If I told you, I'd have to kill you.

You're getting married?

ziggy 10-30-2010 01:41 PM

I'm sorry for sounding like an asshole, but for God's sake, why do so many of you have such shitty taste in music? The only people who I can agree on musical terms with here are Leto, OANST, Mr. Bungle, and Oddjob Abe. For real.

You can't define what's good music or not, everyone has their own opinions of good music.

You just have to live with it.

This post made me feel good. :)

I disagree. I have enjoyed quite a lot of pieces that I know are really bad pieces. I think that there's a line between silly enjoyable pieces and enjoyable pieces that are genuinely well-composed. I used to (and forgive me for this) enjoy some of Rolf Harris' pieces quite a lot, but I also loved Stravinsky and Schoenberg, and I would certainly not rank Harris in the same league as Stravinsky, even though I enjoyed some of his music to the same extent (but for entirely different reasons).

I agree with OddjobAbe on this one. I used to think the same way that you do, but not anymore.

Leto 10-30-2010 05:59 PM

Yadda yadda there cannot be any good or bad music it's all opinion, 90% of you just happen to listen to the shittiest entry level superficial crap that I have bitched and moaned about for far too long.

Wings of Fire 10-30-2010 07:47 PM

I have never met a musical elitist who was not a major prick.

ziggy 10-30-2010 08:30 PM

Hating some bands doesn't mean you're not a nice person. ?

Leto 10-31-2010 01:46 AM

You've never met me WoF :D

I'm quite nice IRL, but for some reason I'm a huge diddle on the interwebs, particularly on OWF.

Fags.

the usual 'cut your dick off' sad steez i like. birdy numnums.

Dynamithix 10-31-2010 01:47 AM

Okay, cut out the first part of my post, but I still stand by this sentence:

:

Everyone has their own opinions of good music.

You can't go around telling everyone, that the music they listen to is crap, just because you don't like the artist or whatsoever. That's just being closeminded.

Like I said earlier, there is a definite difference between well-composed and badly-composed pieces. You don't have to dislike a piece to think it's a badly-composed piece. I hear a lot of people telling me about films they enjoyed, but knew they were actually shit films. If you ask me, it's the same thing with music (or any art form for that matter). It's because of this I believe that a person has every right to give their opinion on a piece of music, especially in a a discussion that pertains to the subject of music recommendation.

Phylum 10-31-2010 02:06 AM

No. We can, however, listen to the music then tell you it's crap.

EDIT: Speedy shit, Oddjob.

In my experience it's pretty well correlated with being a shallow pretentious douche.

ziggy 10-31-2010 11:40 AM

Well there are a lot of the so called hipsters. But I don't much like them; whether it be the scene kids, indie kids, metal kids, whatever. I try not to fit myself into any demographic like that, and am a really nice guy in real life. (Like Leto said) I try to get a long with people with different musical tastes even though I might not particularly like it, but some shit posted on here is just awful to me. Hipster used to be a title for a respectable person who was involved and knowledgeable in film, music, art and media. Now the word hipster is used more to define a poser, who pretends to like something so they can fit in the in crowd. I'm not shallow if that's what you're implying, and I really have a lot of confidence issues to be honest.

EDIT: and @ Phylum: what's the bass flute like? Does it play similar to a regular flute? I watched a video and it sounds really nice.

We could say the same about your very vocal dislike of Satanism. And music is much more important to our cultural identities than Satanism is.

Wings of Fire 11-01-2010 07:41 AM

I have met musical elitists who aren't shallow pretentious douches (Example: you), I have never met a satanist who isn't a shallow pretentious douche.

Like Ziggy said, being a musical elitist just seems to be some sort of stupid trend for most people. They'll grow out of it after college when obligations tie them down and they can't smoke pot regularly.

OANST 11-01-2010 08:01 AM

I only take umbrage with being called shallow. The rest of it I can live with.

Wings of Fire 11-01-2010 08:03 AM

You're definitely a major prick.

Mr. Bungle 11-01-2010 11:32 AM

OANST 11-01-2010 11:34 AM

That was such a great album.

Mr. Bungle 11-01-2010 11:47 AM

It still is, is it not?

OANST 11-01-2010 11:49 AM

Shut up, bitch.

I could never get into Mars Volta or Sparta in the same way that I did At The Drive In.

ziggy 11-01-2010 12:02 PM

I remember reading something about the Mars Volta on the internet in a list of the top 10 unintentionally funny albums of 2008 or whatever year. The article described them as the musical equivalent of the smart ass know-it-all kid in class who won't shut up.

Mr. Bungle 11-01-2010 12:05 PM

That sounds about right. I don't like Volta either, but Relationship of Command is great.

This shit is music to destroy everything to:

Disturbing video, but a great song.

OANST 11-02-2010 07:06 AM

Heh. He said "great song" while talking about Korn. He's stupid.

Dynamithix 11-02-2010 07:16 AM

I like it.

:(

scrabface 11-02-2010 07:52 AM

I am working on a short film and trying to create a simple ambient track. so here's a clip. what do you think? like I said it's simple and I am no musician, I only try to catch a melancholic dark mood. image is similar to the background of the film.

I don't know, I really like KoRn.

OANST 11-02-2010 09:43 AM

I'm sorry.

Hazel-Rah 11-02-2010 11:38 AM

Did Korn ever do any cover music? For some reason I think I remember liking a cover song they did once, but I might be thinking of Limp Bizkit

OANST 11-02-2010 11:56 AM

What was the question again? I couldn't hear you over the sound of me slitting my wrists.

Hazel-Rah 11-02-2010 12:08 PM

Nah, I agree they both suck. But it was Limp Bizkit who did that cover of Behind Blue Eyes by Th Who that I liked btw, I might have to Avast Ye Matey! it.

Mr. Bungle 11-02-2010 12:13 PM

Korn did a cover of that Word Up! song. I don't know who did it originally, but I know they covered it.

I feel dirty for knowing that.

OANST 11-02-2010 12:16 PM

De-na De-na-ne-ne-ne-ne-ne-ah De-na De-na-ne-ne-ne-ne-ne-ah

Ra-cha-cha-cha GO!

Pew Pew Pew-pew

I wrote a Korn song.

They did do a cover of Behind Blue Eyes, it's dreadful.
