They've updated the site with a strange image. http://www.oddworld.com/soulstorm/

It seems like a piece that would fit between the two left-most ones.

First post: Im getting a vibe of the Slig barracks exterior from this picture, the barbed wire fence the possible bomb, I think i can make out large buildings in the air which are also present there.
Also if I remember right too I dont think there were many blind ones there so it would be possible that this Mudokon (Ed?) would be there.

The Mudokon is a Slave with a Slave-Number on his Breast. Carrying a Missile. The Background looks familiar to me - Necrum. In Exoddus we had a Glukkon as General. Are they tryin to Bomb the Moon away ?!

:

()
Could be that our mystery mud is holding some rags with his number on it and some kind of shovel wrapped inside. New necrum mines worker on his way to have his eyes stitched?

:

()
It's very possible that the Mudokons elsewhere are being lined up for a firing squad in this picture, after what happened in 1029. THAT is dark...

Dang, if any of this ends up being accurate then SoulStorm is going to make New 'n' Tasty look like Sesame Street by comparison 😱

I love it

Agreed, I'll even happily buy a PS4 if it's exclusive.

Gunnr 01-21-2017 07:41 AM

I agree with This: This might be his first day on the job at the mines(post sewing the eyes shut). Those look like mining tools he is carrying.

As for the Numbers on his chest. Numbers are a good way of keeping track of a mud if one is traded or sent to another job. Given that mud's start working when they are children/mudlings. "BB" could have gone from Rupture farms to Nec mines prior to Abe shutting it down, which would explain how Alf knows him when they work in different places.

Of course he could also be on his way to be shot like mentioned above, with his belongings waiting to be claimed by the next worker after his.. termination.

Here are some things I found in the image

Is there writing on 2384-ER? Something that starts with "W". Could be just creases on the paper though.

I think it's "Where ?" The final curl is the same curl as the ? in the "Who?".

:

()
Initially, to me it looked like "BB" was holding a bomb of some kind, but looking at it again, I think i can see the handles of work tools? So it's like he's got his "uniform" or something belonging to his slave number wrapped around his tools, like a pack. There kinda looks like there's a handle too (in the smaller red square)

Thinking the same, some kind of shovel or drill->mining tools?

5574-PH + 9394-AL also look like the neck and shoulders of another Mudokon?

Are they in line or in some courtyard wondering what is happening to them? Waiting to be processed and be thrown into the Necrum mines?

Kalhiki 01-21-2017 07:47 AM

Hey all! New member here. Was intrigued by this ARG game even though I'm terrible at them. But an extra set of eyes never hurt, right?

I wanted to point out because I don't believe anyone mentioned it: I can see a Mud holding a bucket (?) in 5574-PH. It's just a hand, but I can clearly make out a thumb gripping something. Seems like our Mudokon pal isn't alone.

Furthermore, very intrigued by the Alphanumerically message from the photo IDs. Has anyone been looking into that?

Best of luck to everyone!

I'm very bad at ARGs too, but I am very good at having crazy ideas and getting excited.

Have fun!

Huh?! Am i blind? Are my Eyes stitched? I don't see a new One. Can u post it in?

Since everyone Posting what they see, i tried too figuring more out about it. Here is what i see on the Pictures.

9394-AL: There is a Face on it. Look's like a Mudokon to me. Could be Ed or some1 from 1029. He seem to be out of Place. It's right above the Hand from the Slave-Mudo.
2384-ER: I'm sure as Hell, i can see a really big Glukkon Face on it. But it seems to be a Statue. Also under it, there is a Train!
9455-UM: Here is also a part of the Train.
7676-AL: I'm not sure about this Picture. It's hard to see, but i think there is only a Cliff here.
5574-PH: I can see a Mine Waggon on it.
9455-UM: E: Okay, no Rocket. So Working tools?! Woah, so he is a new Slave for work.
7393-AN: I'm sure it's a kind of an fuse/fuze !

If i think about the 1st Picture we have & the Sound Clip we have..we must combine it with this Picture. The Wire behind the Mudokon seem's to be under electricity(the Sound!). In the Letter stands something like "Testing something new" - the Bomb ?! :D But, what doing with it? :fuzconf:

E: So the Mudokon comes with the Train from the Breed-Station(FREE SAM!) to work for the Glukkons. So the Lore hasn't changed much, huh? Even the Background looks like the Dust, where Abe and his Plas walked to come into the Factory. But are they still diggin' Bones?

I'm pretty sure that every time I visited the site before, the picture shown behind the lock was 1029-LY.

Am I wrong? If so, apologies.

emmarose 01-21-2017 08:46 AM

It's probably not very helpful, but I've connected part of the picture using some of the easiest outlines to identify around the Mudokon. I was hoping to get a better idea of what he's carrying since they've hinted that we should try to identify it, but I'm still not sure what to make of it.

The lights, rocky outcrops, back-lighting and fencing give a Necrum Mines feel, so perhaps he is carrying bones? Although there is indication of reflective surface toward the pointy end, so I'm also on board with the mining equipment idea :).

The "peeping Mudokon" face is odd, it appears to be behind the fence but the right side of his face shows through the the fence post??

Hoping I've managed to attach the picture properly!

Very nice work! Also I like the idea of him possibly carrying bones but is it just me or does it look a little too big to Mud bones?

Good sketch!! Maybe the hidden mud id ED and the main mud is just another slave called BB?

Maybe its like an explosive mining charge of some kind? I think archaeologists use something like it, like from the beginning of one of the Jurassic Park movies... great drawing, too!!!

This is actually a pretty interesting take on things. I never really considered the possibility that Ed's name was actually derived from his ID as 'Mudokon E-D'. And that would fit nicely with the code on the other Mudokon's chest (Mudokon B-B).

It could be ED spying but he does seem to be going through the fence a bit. Could this be one of the mudokon spirits/weirdos?
Abe can become invisable but I'm positive it's not Abe.

I've seen a couple of comments saying that the location of the picture could be the Stockyards of Rupture Farms. Now, although the majority of Rupture Farms was destroyed at the end of Oddysee/New 'n' Tasty, there was one location which might have survived. I am referring of course, to the mysterious 'Zulag 5'. In a secret area of the Stockyards in N'n'T, a train tunnel can be found which leads to Zulag 5. However, we never get to visit the Zulag, and therefore never free the Mudokons that worked there. Perhaps this Mudokon has some affiliation to the illusive Zulag? Just a little theory I had.

I personally think the peeping face is just 2 bolts on the fence that do admittedly look like eyes. Guess we'll find out when we see the cleaned up image though :D

Manco 01-21-2017 10:06 AM

Yeah, it’s gotta be a fence bolt.

That's what I mean by "The Muds you didn't rescue are getting firing squad-ed"

Yeah, I see how the Glukkons could be trying to deter further rebellion by punishing surviving Mudokons of the Rupture Farms incident.

Nope, Nope, Nope. Don't say that!

What if the cleaned up Pic turns all theories into dust? :<

This thread is moving to quickly, info and ideas are getting lost:fuzgrin:

Phoetux 01-21-2017 10:36 AM

We're fast as lightning! Be patient, perhaps the theories couldnt be true at the end, but they could also be for real. Don't be optimistic or pessimistic

HOMINIX 01-21-2017 10:39 AM

Pshh, I thought OWI were gonna clean up our image, and now they're having us squint at a crumpled up low quality like we'll know the answers. Buncha chumps

Manco 01-21-2017 10:42 AM

The essence of a good ARG is to have people on the hunt confused as hell as often as possible.
