I remember that one of the Story Stones specifically names ‘superstitious Slig guards’ as the ones who made the spirit traps – what do we know about Slig spirituality? Do they practice the same beliefs Glukkons do, or do they have their own ideas?
|
The spirit trap (like the chant suppressor) could be (mostly) a game mechanic.

I don't know if I'm imagining this, but around the time Stewart Gilray and co. were plugging N'n'T, was there an interview where the host referred to the game as "Something Nice and Tasty" ? I vaguely remember it being at E3 or another gaming conference and I thought it was hilarious. I can't find any trace of it online though.

Thank you so much Vlam. I had no idea how gratifying it would be to hear that fuck up again.
"Abe's Oddworld Oddysee Something Nice and Tasty" They should have called it that anyway. Another highlight is as soon as Lorne begins to talk, they put up the banner saying "Stewart Gilray" |
Unlocking this thread.

Yay thank you Nate <3
So, actually ive forgotten what I wanted to ask originally, however I was also wondering: am I right to say the Quintology has fallen by the wayside now? |
Yes, and I think OWI's not focusing on it anymore.
|
Well that's shitty.
|
I don't think it's been dropped for good, though. I don't know what OWI's plans are post-Soulstorm but I'd wager we'll see a new Oddysee title one of these days.

It really depends on what you mean by “the Quintology”. If you mean “a series of 5 games planned by OWI”, then yes, it’s gone. But if you mean “a narrative about Oddworld told over a series of games”, then it’s not gone; just that the number of games and the details of the story told may have changed.
|
It's probably for the best they're not sticking to a made up word from decades ago. They sort of have freedom to run in any direction now, which is great. We'll still (hopefully) get 5 great OWI games, and maybe even more.
|
I just want to see the other two\three (tho pretty positive Stranger counts so 2? ) underdog heroes of the "quintology" what with the supposed 5 moons and all. If they can be intoduced over more than just two or 3 more games then that's great! More room to expand on the lore maybe new game mechanics and just more owi games. That doesn't sound too bad if you ask me. Now if they are still going that direction is what I think that question is concerning
|
Nah, Stranger wasn't part of the original Quintology. Squeek was supposed to be the third hero.

Cue Squeak's Oddysee and 495 Farmville clones. :D
Thanks for clarifying Alex, that's grand! It's pretty awesome to see someone from OWI on here! |
Farmville clones? Oh, you mean Hand of Odd?
