Lol Owain, funnily enough I did know that phrase, it's like that and bore da...because of Ivor The Engine. XD

Varrok 02-01-2012 08:07 AM

Damn cartoons never aired in my country! :|

Spooce-aholic 02-01-2012 10:43 AM

I thought Rupture Farms would look better if the fog and lights were green.

JennyGenesis 02-01-2012 12:08 PM

I assume they will be green for Zulag 4.

Zulag 1 and 2 are orange, zulag 3 is blue and zulag 4 is green

OK, you're right. I checked and Zulag 1 and 2 are orange.

You should make the strength of the fog depend on the render distance. But that is up to you of course.

Fog Sheets:

Simple but usefull. Probably gonna use it if i come back to my remake :P.

And btw. If i remember corretly your remake is done on Unity Engine. Am i right?

currently the for strength is just about enough to hide the level boundaries, mostly in the case of the exterior levels such as paramonia and scrabania

so whats the status of your project now?

Fartuess 02-03-2012 09:16 AM

Status? Frozen. I don't have loads of time for modding, and urrently my project is High Poly T-90 Tank(link1 link2 link3), next finishing new Volvo S60 model, and then probably i will come back to my project, update a couple of things on scene, upgrade some textures and models and maybe start to program some gameplay (Unreal script code doesn't look so scary for me now :) ).

I have to find strenght inside myself and just break through everything. I don't like feeling that my old project is collecting dust.

nowtun 02-04-2012 06:49 AM

the tanks looks pretty cool, you gonna texture it after?

Fartuess 02-04-2012 02:19 PM

Nope. Just high poly stuff i want in my portfolio. When i finish HP i won't be spending time on LP, UV's and textures but go to other project instead. Like that Volvo or my RF scene.

DAZDOUG 02-05-2012 08:11 AM

Amazing, I love how you can have a 3d perspective of the game and create it keep up this amazing work :)

nowtun 02-06-2012 03:36 AM

hey thanks man :-), zulag 2 is on its way, as soon as i get my slig finished for sekto

Queen Skillya 12-28-2012 12:02 AM

Really impressed! Keep up the good work! :)

Crashpunk 12-31-2012 01:24 PM

Judging how the last post made prior to your own was in February. I don't think "good work" has been made in a long time.

nowtun 01-11-2013 05:35 PM

Thats actually very true, work on this hasnt been done in a while but I have got back to it this past week.

I took some time off from this project cuz of some personal issues in my life, Lisa (my other half) was diagnosed with cancer a few days after my last post so oddworld was one of those things that couldnt be further from my mind at the time. Thankfully shes now on the road to recovery and all the cancer treatment is finished, she is now undergoing treatment for the effects of the original operation that she had to have to remove the tumour (it was in her tear duct so it was a pretty serious op).

But enough doom and gloom, I am still working on this project. All the levels are mostly completed, just some minor details to fill in such as shrubery and so on. I also have the temples and the exterior of rupture fams to complete but thats it. I will then move on to modeling the characters and animate them and so on.
Im probably not gunna update this thread as often as i did, i found that it distracted me from actually working on the project itself, procrastination is my greatest enemy lol.
I wont be upladinging anything untill its completed nether, so no more WIPs from me im affraid. and anything that I do upload will be on my youtube page and my deviant art page and whoever is interested is probably already following me on there anyway.

oh and I am still looking for a reliable programer. but if i dont find one by the time i finish the art side of the project, im gunna give codeacademy another look and try and do it myself :-S

And thank for the comment Queen Skillya (im guessing ur refrencing my deviant page?)

nOWtun

PS thanks for bumping my thread up again hehe :-p

STM 01-12-2013 03:10 AM

Crikey, Owain! Send her my regards, mate.

nowtun 01-12-2013 10:55 AM

thanks man, I will do :-)
she says hi hehe

Hulaabeo 01-14-2013 02:20 AM

Well, I suppose you can take your time with this, it's not like we're cracking down on you or anything. P:

nowtun 03-23-2013 01:26 PM

hey guys, as promised, heres a sneaky peak of what im currently finishing off.
theyre all just test shots but they are near enough the finished product (minus the characters)
Im expecting to ge this section wraped up by the end of april.

thanks

STM 03-23-2013 01:37 PM

Hey, awesome to see you're still working on this Owain, looks great! =D

Splat 03-23-2013 02:22 PM

Wow, that is very cool. I don't think I ever posted in here before, mostly 'cus experience makes me expect all fan-made projects of any ambition to crash and burn really early, but this is looking great! Hope you can prove me wrong!

Oddey 03-23-2013 02:45 PM

I love the way you've translated the stockyards into 3D, something which until just now I thought would be impossible. Well done Nowtun, you impressive old chap.

This actually looks good. Glad to see your evolution on 3D.

DarkHoodness 03-24-2013 08:21 PM

Now that is impressive - Having thought about how to do a similar thing, I know that producing a 3D version of the Stockyards isn't easy. Good work. :) And it's nice to know that this is still being worked on.

hey thanks :-), it was pretty tricky getting it all to work but certain parts of scrabania were tougher(thats for a future post).
im a man of my word hehe, i'll finish this damn project even if it kills me.

i was actually worried about the stockyards/freefire zone, especialy the secret bird portal locations.
thanks, you.... kind old chap lol

yeah when i first joined this forum i gathered there was a history of fan projects eventually going south, but im too stuborn to just give up hehe, even with the official remake on the horizon (which I cant wait for)

Hey, awesome to see you're still working on this Owain, looks great! =D

thanks man, yeah im still ploding along, its almost done tho, ive just got characters to do and im just putting all the assets together now and building the levels up (which to be honest can get quite boring lol) Im about 75% complete with the whole thing (not including the codeing, which I am again looking for a programer) but if I dont find one by the time im done making everything, im gunna give codeacademy a look, see if I can teach myself how to code hehe

Phylum 03-25-2013 03:24 PM

If you're using Unity I may be able to help out with the coding stuff. I'm the farthest thing from a real programmer, but I understand the underlying concepts of how a game runs and I've played with Unity a bit in the past. I'm currently building a 2D game engine from scratch in Java, but moving into an extra dimension add huge new layers of complexity.

I have next to no spare time, but I have a two week holiday coming up, so let me know soon if you want me to look at what I can do.

so far Unity's the only program that Ive found that works with Lightwave objects in fbx form.

that'd be great if you could, plus it keeps it as part of the forums "fan projects" hehe
im going away towards the end of the week over easter, but any times cool with me, I could always whip up a small room quickly and re-rig abe if i cant find his fbx.
let me know what you think you'll need.

Phylum 03-25-2013 09:36 PM

Oh, so have you done anything code related? I can do some of the more menial tasks and work around the default physics engine, but I doubt I have the skills to do the entire thing.

That said, I doubt there's much I can't do given enough time. AI/the entire GanmeSpeak thing is definitely outside of my capabilities. At the very least I could put some scripts together and we could work from there.
