I can't help but notice how no one explained to me yet why there is a New Testament and why the old one suddenly doesn't matter anymore?

I never understood the whole old testament, new testament thing. Does that mean that the new testament is like The Bible 2.0 or something?

crimsonxking 07-24-2010 04:01 PM

OT was before Jesus. NT was about Jesus. Most Bibles you see laying around have both.

Sekto Springs 07-24-2010 04:06 PM

You forgot DLT.

Wings of Fire 07-24-2010 04:08 PM

Also, Old Testement is an interesting blend of stories and history that are meant to be used for the purposes of education.

New Testament is the Gospels, which are supposed to be factually based, and the rest of it is historical documents such as letters that explain the rise of Christianity after the Apostles.

Most entertaining way to read the Bible.

It's still a stupid poser label.

Why would you even call yourself a Satanist, LaVeyan or not unless you want to make some sort of impression.

Because you want to make an impression.

If you're useful to a Satanist and they feel like manipulating you into getting what they want, you can expect them to either intimidate you, seduce you, or mislead you into thinking that what they want would be a good thing to do.

And we'll use that impression as best we can to get what we want.

Well, I won't, because I'm actually incredibly rich and have everything I want.

In this comic that I drew.

Secondly, he actually has no idea what a commandment is. The ninth commandment of LaVeyan Satanism is a statement, not a commandment. It's also one of those things that looks deep and meaningful until you realize how superficial it actually is.

Actually, that just proves that he's more knowledgable than the last 2000-years worth of Western theologicians. The Ten Commandments aren't commandments either; the phrase in Hebrew translates literally to "The Ten Things" and, coincidentally enough, non-literally to "The Ten Statements".

Because of this mistranslation, Christianity has had to shift the border between the first and second 'Statements' in order to turn the first in to an active 'Commandment'. Different streams of Christianity set the border seperately, but you can see that what they all have in common is that what is the second commandment in Judaism is included in the first for the Christian ones.

:

#1: I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery
#2: Do not have any other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an idol...(etc)
#3: You shall not make wrongful use of the name of your God.

#2: You shall not make wrongful use of the name of your God.
#10 is split in to two lower down.

:

Preface: I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery
#1: Do not have any other gods before me.
#2: You shall not make for yourself an idol...(etc)
#3: You shall not make wrongful use of the name of your God.

Stop showing off, that's totally not what LaVey intended and you know it.

Oh, I'm sorry, Peter Gilmore. I didn't realize you had been LaVey's close and personal friend and knew exactly what he meant.

Strike Witch 07-24-2010 06:57 PM

LaFag

Wings of Fire 07-24-2010 06:58 PM

So you should be.

Commandment or not, the ninth 'thing' of LaVeyan Satanism isn't internally consistent with the other eight.

Nemo 07-24-2010 07:00 PM

Edit: Fine, ninja me.

The Ninth Satanic Statement is "Satan has been the best friend the Christian Church has ever had, as He has kept it in business all these years."

If you want to know what LaVey meant behind this, he meant that without the temptation of sin or fear of punishment, Churches would be, for the most part, useless.

Wings of Fire 07-24-2010 07:03 PM

I'm sorry if my terminology of LaVeyan Satanism is limited to that stupid poser video you posted about a year ago.

I stand corrected, LaVey wasn't an idiot.

But he was still a douche.

Nemo 07-24-2010 07:04 PM

Most people are.

Wings of Fire 07-24-2010 07:09 PM

oh god

the nihilism

I'm drooooowning!

STM 07-25-2010 02:52 AM

Has anyone heard of the (false) god Moloch? What is wholly unbelievable is that he is still worshipped! Slightly similar to true Satanism in all it's rituals and occult belief such as sacrificing true babies to a burning oven in the shape of Moloch's head. (Of course this is frowned upon now so they just use baby dolls now, because that's not messed up at all)

Nemo 07-25-2010 05:19 AM

Did you know they took the word "Gullible" out of the dictionary?

They confuse what is normal for their society as being what their religion says is okay. They do this because they haven't bothered reading their source material.

Well; I must say, there are Christians out there who do this...I suppose makes them less Christian then they say they are; but as I fellow Christian, I do not like to question another person's faith regardless of my own opinions.

And also; personally, I do not confuse society's morals with Christian morals. What the Bible has taught me is that we inherit sin from past generations and seeing how long the human race has been going for and the horrible things we have done in the past; it is quite easy to sin, I'm not saying its acceptable but everyone in society does it. But I am truly repentant when I commit sin; therefore God shall forgive me as long as I acknowledge that what I have done is wrong and do my best not to do it again, however...like you mentioned; some Christians confuse this and think that this means they can get away with anything which is most defiantly wrong.

Sins of the father are not passed to the son, how can you be held responsible for what some fuck-wits did way back when. That's like saying that all Germans are still Nazi bastards.

EDIT EDIT: Read the last page and thought, 'Smug, pious prick.'
