There will probably be a drawback though:

Interesting. It'll be a nice thing to have when you're in the middle of nowhere, but I hope it won't make minecarts obsolete, especially considering some of my tracks don't go places directly.
At least they're relatively safe to travel on at night though. |

It's good that this is starting to turn into a proper RPG survivally type dohickey. The D&D fans will be pleased.
|
And maybe there could be Magic Spells and Quests and other races like Dark Halfling, Half Human, and High Dwarf!
|
Or not. I'd like for there to be quests at least.
|
Can I get all the loot?
|
Sure thang.

Has anyone heard of the far lands? It's this place where shit stops rendering and everything just stops appearing. it is literally the end of the world. It causes your computer to crash if you stay long enough, but no one can get there without a mod...yet.
And now for my sob story. I was diggin in a cave far below the surface of the world, mining for iron and some coal. I came across a pool of lava that crossed with a river, making some natural obsidian. I made sure to remember the spot should I happen across some diamond to mine it. After some screwing around in the caves, I found a big open cavern full of enough ore to fuel any miners wet dream. I hopped around on the stone bridges and mined all of the gold, iron, lapiz-lazuli, and redstone I could find. I check around for more minerals, when I saw it...DIAMONDS. Laughing happily to myself as I mined them all, I thought of all the obsidian I could mine, how big my creeper proof house would be. I went to go back to the mines entrance, when my computer started to lag. See, now when my computer lags, it lags BAD. I have died from trying to turn away from a creeper, only to turn back into it and run toward it. I can count tons of deaths where I have fallen to my death or drowned because of this system. So as I hopped over a pool of lava, my computer lagged, and I fell in. |
Wouldn't it have made more sense to just....stay still.

Nother story. So I come out of my house on top of this big overhang and start heading down the canyon. I was heading to my makeshift dock to go fishing for squid, when I see a creeper. It was standing on one of the indents in the canyon walls, looking at me. Not jumping towards me, not chasing me, not hissing, just looking at me. I got closer and closer, and still it did nothing. My mind went to "charlie the gentle creeper", and i thought that I had encountered a rare gentle creeper. My heart soared, and I eagerly lept down the rocks to join him on his ledge. Making sure to put a square between us, I ate my bread in silence, observing the canyonside like my companion. I looked at my creeper endearingly, and he turned to me, meeting my eyes... and exploded. |
Lol!

Apparently bed-rock can be destroyed. I'll invest in one of Nasa's, soon to be retired, computers to help me with the experiment.

Okay serious questions now.
1. what is the hardest building material, besides obsidian and diamond. I need a stronger fort. 2. What use is there for netherrack 3. My account won't let me craft shears. 4. My compass won't point towards where I spawn, which is my fort. 5. If you have a bow and arrow, do you constantly need to make more arrows 6. How does you fire arrows. That is all. Thanks for any help! |
:
I think another problem is that to prevent griefing, an AI automatically bans anyone who drops bedrock from their inventory. Even admins will get banned. 2. IDK. I don't go into the nether often mainly because if I go back and forth from the over world to the nether, my computer will crash due to a memmory allocation failure. If I need to go to the nether, I restart Minecraft befor the game gets too laggy. This web page may give you an answer: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Crafting 3. IDK. Check the FAQ on the official web site or the Minecraft forums for your answer. 4. Compasses and other stuff won't work in the Nether. 5. You do need to make arrows for you bow and arrow. 6. If you have the bow in your hand and arrows in your inventory, simply right click. |

EDIT: hmm, apparently ops can also destroy bedrock. Havoc, I'll give you diamonds if you make a gap into the void beneath my house. |

What use is there for a building stronger than obsidian? |

Skeletons also drop arrows when they die, try running around the world after daybreak to collect them off of fallen mobs. :
|
Alright, thanks guys.
I was screwing around looking for minecraft papercraft, and I found a new mod that allows for more creatures. It's called the Mo' Creatures mod. It can give you dolphins and horses and stuff like that, but the problem I have with it is that some of the animals, like the "new" wolves, are too detailed to look properly minecraftian. But apparantly, you can go to the menu and turn some mobs off, like pirannahs. Here's the link: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/...and-name-tags/ |
Abe skin for Minecraft.
MOD EDIT: This post (and the two following) merged from its own thread.
Download it, try it out, and post feed back. |
It's pretty cool, but was there a need to make a thread just because of it? I think someone posted a Slig skin too.
|
Yeah, I think I'll merge it.
|
I have no idea what that was about, but okay.
What is the most annoying hostile mob? While we're at it, what it the most annoying passive mob? The one I hate the most are the skeleton archers. Those bastards are impossible to hit, and they attack from a distance, so you take a lot of damage before you actually get to them. That and the Ghasts. Even if they're facing the other way, they can still spit flaming snowballs at you? I call bullshit. As for the non-hostile mobs, chickens, cows, and pigs annoy me. Pushing me off of cliffs and getting in my way...But mostly the chickens. I need eggs for a cake, and I need to follow one around to get it? |
Skeleton archers are very annoying. If you have a good open space it's not hard to strafe around their arrows, but when you get to playing peek-a-boo with them they have lightning fast reflexes that will get you the millisecond you poke your head out.
Ghasts are even more annoying than creepers. There's no evading them, when one gets you in its sights you just have to spend time taking it out, else the netherack beneath your feet will be very quickly eroded. |
When I get my new computer I may get this game. You guy'll have to help me get up to speed
|
Skeletons are easy enough to deal with on open ground and if there are obstacles you do this:

Do you think it's ready to be uploaded? |
There aren't really any hard mobs, even creepers no longer worry me because on the server I use we have the explosions turn off so while they give you damage they leave no physical scar.
|
That's nice to know, but we're talking about the real game.
|

In this case I suppose I meant unmodded.
Saying that 'there aren't any really hard mobs' because your server cheated and turned explosions off is just stupid. You might as well play on peaceful and brag about how you explore caves in the dark without any armour. |
I play on survival and I explore caves in the dark with no armor :p
|
We still have explosions there's just no physical effect on the environment, if a creeper goes boom nearby you'll still lose all your gear.
|
It still kinda take the fun out of Minecraft though, annoying as explosions are.
|
Hey, it means there aren't any big holes on...the beach....so it's all good.
|
I hate how my computer lags during a really important part in the game, like when I'm in a cave and I can hear a skeleton around the corner, or when I'm jumping over a lava pit. I have my fog up to full...um, fogginess, and it's still slow as fuck. I deal with it though, somehow.
Does anyone know any good seeds? |
I used "Oh, fuck off you whiny, ignorant, self-absorbed, hateful, spiteful, detestable, horrendus fucking excuse for a human being!"
It was pretty shit. |
>rolls eyes< I bet it was.
