Yeah, but Wil did say that they were the same species...

Did I?

MeechCrunchies 11-16-2013 11:06 AM

Is anyone else really liking the art style? I mean seriously, dunno how but you've managed to not only keeping the charmingly dark art style of the original but make it crisp and bold and just fucking delicious to look at X_X

El Dango AGAIN 11-16-2013 04:15 PM

Someone seems to agree

I was born on the 15th of Spring.

You know that technically would work with the months still in place right? Since each season starts on a fixed date.

:

In the novel I'm working on, the dating system relies on seasons. THERE ARE NO MONTHS. I'm a madman.
This however... how do you know when one season starts and ends?

They're Bolamites.

Assuming 'Bolamite' is a species name and not a general term like 'spider', you therefore confirmed that the arachnids in SW and in NnT are the same species.

MA 11-16-2013 07:35 PM

the Bolamites aren't Bolamitey enough.

Bullet Magnet 11-17-2013 12:52 AM

The same yellow bolamites were in Stranger. Briefly. These are the ones who got wise and quickly decided not to be hurled at any more outlaws, substituting their bluer, dumber cousins for the job.

Jbot123 11-17-2013 01:53 AM

I really like those Scrabs. Also the sawblade logo is nice in the context of this game.

Are we really doing this? It's a spider.. On the other hand I hope scrabs and paramites sound original..

Pretty sure that's the assumption OANST was pointing out.

This however... how do you know when one season starts and ends?

Each season is 100 days long with a fifth season which corrects when it all goes out of date.

It'd be great if those sandy coloured bolamites were native to Scrabania whilst the darker ones were found in the more forested areas around the Mongo River, it'd make evolutionary sense and show some diversity in the game fauna that a lot of franchises wouldn't bother with.

oh but it's so much more

El Dango AGAIN 11-17-2013 05:49 AM

Actually, it's two legs less.

Wil 11-17-2013 06:38 AM

Count again.

Each season is 100 days long with a fifth season which corrects when it all goes out of date.

91 days with a fifth correctional season or a season with one extra day (probably winter or summer) except on a leap year would be more accurate. COME ON MAN

STM 11-17-2013 07:18 AM

You're assuming it's set:

a.) On Earth
b.) On Earth in the current day

Slog Bait 11-17-2013 07:24 AM

Yes I am.

Count again.

I counted again, turned out to be wrong. Didn't notice the small ones.

Bullet Magnet 11-17-2013 09:25 AM

It seems clear to me that these versions are in it because 1: they have more character, and 2: the FMV quality model already existed. even though they put so much work into upgrading the gameplay version.

I counted again, turned out to be wrong. Didn't notice the small ones.

The correct answer is four less legs. Or two pairs less. Those small ones are appendages called "pedipalps" which are like a hybrid of mandible and leg. In real spiders you can use those to identify the males, because they are swollen and bulbous at the end. Because in the males they are like hybrid mandible, leg, and testicle.

MeechMunchie 11-17-2013 09:34 AM

It's not venom that was injected into Spider-man.

Pretty sure that's the assumption OANST was pointing out.

Yes, he was trying to point out that OWF members were making an assumption. I was trying to point out that they weren't making any assumptions given that you had already confirmed it as fact.

I said they were both Bolamites. You're still making the assumption all Bolamites are the same species.

That was what I was suggesting/asking in my followup post. You're yet to clarify that detail.

Or do I have to send an email to Alf?

Wil 11-18-2013 05:20 PM

If you're tempted to contact Alf to get a clearer answer, then... then I'm not sure if that's an insult or compliment.

A little from column A and a little from column B. And because its Oddworld, a little from column C

Aren't you the one doing all the Alf stuff on the site?

Wil 11-19-2013 03:04 AM

No. I know who Alf is, but as ever, I'm not telling.

No, Alf writes Alf's column. Why won't anyone listen to me?

No.

How come you were logged in to Alf's Twitter account? Or is Alf really lots of people?
