Why would you even play on Peaceful? Half the game's fun is the sense of dread that comes from exploring in the dark.

I normally have it on peaceful when I'm watching 'net TV in the background and have the sound turned off so therefore can't hear enemies - But normally only when doing mundane tasks such as constructing lava moats and farming lava from the nether. :) Otherwise having it on normal or hard makes the game a lot more interesting and fun.

Peaceful really is like cheating, although I will admit that I sometimes exploit the health regeneration that peaceful mode gives you when low on health and stuck at the bottom of a deep cave with no restorative items. Otherwise I die, lose all my stuff that took me hours to farm, and that's frustrating and not fun at all. Then I stick it back on normal/hard again to keep it interesting.

... I still sometimes fall into lava and lose my stuff anyway though. :P

Ridg3 04-19-2011 02:44 PM

Done. Achievements. Well nearly, just the catch fish, travel 1k, bake cake to do.

enchilado 04-19-2011 02:51 PM

Don't bother about the cake, it's a lie.

Dynamithix 04-19-2011 08:55 PM

Hulaabeo 04-20-2011 02:37 AM

Has anyone seen the new saplings? You can burn em too!

Manco 04-20-2011 06:39 AM

Found this on another forum: apparently Creepers can also be struck by lightning.

Good God.

dripik 04-20-2011 07:02 AM

That's quite ghastly on the one hand, and a foreboding idea on the other: imagine a blast of electricity, with you being in steel armor.

MeechMunchie 04-20-2011 07:48 AM

Minecraft has a demo now.

Phylum 04-20-2011 08:30 PM

I've been wanting this game to play in small bursts without it eating my life.

The demo is downloading as I type this.

Why can't you play in small bursts with the full version?

Phylum 04-20-2011 08:43 PM

While I probably could, I'm prioritising my schoolwork for now.

I'll probably buy the full version over Christmas.

DarkHoodness 04-21-2011 05:53 PM

Interesting minecart intersection - Seems there's a lot you can do with the new powered tracks:

Creeper fun:

DarkHoodness 04-24-2011 06:25 PM

Wow, I love to double-post. Legally. :P

I'm loving these new weather effects, I saw rain in Minecraft for the first time today:

http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1303697884

http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1303697884

I also found one of these:
http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1303697884

I was looking up how to use note blocks on YouTube, but I didn't expect to find stuff like this:

And is it me or are mobs far more numerous and aggressive now?

EDIT: Something not worth a triple-post for, a screenshot from my testing map. I cheated to get the wool for this so there wasn't much effort involved: http://www.oddworldforums.net/images...icon10_odd.gif

http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1303749392http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1303751848

If the multiplayer server ever comes back, maybe I can recreate it there if you'd like.

DarkHoodness 04-27-2011 12:43 AM

*triple post!* What, does nobody play this anymore?

I built a better transit system - And it's a simple enough design, feel free to replicate it (you may want to click away the ad to read the subtitles):

EDIT: Closer look at station layout:

Booster (you actually only need one redstone torch, I put two down for the sake of appearance):

How much free time does one have on his hands?...

Not you, the guy who created the Portal songs with noteblocks.

Crashpunk 04-27-2011 01:16 AM

Ever seen that 1:1 scale of the Starship Enterprise made on Minecraft?
that is a great example of someone with absolutely no life.

Phylum 04-27-2011 03:22 AM

Darkhoodness, have you experimented with the powered rail allowing you to go in 2 directions? I found a neat video demonstrating this really well but I can't seem to find it. It has something to do with rails bending to the nearest powered rail I think.

DarkHoodness 04-27-2011 03:38 AM

You mean like the 3 way junction vid I posted in my first of the triple posts?

enchilado 04-27-2011 03:53 AM

:

): is right, you care about appearance but you use gravel?

Also, I do try to play occasionally but get bored very quickly. There are a couple of building projects I want to do but getting the materials is just so damn dull. Especially clay. Brick lighthouse == impossible.

DarkHoodness 04-27-2011 04:08 AM

Point = Missed. "):" isn't an emoticon for starters.

I just found it cooler to speed past 2 redstone torches at night than it was to have them on just one side of a track - Plus they stand out more as a landmark from a distance. Not that it's too important though.

Mobs rarely spawn on gravel and it's easy to obtain and remove - Stone and wood are both tedious to obtain and when I used dirt, animals ended spawning on my skyrail. Gravel is more subtle than sand, especially when it's in the sky cutting across my map, plus traintracks are normally on gravel IRL so I think it makes sense.

Here's an even simpler powered track - But it's not bi-directional and doesn't go as fast as mine:

Scraby 04-27-2011 04:18 AM

im still playing the game, and the weather effect is great,i play normaly, but if i want to build something without searching ages for materials i use invedit

enchilado 04-27-2011 04:49 AM

:

Um... yes, but not ones that are in the air. You're spending so much time on this that you could surely afford to use stone. Heck, even cobblestone is nicer than gravel.

:

I don't cheat. Oh, and MCPlayerEdit is inveditly better.

inveditly, infinitely. Right?

Shit. That's where I saw it.

Scraby 04-29-2011 12:54 PM

lol i accidentaly broke a gravel block and revealed minecrafts deepest depression,i do not dare to go to the bottom, cuz its a one way ticket, and i made to mutch to die down there

DarkHoodness 04-29-2011 01:11 PM

Drop sand/gravel down the hole, then dig your way down through that sand/gravel. When you want to go back up, use the trick where you can jump and place blocks beneath you.

Scraby 04-29-2011 02:40 PM

the hole is so deep that i cant see the bottom, ill try to go down

DarkHoodness 05-03-2011 09:56 AM

Been playing with the junction that was in the vid I linked to a few posts back:

http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1304445319

http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1304445321

It kind of works but the layout of the buttons is hellish confusing even after I label them.

Dynamithix 05-03-2011 10:11 PM

Don't you get bored of Minecraft at all? I haven't played it for almost 3 weeks now because I simply don't want to. It got boring. D:
