cool to mix Oddworld with Minecraft in the LED messages as this is already a crossover of games.
Here's just some examples. They aren't very good... Bonewerkz: Premium Sand! SoulStorm Diamond mining co. |

Hm, there hasn't yet been many responses to the "competition", even though there already have been one or two very good suggestions which I'm grateful for. But people do still have a long time to think of and submit stuff... Shame I lack the wit to think of my own here.
Also, screw readable books. They break player immersion for telling the story, so here's a tiny preview of an extra thing I've been implementing, now that it's possible. I've thought long and hard about the scripts which now gradually appear in the chat window when the player triggers certain events: http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1350945792 Maybe I can find an alternative use for them. Oh and all this time later, I'm still developing resources to use in the map... Textures, game mechanics, how to make areas more varied... But all this thought I'm putting into this will be worth it later on. |
Looks epic man!
|
Where can I download the texture pack ??? :) I love your work :D
|
It'll be publicly released with the map when it's done...
Here's an update while I'm at it: I'm lazy and haven't made a lot of progress over the past month although I do still work on this from time to time. People should stop watching me for a bit - I won't be posting any more updates until I have something significant to show. I kind of regret generating this much interest so early in the project considering I work so slowly. :S I'll be picking up the pace soon once I've worked a few things out that are currently stumping me, though. Maybe I need to stop being so ambitious and keep my map more basic than I intend it to be. |
Don't worry about it. It's a one man project, people should learn to be patient.
|
I totally agree with Havoc ;-))
|
I'm very patient with it Dark because I know how time consuming Minecraft is. Just take your time. It will be all worth it.
|
Nice to see that this is still going, Edd.
Do you think people (that is, us, not random people from the Internet) would be able to help you out with the map if it was hosted on a server? I'd be glad to help out, and I'm sure there are more people here who would assist. I don't know how large the map is, or whether the idea is even possible or worth doing, but I thought I'd suggest it anyway. |
Dark, I found a feeco map in my minecraft wich I make a year ago. I have try to remake some of your textures but mine are fucking...But it's not my problem. The problem is I don't know how to make a skin for some mobs ! Can you give me just the slig skin wich is the most difficult to make for me ? I've try to make a greeter but....lol. Thank you very much if you can send me the slig :)

Please do more work!!!
It NEEDS to be done, plz finish texture!!!!!!

E: This post used to be a gushing, rambling explanation of why I stopped working on this for a few months: Minecraft's limitations got me stumped.
However after some experiments with the latest snapshots, it is in production. Again. Sorta deja-vu. Haven't I been here before? Anyway, stop watching me. Nothing to see here. Next updates will be when both the texture pack and the majority of the level design & set pieces are actually finished in a few months time provided I can pull my finger out of my arse and stop stalling, and then I may ask for help to refine what I've done. And probably in a new topic under a new project name 'cause this one is too cluttered. |
E: Revised question.
I'd like to do this project in a way that I find fun, 'cause I'm awkward. Over the past month I've occasionally been experimenting with stuff while waiting for things to update - What I want to do is possible in Minecraft with mods. Normal MC is too restrictive, and so is doing the map in Tekkit or FTB 'cause they don't have the mods I want to use. Tekkit Launcher supports custom mod packs now, so I'm putting together a mod pack to distribute with the map. It'll be based on MC 1.5 and will include compatible mods. Problem with that is I've been looking through various MC forums and there's a huge drama and controversy surrounding permissions to distribute mods in bundled mod packs - Which I can't imagine why since Minecraft belongs to Mojang and surely nobody except them has any rights to what is made for it? Surely if full author credits are clearly given, it shouldn't be a problem? I'd like to ask mod authors for permission to distribute the mod pack with my map, but I'm paranoid that they'll say "no" 'cause of the aforementioned drama - And also some are hard to get in touch with personally. There are several custom mod packs being distributed already though, so should I just chance it and distribute the mod pack anyway when the map is done, provided I give full, clear credits? Or would that be too disrespectful? Is this even an issue? What do people think? |
Revised above post from "mad ramblings" to "coherent question". And yeah, I'm painfully aware of my mental ineptitude. It's difficult to live with.
Anyway my question still stands. Provided people still watch what I'm doing, can I have some feedback on this? Ta. |
Hrm. Well I'd recommend trying to get into contact with them. If they don't reply, just take that as a yes. If they say no... I don't really know what you'll do then. Just put it in anyway and hope that it flies under their radar?

This is awesome guyz.
I watched the out-takes and I was laughing my moustache off! Keep up the good work. |
