Does anyone other than OJA even listen to the crap I post? |

> talks shit about indie music > put indie music anyway > badass So, I've found an old band I like: |
They all appear to be in various states of constipation.

You also don't greentext shit you don't put a > before.
This is important information. |
It's fine...

Just a question, does anyone do any composing, or songwriting etc? As an avid band geek, I have made a couple of songs before, mostly for my internal exams. Just wondering about anyone else doing that sort of thing.
|
Actually, yes. I hardly ever have any inspiration, though, so my ideas peter out because I force them too much.
Lately there's been a thing with a girl and this happened. It's called Gently (A letter). It's not finished. There's a third section, but it's not very good yet. The second section will also end differently to that, but I tacked this on so that I could show you. Any feedback would be really nice because I'm struggling to go anywhere with it. It's also stupidly big as I exported it straight out from Sibelius. e: Oh, this is a piano solo by the way. Don't expect anything that sounds too modern. Although it falls under the scope of modern classical. |

You're blatantly just trying to get someone to find your blog for you.

Then we can all read DI dissing you and imagine just how bad you sounded.
|
Yup. We sure can.

Ontopic: My favourite Portuguese band at the moment. |

Harmonically, I hear a lot of suspensions (and maybe extended harmony - I haven't analysed the piece, so I don't know straight off), some of which are successful, some of which feel slightly forced, but in most of the latter instances, if you try and rearrange the chord, this should be rectified (you have probably noticed that dissonances sound less jarring the greater the interval is). Also, there was one instance where (I think in the left hand) I heard one chord in the same position twice. I can't find it now, but I heard it. If you don't alter the chord, at least alter the voicing. It sounds like you're doing alright, man. Keep on with your stuff. |

Thanks. I agree with pretty much everything you said there. Some of the cords are forced, especially towards the end. I'm looking at ways to make it more rhythmically interesting, too. I really want to hear how it sounds when it's not being played by Sibelius, though. The playback resembles an elephant. |
Amazing production and music videos thanks to Killer Mike and El-P! |
:
I use Finale, which has quite a nice piano sound, but it's drowned in reverb, and if you take it away, it sounds as synthesised as any other piano "sample". Of course, if I want to hear something I'm capable of playing, I use an actual piano, but I am humbled by about every other pianist who ever lived, so harder classical and jazz pieces tend to be out of the question. |
Apart from the extravagant publicity, it has some good riffs.

Despite the picture in the video, this is actually a very beautiful song.

You can still click it to go the video on Youtube.

Fuck yeah, I can't stop listening to this album. El-P's amazing beats and Killer Mike's rhymes compliment eachother so well. |
Probably my favourite song made up of instruments I can actually play.
|
|
This song's been in my head all day, repeating over and over. |
From Cancer 4 Cure, El-P's...what I like to think as a sister album to R.A.P. Music. Once again, amazing beat and great rapping (and a weird ass music video) |
:
Also, here's the metal version of the song I last posted on this thread. IMO, I prefer the acoustic version. |
If we don't care enough to click it if we like it, why would we care enough to have the artist and song name spelled out to us condenscendingly?

You misunderstood my post. You are absolutely hopeless.

@Laser
I really need that album, apparently it's as good as or better than R.A.P. Loved the Full Retard, too. Did you hear El-P on the newest Das Racist? He slays the beat on this one. @Spooceahlolic STOP FUCKING POSTING A DAY TO REMEMBER IN HERE THEY'RE TERRIBLE YOU COULD AT LEAST POST A DIFFERENT BAND PREFERABLY ONE WITH LESS SUCK |
It's weird, Strangeland has two polar opposite songs right next to each other.
First you've got On The Road, which I guarantee will be a crowd pleaser at Keane's next festival circuit... Golden li~ight lies ahead It's just around the bend So when the sun is coming up and you go~o And there's still so many things you don't kno~ow Don't you look back I've no doubt that I will meet you on the road So when the world's laying you lo~ow Why don't you let me carry your lo~oad When things get bad you know you'll have a friend All along the road... Then you've got The Starting Line (even the title makes these two seem the wrong way around), which is full of the downtrodden emotional wank that Keane haters hate but I like. You can't find your bearings You're slipping into the ground The scene has no colour and no sound The ground is uneven You stumble from day to day You tread where it's easy And your feet are like lead But you've got to get on the way So drag your head up to the starting line Forget the ghosts that make you old before your time It's too easy to get left behind... It's a good album. Interesting. |
