WHAT! Your kidding me! How on earth am I supposed to know that was there!? I could see the mudokon in the shadow because I can see his hands moving but how did you know there was a lever in the shadow?

Yeah, that was a pain in the ass, first time round it took me about half an hour and in the end i just left them, then I thought i'd go back and look around, and there it was!

And Skychase2rebirth, your Paramonia is great! I died in the 3rd screen but I didn't care because I was in love with the cam edits! Damn hard levels you've got but they're so fulfilling to play! Keep them coming

As soon as my computer decides to let me download Paul's i'll posting my levels straight on here guys so be prepared to give me some info ;)

skychase2rebirth 04-28-2011 04:46 PM

Nope, I actually discovered the lever through chance

EDIT: skychase2rebirth IMO you should've placed the lever in a more visible location.

Fixing it right now. Working on Paramonian Nests.

You are very good at making these levels! Too bad I'm not very good at AO anymore :fuzsad:.

JennyGenesis 04-29-2011 08:38 AM

Then I DARE! you to try my latest Stockyards variation Oddman ;)

Jango 04-29-2011 08:52 AM

Guys, I'm sorry that I haven't been on much recently, as I've been extremely busy with my GCSE's (and will continue to be busy :() and unfortunately I haven't had the time to play many of these brilliant looking variations, or make any of my own.

Also, do make sure you include the necessary information, stated at the start of the thread, in your level post! (Sorry to be a pain, it just makes people's lives easier!) :) Thank you.

Keep up the good work everyone! This thread has really come far since I posted my first variation. :)
Thank you to everyone who is contributing their awesome levels to this thread - by the look of things we have people who know how to make fantastic levels, and I can't wait to play them all and make some of my own, once I have some spare time.

JennyGenesis 04-29-2011 09:20 AM

I think we need to rebel against you. To make a level more stupidly hard than the one's you have made :p

Haha. :p I'd like to see someone try to do a better RuptureFarms II level than me. :)

Talking of which, has anyone actually completed my RuptureFarms II variation fully, and saved all of the Mudokons on it?

I did it with 1 finger and a blindfold. There was a lot of practice involved though.

The challenge is on now. I'll see how far I can get before I screw up over 9000 times and then smash my keyboard in furiosity then panic about it.

Not that it's a problem...

Phylum 04-29-2011 10:02 PM

Jango, might I suggest that you edit the first post to include the variations? That will make the thread even more user friendly.

Good idea. If you want them here they are.
I hope it's what you wanted it took quite a while.

Thanks very much for doing that OddMan360. :)

The problem is, it won't allow me to edit the first post of my thread for some reason, along with all of my posts in the first few pages. I've messaged Nate about it, so hopefully I can include all of those links at the start of the thread. :) Again, thanks.

It just the fact that every time someone adds a new level variant, it's going to have to be updated. There's been quite a few new levels lately so it might be a bit annoying. Nice to have it there I suppose though.

JennyGenesis 04-30-2011 05:25 AM

Oddman, that list is fantastic! However I just want to correct you by saying that my Stockyard return variation was actually the entire level not just the first path. I also think it would be best if you grouped the links based on their publisher. So have a big bold title saying "JennyGenesis" then list the download links for the levels. Of course as well you might have noticed my new signature. Makes life easier :)

Thanks for the suggestion! I've now grouped them by publisher in order of when they posted their first level.
Also, I've fixed your Stockyard variation info.
Any problems noticed, could people please say. It makes it much nicer...

JennyGenesis 04-30-2011 05:54 AM

Yeah must point something out again. SORRY! lol! but all of my variation's are whole level edits apart from Scrabanian Temple and Paramonia but they were canceled variations and I just wanted to show people what work I had achieved. Of course do not forget to put my new Stockyard's (Escape) variation on the list.

Just gone back now and fixed it all. Can't believe I missed the latest stockyard variation of yours on there. Oh well. All done now.

JennyGenesis 04-30-2011 10:48 AM

YAY! Nice to see it's on there. In my opinion it's the most difficult level I have created. Even I had a lot of trouble beating it during the final play test even though I knew exactly what dangers were where. How far have you gotten Oddman?

Not very far. I thought it would be easier.

JennyGenesis 04-30-2011 10:57 AM

I assume that so far you have gotten to checkpoint in the screen with the "Chant Here" sign.

