Wings of Fire 07-29-2009 03:21 PM

Been listening to a lot of older Skyclad recently as well as lots and lots of lovely hypnotic j-rock.

YEAH BITCHES

I think that Modest Mouse's best days are behind them. I haven't expected much from them since We Were Dead.

And I am unfamiliar with Why.

Yes. But i did like the new songs that came out on vinyl WHICH I OWN. Satellite Skin and Guilty Cocker Spaniels. Better than WWDBTSEADSFJADhwhateverthefuck.

Hobo 07-30-2009 03:27 AM

Deltron 3030 - Deltron 3030 is a fucking solid album.

Xavier 07-30-2009 08:42 AM

I pre-ordered the first Guilt Machine album, prog-rock/metal by mastermind Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon)

I've been refraining from listening to it until I get the full e.p. in a few weeks. I'm hoping to like it. God knows, I adore their others.

OANST 08-10-2009 01:26 PM

I kept waiting for someone to post in here so I wouldn't have to double post, but you fuckers never did. Anyway, I picked up "No One's First And You're Next", the new ep by Modest Mouse. Aaaaand......It's good! It really is good! It's far superior to "We Were Dead...". The fact that "The Whale Song", "Autumn Beds", and "King Rat" were left off of "We Were Dead.." is more than enough reason to fire the shit out of whoever has been whispering in Brock's ear. If those three songs had replaced the three worst songs on that album it would have been up there as one of the best MM albums ever made.

Aside from that, I would like to make a recommendation to those of you who are into Mr. Bungle. Check out Revolting Cocks. This shit should be right up your alley. Particularly the album "Finger Licken' Good".

Anonyman! 08-12-2009 07:41 PM

I know right?

Also, HOLY FUCK Ugly Casanova. Brilliant. Only just now cared to listen to it. Damn i am an idort.

OANST 08-12-2009 08:47 PM

If you like Ugly Casanova then make sure to check out Holopaw. That's the band that the guy with the pretty voice comes from.

Laser 08-13-2009 03:42 AM

I just discovered The Stone Roses.

I have been listening to their first album and I have to say, its very good :D

Facsimile 08-13-2009 04:24 PM

I've been listening to Mew lately. Anyone else heard them? They're labeled 'indie dream pop'. I only have Frengers, but it's really great.

Make sense.

Leto 08-14-2009 01:19 PM

I liked Mew when I was a 16 year old girl.

They kind of sound like Greys Anatomy + Japan

Mac Sirloin 08-14-2009 10:50 PM

Frengers, the deluxe new hand-fixture from Ryan Industries!

I would be insulted, but you hate everything anyway, so it definitely takes weight away from your negative opinions.

I don't know who that is. But Frengers = not quite friends, not quite strangers.

Josh 08-19-2009 01:06 AM

Anybody else like Katy Perry?

OddjobAbe 08-19-2009 01:11 AM

She makes me want to slowly push a lit matchstick through my ears.

Talking of matchsticks, I may be going to see Status Quo later on in the year. Last year was the only time I've seen them perform "Pictures of Matchstick Men" live.

I've been listening to a lot of Charlie Parker recently. "Yarbird Suite" especially. I love that melody.

Josh 08-19-2009 01:19 AM

You paint quite a picture.
Uhh, Freezepop?

OddjobAbe 08-19-2009 01:28 AM

Is that what would happen to a gerbil if microwaves were cold?

don't let my negative opinions insult you, just know that Mew are super kawaii progressive funtime.

This thread needs more Deerhunter.

OddjobAbe 08-23-2009 09:09 AM

Talking of deer:

I posted this once before. I cannot recommend this band enough. Very talented people. Kastere will also tell you.

Psychocath 08-24-2009 04:09 PM

Fuck yeah Centhron.

Mac Sirloin 08-27-2009 07:26 AM

Yes. Listen to Estradesphere. It's like being best friends with a Winston Churchill/Bomber Airplane hybrid.

Havoc 08-27-2009 01:22 PM

Can someone help me out track down a particular piece of music? I don't have much to go on and I've depleted Google and Youtube so maybe there is a 1 in a 1000 chance that someone here happens to know what I'm talking about.

It's a piece of music that can best be described, I think, as a soundtrack/background music sort of thing. I really wouldn't know how else to describe it. It's a mostly instrumental track which has some lyrics for effect, mostly whispered behind the music. The most distinct line I remember from it is "I want to love ya, love ya, love ya, love ya" (it echos and fades out).

I thought it was some really cool music so I'm trying to find the track and the artist but I'm not having much luck. If you have a vague idea, no matter how much of a guess, please let me know.

Leto 08-28-2009 12:41 PM

I have scoured every corner of the internet, and thanks to the above lyrics you provided, I have found the track you are looking for:

Hobo 08-31-2009 08:57 AM

<3 Bob Marley. Saw 10 minutes of a Wailers set the other month, SO good.

Josh 09-01-2009 01:43 AM

Bob Marley is awesome.

Mindless Self Indulgence are one of the best bands out there.

Leto 09-01-2009 04:09 AM

music for intadronk

Xavier 09-01-2009 06:03 AM

Awesome band! They absolutely kick ass

Mindless Self Indulgence

No thank you.

And Marley is awesome. I think I have a poster somewhere.

Leto 09-01-2009 08:45 PM

i was going to naysay mindless self indulgence but then i saw he was 13 so you know... he's allowed

Rich 09-02-2009 10:27 AM

and if you make it far enough:

I can't decide if Godspeed are totally amazing or the most pretentious band ever. I suppose they're both.

That's why I wasn't rude to him. Just disagreein' is all.

Even that's a little stupid of me.

Anyway.

I watched The Wall again. I love The Wall. More than Dark Side of the Moon, in fact. I hear that I have the wrong opinion.

Wings of Fire 09-02-2009 06:04 PM

I have a habit of singing In The Flesh at awkward moments, it does wonders for my street cred.

Leto 09-02-2009 07:54 PM

RICH YOU ARE MY FAVOURITE.

godspeed you are both amazing and full of wank (the leader of the troupe efrim is the hugest buttbiscuit you'll ever find).

though little else where postrock is concerned is actually good. for a genre that started on the premise of innovating, it is truly like a stale fart

FUCK YES. I love that song, but you never hear it as often as you do Another Brick in the Wall Part 2. and Comfortably Numb.

Also ARE THERE ANY QUEERS IN THE AUDIENCE TONIGHT?

Hobo 09-03-2009 04:51 PM

AND THAT ONE'S A COON!
