Shame, I was just thinking how good it was that you could actually structure a decent and intelligible come back. Paedophilia by God, probably not even possible since he is a spiritual influence in us.

Alcar 07-23-2010 07:59 AM

Of course he is sweetie.

What are your thoughts on Zeus and the validity of Greek mythology? Hell, why not the Mayans too. What makes your religion the right one?

Alcar...

STM 07-23-2010 08:02 AM

In serousness, I don't believe he is a God nor do I believe that Greek mythology ever existed since the religion died. God would likely ensure that at least a handful still seriously believed in him. When Ba'al could not prove his existence. he ceased to exist. Sorry if I went away from topic there. To sum up. it doesn't exist.

Maybe I ask if you presume it is wrong for me to believe God (Christian) Allah and God (Jewish) are the same and therefore, I worship them all as one?

EDIT: I have to go no so PM me if you are interested.

Mac Sirloin 07-23-2010 08:05 AM

Is Scrabtrapman actually suggesting that his view of Christianity isn't too far off from the 'Faith fueled robot' that I warped into this thread some time ago, or am I giving him too much abstract thought credit?

Wings of Fire 07-23-2010 08:08 AM

I think Alcar is being a naughty anti-theist.

Alcar 07-23-2010 08:08 AM

I specifically omitted Judaism and Islam for that reason.

You're not making sense. You don't believe Greek mythology existed because it died out? Read a history book. While you're at it, read the Bible.

Essentially, believing in one religion means that you disregard all others. Are you saying that the ancient Greeks were condemned to Hell simply for not believing in Christianity? Sounds like a forgiving God.

Ugh, i'm never using science as an argument again...

Let me put it this way: just because there is a universe, does not mean there is a God. Proper evidence or GTFO.

MeechMunchie 07-23-2010 08:30 AM

I want everybody reading this thread to go and watch The Man Who Sued God. It's anti-theism for people who can't be bothered to pick up a book. The titular man is actually quite a nice bloke who doesn't have anything against religion (just the use of intangible deities as excuses), so I can see it appealing to a few people here.

Nor does it mean that there isn't a god. Why be so self assured when you can just sink into everythingism and be amazing like me?

Josh 07-23-2010 09:00 AM

Because I can and i'm too lazy to think of an argument right now.

crimsonxking 07-23-2010 09:55 AM

I believe in God. I just don't believe in religion. Not saying I couldn't be wrong either way, either. I've been all over the place when it comes to this issue. One year I was sure he existed. The next I was Agnostic. Then for like three years I was Atheist, then I was Agnostic again.

Then I decided that something probably exists on a level we can't understand, and one of those things probably had a hand in our creation. But I don't think it is most likely the God depicted by most religions. It could be very much like it (since I do find it interesting that most cultures and religions can at least agree that there is a "God like figure" above), but I don't believe any religion is right.

The way I see it, religions haven't changed one bit since the olden days of Greek mythology. It's all just humans trying to explain things they can't understand by making stories that explain it, most stories being based on something similar happening in real life with a huge twist.

STM 07-23-2010 10:28 AM

@Alcar a few posts back - I do and have read the Bible twice in fact, and I studied it over a three year period. I believe all good Greeks have gone to Purgatory so yes, forgiving God, read the divine comedy Purgatorio. A religion dies when it has no active followers any more therefore to me, it is a dead religion now and no longer exists it has few true believers if any. Anyway, I disregard all religions except Islam, Christianity and Jewish, Jewish because my faith stems from theirs, and Islam because they believe in Jesus as well as God, therefore, same people different name.

@Mac, because then every God hates you (including the false gods ((note lack of capitalisation there)) such as Vishnu and Asherah instead of just one!) ;)

The thing is I don't have problems with any follower of any good religion, I just don't believe in their gods and reject them as believers of false gods with no powers.

@Meech Munchie, is it a good book? I was actually going to buy it

This is how I feel for the most part.
I wouldn't be surprised if our creation was a complete accident, and I wouldn't be surprised if some kind of cosmic intelligence had a hand in it. Given the statistical immensities we're dealing with, there are so many possibilities.
I firmly believe, however, that if there ever was an intelligence behind our creation that it was in no way, shape, or form as we describe it in our religious texts. Maybe it was a race of aliens. Maybe some kind of galactic consciousness. Maybe it died or moved on, or maybe it's still there. Who knows?

Well a bad religion is Satanism for example

Josh 07-23-2010 10:59 AM

Theistic, Atheistic/Deistic or Pseudo-Satanism?

Aslo, why?

Wings of Fire 07-23-2010 11:05 AM

Aslo, why?

Because it goes against the core precepts of his religion duuuh.

It's a pretty shitty religion though, aint that right Nemo?

Josh 07-23-2010 11:07 AM

I love it how that implies that Christianity is against individualism.