It's not funny!!! It's because I haven't played AO or AE in such a long time that I'm not used to it.

JennyGenesis 04-30-2011 11:23 AM

Then remove the Scrab :P and yes it is rather funny when you are in my position.

That feels too cheaty in my opinion. It won't make me suck at the game less either.

Meh, do what i did keep doing it again and again again and again again and again again and again again and again again and again!Until you finally rage and go hack with Its_me_your_father past that screen THEN continue as per usual.

I think if anyone was to keep doing something as much asyou said I'm pretty sure they'd get pretty annoyed if they weren't progressing.

Yeah, I'm by the end of it my keyboard was missing a few buttons, and that's why i enabled its_me_your_father.Lol also nice work on the level variation board.

The thing is what happens if I lose my shift and tab key?! I have no cheats!

Also...
Thanks. Hopefully the list will help people find levels easier.

JennyGenesis 05-01-2011 05:49 AM

I honestly would have believed that people could easily get past that Scrab by now. I perfected that screen on the 2nd attempt. Had anybody actually made it to the screen after the Scrab yet? it's a real evil one :)

I tried again today and forgot how I got past that mine after you sneak past the slig! I tried possessing the slig on the next screen by using the secret door but he just blows himself up on the UXB! :fuzconf: I bet the solutions real obvious as well.

Here's the screen it's on...
http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1304255025
The mine behind the thingy. As soon as you hoist up there you blow up.

Also, what's with the dodgy floor in the background where the first secret usually is. I just fell through the floor for no reason!

BTW: How did you get the glowing red lights?

JennyGenesis 05-01-2011 06:37 AM

WOAH! Slow down Sammy! A lot of question's there!

Yes the floor to the first secret is missing. Completly my fault as I accadently messed with the wrong colission paths sorry.

The idea is to go into the door on the screen you posted and start chanting immediately. On my play tests if you chant immediately the Slig will not run into the UXB. The idea is to possess him and then run him into the mine.

The red lights are easy. Just place a light effect and set it to Flint Door.

Thanks for the help. I'll try that in a min.
I was wondering what flint door was... I'll try that too.

I started on a new variation on RuptureFarms I. I added a bunch of stuff in to try and make it harder than yours! So far it's going quite good. When I've finished I post it on the Level list...

Chubfish 05-01-2011 07:01 AM

Just remember that my variant is hugely unfinished, even now. I'm working on something else however...

Will be really hard like before? I like challenging levels, they more fun because they take a while to complete.

EDIT:
JennyGenesis please say this is the last screen!
http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1304266340
You have no idea how many deaths it took for me to get there.
The scrab was really annoying. Are you supposed to kill the scrab because I did that and it was much easier.
Also the two patrolling sligs and slog took the most tries. I knew what to do but every time the slig shot me. The slog was easy though but the sligs are the worst.
I had fun with it though, especially disarming all those UXBs after the scrab.

Jango 05-01-2011 09:52 AM

Hmm...I'm thinking of setting up a second thread that is exclusively for posting finished variations onto. Not for dicussing and trialling, which this thread seems to be more about.

What do you guys think? It would be an easier way to group together all of the finished levels without having to keep updating a single post, then eventually not being able to edit it anyway.

The thread would be for uploading finished variations, and nothing else. Would it be a good idea? :)

So this one could just be talking about the levels and the new one is for all the new levels people create to go on to? Seems like a good idea. That way you can include the list of levels on the first post and it would be easier to find them and add them rather than scanning through this.

If you want I could make convert the list onto there since you're having editing problems...

Yeah, this thread will be for posting trials/demos/unfinished variations and discussing them. The other one will be for variations that are finished and don't need anymore verifying or discussion. The feedback can then be posted onto this thread, or through personal message. I'll go and set up the thread now. :)

The thing is people have already posted their levels in here, and first time people mind read the thread title and first post and continue posting levels so...
When should we expect the thread to be up?
and...
Will you be able to change the thread title and/or edit the first post to link to the new thread?

Jango 05-01-2011 11:28 AM

It'll be up very soon (like 10 minutes). Unfortunately you cannot edit a post after a certain amount of time, so people will have to post their level onto the new thread themselves.
I have made a very strict and clear set of rules to make sure the new thread doesn't get bogged down, like this one has done.
