You do realise you have to draw other peoples art too?

I'm sure he does. Many of us started with just one frame introducing our character.
Just a tip - never use Jpeg format for this.

Because Jpegs blurr the image making text hard to read, characters hard to make out and the whole thing difficult to copy+paste from. Quite often I copy+paste parts of comics as opposed to drawing the whole thing again poorly or wrong.
It shouldn't be a biggy, just save your images as Png's ;)

Actually it is possible to make JPEGs without much distortion. In photoshop for example, just set the accuracy/quality to 100%. Filesize will be a bit larger but it shouldn't have large artifacts in it or anything like that.

I get into the habit of using Microsoft Paint's atrocious JPEG save functionality that pretty much violates the original picture in every way.

I don't have or use photoshop so I just use PNG's because they are my only option aside JPEG's which are low quality. There are obviously other formats for my images but seeing as I have been advised to use PNG's I will untill I find a suitable alternative.

And Carnix, Fuzzy messes should get their own website and dedicated web comic. I promise you you'll make a load of money. You have a particular sense of humor the internet can appreciate and the fuzzy messes are so simple and fun. I kid you not, it could work.

Oh. Unexpected. I mean, this latest comic wasn't much, compared to some other stuff I did/do. Rather sketchy, I think.

Well, for one thing, there's Exchange Alien, if you haven't already seen it (check sig for link), and some other stuff on dA. Other than that, not much, though I can imagine myself drawing comics for (one half) a living... I'd say there's not much money in it, unless you come up with a real hit.

Sometimes, I show my comics to people, and they seem to find them good, but I can't help thinking that they find comic-drawing a pitiable 'occupation'. Then again, there's not a single newspaper without a comic strip these days, so there still might be some gold buried here.


Gotta agree. Most of your comics are really memorable, Carnix, like the 'well-placed graffiti' and a certain incident with the covering Secret Service Squirtles.

Well placed graffiti was classic. Carnix makes unnecessary use of transparency awesome(just noticed it on his avatar)

Oh and the other thing with the fuzzy messes being awesome; My humour is unfortunately dormant when without anything to play off of, "material", without the other characters in this thread the fuzzy-purple-mess-with-red-eyes and the fuzzy-green-mess-with-orange-eyes would be nothing. I'm afraid no website would host them anywhere near as good as this one.
