actually no one knows where oddworld is located, so it would be impossible to estimate how muc it would cost to ship the xbox from here to there

Zerox 12-03-2006 01:10 AM

I don't think that exchange rate would be accurate...
It should be safe to say that one Moolah is over $5 worth at least.

Wil 12-03-2006 05:23 AM

Oddworld takes place in another dimension. There is no possible canonical interaction between Earth and Oddworld.

Arxryl 12-03-2006 09:49 AM

I imagine that would add an extra $100 or so to the shipping price...[/kidding]

Does anyone know for sure where the almighty raisin originated from? I have heard many things, but I was wondering wether or not there is a definite history to him...

Is there any canon proof of that? It doesn't say anything like Star Wars "A Long Time Ago In A Galaxy Far Far Away". Unless I missed a Dear Alf section.

Unless I missed a Dear Alf section.

You did; it was on the old Oddworld.com, when it was run by GTI. There is no known record of those early Dear Alfs.

Jordan 12-03-2006 01:30 PM

Shame really, it would have been fun to see those Dear Alfs, maybe OWI will release a History section to the new site which shows images or even a replica of the old site.

Nate 12-03-2006 02:28 PM

They have stated that the would have done that already if they could. Unfortunately they did not produce their early website - it was through their publisher - and they did not think ahead to back it up. Now it has been lost into the ether.

in stockyard escape, i recall having seen more than just 2 moons. skillya? you just recently played through AO, how many moons are there?

I'll assume that you're referring to me...Well, if you add up the ones from every single screen, and of course most of them are the same moons really, so technically I'd be counting moon pictures, there are...18.
Take into account that some could be the same ones, I only excluded the moons that were obviously the same ones, without that there would consequently be 19.

Oh and by the way...Does anyone know Lorne Lanning's birthday?

Bullet Magnet 12-03-2006 04:18 PM

Those are only the moons on that side of the world, that side of the sky, at that elevation. You could take that as a random sample and multiply it up, but even without the ambiguous Oddworld dimensions we've been given, the result would be phenomenonly high.

Arxryl 12-03-2006 07:21 PM

So... is thre a definite story behind the almighty raisin? or is there only fan fiction about it?

Bullet Magnet 12-03-2006 07:25 PM

He used to be a tree, and later became the stump we know and love. He was moved below ground to escape the industrialists, and can psychically see through the eyes of the Ratz.

Arxryl 12-03-2006 07:30 PM

Ah... okay. thank you.
(so awkward he used to be a tree through... but that's still cool.)

Patrick Vykkers 12-03-2006 08:37 PM

I'm not sure if this is the right thread, but does anybody else think this guy looks a lot like Stranger?;

Arxryl 12-03-2006 08:39 PM

hmmm.. well, technically that is an Oddworld question so...

yeah. he is a little stranger-esque...

Cullen Heath 12-04-2006 02:17 PM

Not really, I think he looks like a Starwars character. The way he dresses.
Maybe his facial features may resemble Stranger in a way, though.

Patrick Vykkers 12-04-2006 02:44 PM

He is a Star Wars character.

Xavier 12-04-2006 10:04 PM

no he doesn't look like Stranger
not every mean looking furry face looks like Stranger

well that's my opinion

aaj111 12-05-2006 07:42 AM

That actually looks more like stranger than the other picture. :P Just a robe like thingy and a big gun.

Xavier 12-05-2006 09:31 AM

lol
I had a shave since then :p

Arxryl 12-05-2006 02:10 PM

But still... that second picture looks a little closer.

How old do steefs get? Does anyone know?

I know. It took me... a while to find a furry picture of you.

Slaveless 12-07-2006 05:25 PM

To tell you the truth, Arxryl, we really have little information on most species of SW, compared to the information on characters of Abe's adventures. We don't have a single clue on what Gloktigis seem to do, besides kill Stranger. We have little information on Oktigi, as well as Wolvarks. I have no idea how Outlaws accuire technology. Yet what I must say, is that the information we are given, is enough to say that is all what we need to say that we know them.

Zerox 12-08-2006 01:37 AM

I do know that Gloktigi gaurds are used to protect the Glukkon queen, Margeret.

Bullet Magnet 12-08-2006 04:18 AM

And that all of the outlaws' stuff is looted from other species (usually Clakkerz).

Arxryl 12-08-2006 05:23 AM

Okay. thank you for answering my question!

I would like to know where you got that. I have never heard it.

Xav, wasn't that picture a few years ago? Belgium looks beautiful! And you, too, of course;)

aaj111 12-09-2006 09:01 PM

In AO there is some 'camp fires'... Who would set some fire? Maybe some Sligs because of a cold night?

Arxryl 12-09-2006 09:08 PM

Probably. It may also be one of those things that can only be explained with the reson that they (being the game makers) needed a little bit of light in the area.
