Well this is a Meetle, and these are Mugs. As you can see, they're very similar and grow up from the same grub depending on whether that grub is fed meat or vegetable matter.

The Magog Cartel uses lots of technology that was built by the Vykkers, including Greeters, Snoozers and Shrinks. In this sense, the Magog Cartel is simply a major customer of Vykkers technology. As the Vykkers also hold Sam, the Cartel gets all its Mudokons from them as well.

You know everything don't you? But in truth thanks for that, I never knew the difference between them until now.

Cullen Heath 12-11-2005 08:08 AM

So the Vykkers hold Sam as a prisoner?
And what are Shrinks?

Thanks max, that clears things up.

Nearly all (if not all) the technology the Cartel depends on has come straight from Vykkers Labs.

Go search around TOGG for some images, Xavier has included all of the images of oddworld that OWI has let us leech to.

The Magog Cartel is the mercantilistic nation controlled by the Glukkon Queen Maggie. Below her are her numerous sons who carry out her bidding and control the numerous factories and corporations that the Cartel depends on for profit.

EDIT: Damn you Max!

;)

Yeah, Sam was originally going to be in Vykkers Labs, but obviously she wasn't, or Abe's primary mission there would be to rescue her. However, the Vykkers still sell Labour Eggs, so they must be producing them through Sam.

Shrinks are spider-like robots with advanced artificial intelligence designed by the Vykkers to keep highly important slaves and workers productive. The best example would be Sam, who is suicidally depressed, but has a Shrink to keep her alive and producing Mudokon eggs. If you've seen the Guardian Angel movie in Abe's Oddysee, that's a Shrink.

There's alos a pic of Sam's immense birthing center which if you look colsely, you can see a few other Shrinks flying swooping down and up. Pretty strange in my opinion.

Wierd. Does anyone know where i can find a web page which contains all the info on Oddworld; as in, all the creatures and some things about the storyline?

metroixer 01-07-2006 04:52 PM

Maybe its a certain website called

www.oddworld.com

but what do I know? It's just a guess. (;))

Wil 01-08-2006 06:51 AM

The Oddworld Library is a good bet if you're looking for Oddworld art and all the little tidbits of info that can be gained from reading interviews, old websites and chat logs, but if you're looking for some kind of Oddworld Encyclopædia, there might possibly be one somewhere, sometime.

oddveteran93 01-12-2006 05:05 PM

Does anyone know how to, or if there's a program that can unpack DDV files (OW Movie Files)?

P.S: Who started this forum?

Wil 01-13-2006 11:34 AM

The Oddworld Forums were started by a user called Icarus… oh wait, no, it was Sydney. Sydney founded the Forums way back before the turn of the century, I believe. If you go in the Members List and click on Date Joined (you may have to scroll to the last page if the list shows the most recently-joined members) you'll see that Sydney has a lovely pink title of “Forum Founder.”

Wil 01-19-2006 11:36 AM

Yo, I've unstickied this thread so it can be replaced, but feel free to continue any unfinished conversations here.

Xavier 01-19-2006 12:25 PM

I'm afraid I can't help you finding the measures of it... but it is in the game, can't you make a rough estimate with that?

Cullen Heath 01-19-2006 02:35 PM

I know the measurements of the creatures, so you can compare them to the Wolvark Vehicle, it that would help.

oddveteran93 01-19-2006 04:47 PM

I've got a question, why does oddworld have so many continents if they're never gonna be used in games?

Cullen Heath 01-19-2006 04:58 PM

From now and on, can everyone please use the new "Oddworld Q & A" section that Max so generously made?

But, since your question is already here, I'll do my best:
Oddworld is a WORLD. It has to have bunches of continents, for the sake of the Creation of Oddworld. Hopefully we will see them all in the future, but no matter what, they must be there. That's kinda like you saying: Why is Indonesia here, I've never been there? (Assuming you've never been to Indonesia)
They are just there, even though we haven't seen them, you can't just wipe them away.

oddveteran93 01-19-2006 05:01 PM

I gues so, but Oddworld is a fictional planet (as much as I know). And also, I have been to Indonesia. Hey cool you have 999 posts.

Cullen Heath 01-19-2006 05:37 PM

And as of now (Actually as soon as I hit that "Post reply" button) I have 1001.

So, you HAVE been to Indonesia? What part?

EDIT: Mods, dearly sorry for going offtopic, but it's my home.

Wil 01-20-2006 09:55 AM

Oddworld's many continents, on top of providing a believable setting for the Quintology and related stories, also has the practical benefit of allowing stories to be continued or completely new stories to be created without resorting to retcons - the changing of established canon - it allows Lorne to create wild deviations in geography and culture that one country might not plausibly be able to provide.

HobbitNinj 01-21-2006 04:37 PM

Ever since I played the 1st Oddworld game all those years ago, Iv'e had this nagging question in the back of my mind: what is that thing on the back of a mudokon's loin cloth? Is it a pouch of some kind?

Nate 01-21-2006 11:25 PM

I always figured it was a knot that held it all together. Censor's glue works wonders but it can't do everything, after all.

mudling 01-22-2006 02:30 AM

for some reason, i thought it was something..that helped the gas through, it's realy odd, but i think i've read it somewhere..
either that, or it's a pouch. ;) to store all of those rocks and grenades. ;) (yes, the mud in my siggy is just taking something out of the other muds back pouch....)

Xavier 01-22-2006 02:53 AM

I allway saw it as a kind of poket to store meat, grenades and rocks

Wil 01-22-2006 11:17 AM

It's a pocket.

And I think I need to close this all future questions can be posted in the new 'n' improved Questions and Answers thread:
