What difference does that make? You still once were a child, and you're still way too young to be driving something like a convertible. I used to know a girl from Illinois who got her full license as well as a car at 14. It's rediculous. This is what seems to be the norm, and parents even make it worse by buying their kids flashy cars, usually old American muscle cars like thunderbirds and such. You mentioned that you got a convertible, and that doesn't suprise me.

This is exactly the thing that's worrying, and makes me glad that I don't have to walk or drive down American streets.

Once again the bash america thing. Sorry bub but I paid for the car buying the convertable which for your information is 12 years old from my grandparents for 1500 dollars money I have earned through working. My mom took half the cost, and we share the car. I have to pay for the insurance myself as well. I also am not a rich spoiled kid my dad was out of work for a whole year because his company outsourced, and now has to do consulting work to maintain payments for the house and living expenses because this area especially in Illinois has such high taxes.

Were now putting my next brother through college starting this next year, and I have to get a new job to start saving even more money on my own to help my parents out. I'm now 17 and I was 16 when I get my license (the legal age to get a license not 14) and I have been a careful alert and cautious driver. Sure is it nice freedom of course, but I'm not ignorant or interested simply in muscle cars or wow lets race hehe! no. I use the car for transportation whether to run errands or drive to pick up friends or family, etc., or now for work. Sure a little drive as long as I keep myself alert is nice, or is a convertable nice in the summer, but it came for certain reasons the fact that my grandparents never used it too much and kept it in such nice condition and we needed a second car because our old one was breaking down and my mom needed a car for work and she decided since I got my license and was willing to get a job to share it with me. Not some cliche teenage rich pretty boy taking a joyride. Dont make assumptions when you dont know the story of my life is all Im saying. Just know that theres a lot of us out here who dont fall under your normal view point...

Rich 06-18-2005 02:41 AM

Since we let people drive cars at 17 and mopeds/bikes at 16 over here, I don't know what Dino is going on about. Since when can 14 year olds drive anywhere? Except India and Africa.

Shit man, Al your life seems tough. Makes me realise how much I take my life for granted.

Shit man, Al your life seems tough. Makes me realise how much I take my life for granted.

Nah don't say that man, I'm just like anyone else there are circumstances in which we attain things. Life has been good to me, my parents have worked very hard all their lives so that my brothers and I could live only ways they could have dreamed of. I'm what you consider middle class here, but I don't complain about it middle class isnt bad at all. I just know there are a lot people have it worse than me and I was trying to explain to dino that I'm not one of the super rich or rich pretty boys smashing cars driving reckless and being stupid. I'm from a nice middle class family that has in the past three years after the economy started to get screwed up due to the idiot running the country...and we have had to endure some rough times after my dad who used to have a very good job lost it do to the Internet Technology department he was in charge of being outsourced and his position being terminated.

After a large gap of time without him working we cut costs where we could and mainly stayed to getting necessities and not using money to "burn", but luckily for over a year now my dad has had work again and we are now maintaining a balance and have enough to keep everything we have, and make sure to pay off anything that before he lost his job that could cause us trouble if it happened again. That's the reason I'm having a job right now, mind you its not full time, but my parents have to pay for the bills and such like anyone else, and I just want to chip in so I dont have to ask for money to save for something or have in case if I wanna go out to the movies or go buy something or have for gifts for people etc, go out with friends, etc. So that my parents don't have to give me the money and I Can rely more on myself too is the bottom line.

I've already gone way too far off topic, but I thought I'd clarify that there is a lot more people worse off than my family and I in this country. I just wanted to state the facts that we arent like the rich rich people that I know of that Dino mentioned. That is the definate end of my story here. So please just know I'm not trying to be a martyr but was just trying to explain what I am and what I'm not.

That's shit. You can't get your license at 14.

Dino the activist stereotyping? What the hell happened there?

Anyway, I dyed my hair with red streaks. Here it is:

Your hair looks like my friend Jeremiah's.

...Except, you know...less gay.

