Is it late enough in the year that we can start posting Sufjan Christmas tracks yet?
I don't even care, I listened to Silver and Gold for the first time this year in April. |

When I was younger I loved a folk band called The Arrogant Worms. It was the first band I really sought out. I can't remember why I stopped listening to them, but my appreciation for folk music likely has its roots here. They were/are very Canadian but most of their songs have a simple structure.
This was my absolute favourite song as a kid. I listened to it for hours on end. This is hard on the ears. |

RUN THE FUCKING JEWELS 2 CAME OUT BITCHES
I'm liking this more than the first RTJ fuck the slowmo Some new Rocky. hot ass beat imma do great thiings |
Prior to the last couple of days, I've been genuinely untouched by pop music. Not for any haughty reason I think, just personal preference and an inclination to avoid that which is 'too loud.'
Things change, however. Things change for the better. |

Loving this album so hard right now. So many grooves, such angular riffs. God damn. Some of the best stuff I've heard in a while. |
I'm trying to learn about Russia before it decimates my country. |

Normally I don't bother to contribute to the pretentious circle jerk that is Music V6 ;) but I think I'll make an exception for what is a really amazing album.

LIFE WOULD BE So much better IF YOU DID NOT EXIST |
So the year's pretty much wrapped up, what were you guys' favourite albums of 2014? My album of the year would probably be Run the Jewels - Run the Jewels 2, just enjoyed it so much. Bangin' beats from El-P and straight hot fire bars from Killer Mike (and El too of course). I also really liked Arca - Xen, Freddie Gibbs & Madlib - Pinata, clipping. - CLPPNG and a few others.

It was a pretty good year, overall. Here's a few of my favourite albums from this year:
Death metal with progressive rock tendencies. Kicks ass. Not much more to say. My favourite metal release of 2014 (there were quite a few great ones too, death metal especially). Have a Nice Life are pretty hard to classify, but I guess if I had to use a single word to describle this word it'd be ghostly. Very sombre, bleak and otherwordly. And I fucking love it. I hardly listened to any hip-hop this year for some reason. In fact this and CLPPNG are probably the only ones I've heard all year. But this release is my favourite from Dopp Gang in their career so far. Groovy, varied beats, consistent lyrics and a real sense of passion from the duo make this album fun as hell even after many many listens. ...and the new Weezer album, because it rocks. |
Edit: Whoops!

Mr. Oizo made one of my favorite movies. He also makes techno music.
