My goodness! How unusual it would be for birds to have hollows in their bones and bills!

Curses! I shall have to create a new Q&A thread shortly.

Hulaabeo 08-08-2007 02:57 PM

Bird bones are hollow

Zerox 08-09-2007 02:55 AM

I didn't mean just the bones, I meant the whole damn thing! If there's anything there other than a layer of skin covered in feathers, then that thing ain't flying. I mean, look at it! LOOK! AT! IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!

Bullet Magnet 08-09-2007 06:25 AM

Try to think more in alien terms than Earth. This is Oddworld afterall.

Perhaps they have a flight bladder full of lighter-than-air gas (eg Hydrogen or Methane) that aids in flight, reducing their weight. That's certainly my explanation for the Boombats' flight capabilities and inflammable nature, anyhoo.

Hulaabeo 08-09-2007 07:06 AM

Since Mudflubs ae known species what do they look like?

moxco 08-10-2007 12:42 AM

What's this?

What's this?

It looks like some sort of factory meant for MO or SW. It's got a website address on the bottom, I tried to see what it was, but it isn't clear enough.

Zerox 08-10-2007 03:43 AM

Looks a bit...well, dark for Oddworld. Seems more like a Citizen Siege thing or something, really.

They've only been mentioned in Paul O'Connor's Developer Diaries. We have not yet seen any images of them.

Its something thats from the Brutal Ballad of Fangus Klot

Lorne did a vocal impression of them in a GDC talk he gave. The video is probably still somewhere, but I certainly don’t have it at the moment.

Wasn't that pic in the load of Fangus pics that was posted on OWF?

Xavier 08-11-2007 04:48 AM

Actually no one knows for sure what's from Fangus and what's not, Silvio wasn't realy clear. Sorry for that, I tried to sort it out the best I could.

Bullet Magnet 08-11-2007 02:13 PM

You must admit, it does look very Fangus.

Nolybab maybe?

Nolybab maybe?

Nolybab's more of a city. Knowing what Glukkons are like, it would be way more decorated, stylised etc.

Xavier 08-12-2007 12:30 PM

looks like a giant oil pump with a city around it

If you ever find it, would you please share it?

Is there any chance that oddworld inhabitants is mereley taking a break from games to do one or two movies then they will go back to making the games?

Fuzzle King 08-17-2007 10:04 AM

yes i think they will finish doing the citezin siege movie(and maybe a game of it)and then focus on more oddworld games and the movie.

Taytay 08-17-2007 10:36 AM

Oh okay, well thats good news.

I have the soft covered Art of Oddworld book, without spoiling it by being way to specific, what does the limited edition have that the soft covered doesnt have?

Fuzzle King 08-17-2007 11:15 AM

i dont have one myself, but i have read that:
theres only 1000 copies,it is made with leather and its unique.there is other stuff about it.see here:http://www.ballisticpublishing.com/books/oddworld/

Actually, both the Oddworld movie and the Citizen Siege project is happening at once, except the Citizen Siege project is suppose to be the main focus at the moment. The Citizen Siege project is actually not just composed of the movie; it is suppose to have two games relating to Citizen Siege with the movie. The games are suppose to come out before the movie. Which should be around 2009 or 2010.

What do you mean by ‘happening’? The Oddworld film is not in production, but has been in pre‐production for several years.

How exactly would you know that? Have they told us it is in pre production/not in production?

It's Max. He's just all-knowing.

The entire story and enviormental things are already plotted out. The story for the games was originaly intended to be a movie and will more then likely show up again in the movie. So yea, in that aspect the movie has been in preproduction for a good 10 years now.

Have they told us it’s in pre‐production? Yes. There are production paintings, and we know there was a screenplay being passed around a couple of years ago. Have they told us it’s not in production? Virtually. They’re moving onto it after Citizen Siege, and CS is barely into production proper.

Jordan 08-22-2007 01:56 PM

I have a question. In the AE backstory video one of the Muds mention they gave Abe the ability to talk. Surely Abe could talk before that?

Wil 08-22-2007 02:16 PM

Abe didn’t have the ability to talk before GameSpeak was devised for the game. You don’t think that narrator is an in‐universe character, do you?

Where is that website that has a list of all the interviews and stuff? I think it was in the Oddworld Library before but I can't find it.
Is there a website or link or something that lists all the MO changes?
What does a Chronicler(sp) do?
How do those little Sloggies tackle Abe? (I know it is a gameplay mechanic but its fun to come up with another reason)
What is the deal with Munches moon? I thought the Mudokons were the chosen ones, not the Gabbits.

Yes. We called it The Oddworld Archives, but it went down for redevelopment as The Oddworld Scriptures. It was well on its way to being completed when my hard drive failed and I lost all my work on TOL.

p.s. I checked The Wayback Machine in case it had archived our archives. Sadly, it found the page but, because TOA was made up of frames, it couldn’t archive it.

Alcar had information on this on an older version of Oddworld Universe, but there’s no complete list that I know of.

What does a Chronicler(sp) do?

They are lawyers, accountants, and stock brokers.

What is the deal with Munches moon? I thought the Mudokons were the chosen ones, not the Gabbits.

It was millennia ago that Mudokons interpreted the Mudokon paw moon as a symbol of their divinity, and this arrogant conclusion was what led to the downfall of their civilization. Nowadays, Mudokons see the moon as an omen that foretells Abe’s saving his people, hence their calling it Abe’s Moon. Munch’s Moon can be interpreted in just the same way.

It's clear alright. I hade close up on it,Outlighted it its correct

mudling 09-17-2007 03:11 AM

There is a certain picture of a vyker entering a freezer room, with it's walls lined with several bodies in water, all of them unseen before besides the gabbit looking ones. The door looks pretty secure, and the room behind it, pretty suspicious and mysterious.
My question is, was this just concept art purley for insperation, or was their a freezer level or something to do with this area of what seems like vyker's labs planned, and then scrapped.
Did it have any signifacance, like the lawyer scene which was cut, and what was it if known?
There are what seems like gabbits pictured, so maybe they are just an oddworld version of frozen, and could be put back to life again, or maybe the gabbiar was supposed to be inside. It's probably not important, I just thought the picture was quite interesting.
P.S. I believe the picture is in TOGG, and it is in the oddworld art book.

Bullet Magnet 09-17-2007 04:17 AM

I looked to me like Formaldehyde.

I agree, formaldehyde. I am familiar with it. Frozen would be white around them, not so clear, plus the bodies wouldn't float like that. Plus I doubt Gabbits would be considered extinct if there were some ready for unfreezing at any given time.

Just seems like concept art, a fairly normal area of Vykkers Labs (to them...)

Nate 09-17-2007 05:00 PM

It seemed to me like a concept sketch rather than anything significant. What do you mean by "the lawyer scene"?

Bullet Magnet 09-18-2007 12:37 AM

I imagine it is another reference to Mr Chronicler.

mudling 09-18-2007 12:53 AM

Oh ok.
Also, maybe that is the way they freeze things in oddworld, and but I guess you're right, and maybe they do not have the technoligy, but they are working on it, like how we have frozen people like Einstein, and possible stashed things like frozen mamoths away, maybe for DNA collection. (it is possible or nearly possible to make clones of Mammoths, maybe it is possible to make clones of extenct speacies through DNA or something).
Yes I do, I think it mentions somewhere, possibly in the art book that there was a lawyer seen planned, for abe and munch, in MO, and chroniclers would be involved, but it got cut.
