Well, I want to get LA Noire which is out now...but also I'm pretty set on Arkham City and Warhammer 40K: Space Marine.

Got to admit, looks really cool but I still have no interest at all to Gears. I have 1 and 2 but still haven't got further than beating the tutorial. I find them boring.

Perhaps if you passed the tutorial you wouldn't.

What I meant was that I mainly played through the first two levels or so in both games and found it boring. I know they're good, most people like Gears, I'm quite sure they're good too but I just have no interest in completing them.

Pretty much. The first was alright because it was pretty and sort of original and the story was decent. But the second? Come on. I don't give a fuck about Dom, or Maria, or how sad Dom is, or any of this other stupid bullshit. Gears 2 was just a big polished turd that reaffirmed my distaste for Cliff Bleszinski. It was like he said, "Okay, the first game was a success, we have a small army of fan boys at our disposal, let's just rest on our laurels and see how batshit they go this time. Oh, and let's make the final boss/ending a total joke and waste of time. That would be funny, right?"

I don't know, a tutorial is a pretty good insight into a game. The Gears tutorial sucks. Gears is mediocre. Can't blame the kid for knowing what he likes.

Gears of War is very boring and overrated. Just like most shooters.

They just derailed the story in Gears 2. I can understand wanting to give it more of a personal touch to try and make it hit home, or strike a nerve, but it failed. Big time. With the way the first game was set up, and even ended, it had the makings of a fairly good gritty sci-fi/post apocalyptic story. Even the addition of the locust civil war in Gears 2 sort of piqued my interest. But there was just no coming back from that Bullshit with Dom.

I'm really looking forward to Arkham City.

I'll probably rent it. It takes a lot for me to drop down 60 bucks on a game these days.

I got Arkham Asylum as a gift, so no skin off my bones. Doubt I'll have that same luck twice. Gaming isn't a very economical hobby these days. I can't help but wonder how my one jobless friend has such an extensive collection of next-gen games.
I usually wait a while for the price to go down, then pick it up at Gamestop or Exchange for half the price or lower. That can take a while though. I only just got around to Bioshock 2 last week.

Tutorials are usually a terrible insight for difficulty, set pieces, enemy variety, you know, things that matter. Im not saying you can't dislike Gears, Im saying dislike it for legitimate reasons. Gears 2 has one of the better shooter campaigns in recent memory, and Horde mode is still the best of its kind IMO. Dont know what you guys are smoking. I will say that I love the universe and art, but the story is executed pretty poorly, as is in most games though.

Anyway, the mechanics of gears are decent if you like running, slamming into something, popping up, shooting, ducking, running, slamming, popping up, shooting, running, slamming, lobbing grenade, running, slamming, timing your reload, popping up, OH NO FLANKED BECAUSE THE CAMERA AND YOUR TEAMS AI SUCKS DICK

I played both games from start to finish, plus multiplayer. I don't hate them, I just think they're not as good as people make them out to be. But my total hatred for Cliff B. [cliffy, really?] weighs heavily into my opinion.

Serious Sam is a cool series and that looks exciting but the weapons look really bland/generic/boring. I hope the more creative stuff isn't being shown just to not scare away the COD crowd.