AquaticAmbi 06-20-2005 08:57 AM

Eeh! More makeup art from DI! I insist that you create a thread in NOA&L forum for displaying more. The doctor(?) looks sort of familiar--like I've seen him in a movie or something.

Speaking of movies, your hair is SO Edward Scissorhands. I likey.

And Kimon, your hair is pretty cool. Red was a good choice for you. Is it permanent?

EDIT: You stupid heads (Sorry, I've recently watched Lilo and Stitch :p) that are arguing about the license age crap, there is such a thing called a hardship license which is for families suffering for one reason or another and need the child to drive. The miminal age requirement of 14.

TheRaisin 06-20-2005 10:57 AM

Hmm. Kimon, it looks like you gored someone on your hair spikes and used their blood to style your hair. Or Hawaiian Punch. Nice work.

Props to your work as usual, DI. Makes me feel like... buying Resident Evil... or Silent Hill. Or eating people's brains. Or something.

Indeedily do. And thanks. :)

Really? I have never heard of that. Are you sure it's not just a thing in your part of the country?

:

Nice work.

Out of the two options, I'd say it was #1.

EDIT: I missed the makeup pics. Sweet job, DI.

AquaticAmbi 06-20-2005 09:16 PM

Ages (and laws) vary from state to state regarding all types of driver's license matters. My point is that although it is rare, such a thing exists. In my whole life, I've only known one person to own a hardship license.

Now that I've looked some stuff up, here: Driving Ages from State to State
Look, the age of 14 isn't all that rare after all for a beginner. Now quiet, all of you about anything other than pictures.

That eye makeup makes you look like a 1970's punk. :D

You're quite a pretty girl actually...mmm...you might have to get yourself ready with some kind of shovel or crowbar, cause all the boys here are gunna go for you. :p

Translation?

"That eye makeup makes your eyes look reeeely big, I would not enjoy the extra vision it would afford me."

Yeah, it still doesn't make much sense...

Alpha has a habit of not making sense (mostly because he is in fact stupid), but I do feel that your translation may be faulty.

I have a feeling that he's actually talking about hunting for girls, rather than anything about the eye makeup. But your subtitle was funny anywho.

TheRaisin 07-01-2005 12:02 AM

Hmmm makes her look like a stereotype ancient Egyptian, I'd say. A very attractive one. ;) With cool wall hangings.

Looking good Xav, but where'd the beard go?

Xavier 07-01-2005 02:46 AM

shaved ;)

but now it's coming back, since I didn't have a shave during my studying period (4weeks) and stay at home studying like an ermit.

I'll probably shave it again, but I'll try to take some pictures first.

That didn't show you - you were basically hiding.

Following you right up there, man. I've been growing hair for 2.5 years or so (it just reaches the shoulders)
My mother and sister protest against it, but my friends and I dig it.

I haven't got my camera yet, cuz my sister Stole it for a school project (she said) and never gave it back.
So no picture...

I could see your hat, and the bottom part of your face - then you open your mouth to show your teeth, and there's this snarling sound. It's stupid, you're just trying to create this aesthetic aura of mystery but it isn't working, it's just a load of faffing around and being a twat. If you're going to post a photo of you, then POST IT or DON'T POST IT. There is no middle ground where you can post a photo or video clip in which we can barely make out anything at all.

a flock of seagulls 07-01-2005 02:22 PM

It doesn't say it has to be a photo showing yourself clear as day

It says "What do you look like?" - we can't exactly see what you look like if you're in a darkened room covering the majority of your face with a hat. Fucking hell.

AquaticAmbi 07-01-2005 07:57 PM

No. You've been asked to stop posting pictures and crap like that. Stop it.

Anyway, I have a fun, piratey picture to post as soon as I upload it from my digital camera.

soulstice 07-02-2005 06:42 AM

I agree with Dino. That was ****ing stupid. Nuff said ;).

AquaticAmbi 07-02-2005 09:03 AM

Oh, I forgot to mention how cool and spooky your picture was, Xavier. And how your sister looks like the gothic-version of a girl at my school. :fuzblink:
