Can someone tell me this how are the oddworld creatures born if there are no females and why are there no females?
|
There ARE females but they are never mentioned, in MO there may be female Scrabs and Paramites in their packs.
|
The only time I saw a female which was in Stranger's Wrath which is the clakkers.
|
Actually, there are female Grubbs in SW as well.
In AO-MO, there are only three females meationed. Sam, the queen and mother of Mudokons, who is enslaved at her own will. Skillya, the brutal and cruel, and only queen of Sligs. The last one is Maggie, the Glukkon queen, who is under life support. I have some questions of my own. In AO, the temples have bells, which you need to open most of the doors. Can anybody explain to me why can Abe possess the bells and are the bells attached to any string? |
By queens, we mean breeding females (like ants, or bees). For those who don't know. Ahem.
We may be unable so see the string due to the resolution, but if they are floating, then can't it be put down to mudokon magic? When we played AO for the first time, I don't think any of us gave a second thought to the magical powers that we saw. As the games delved further into the Glukkon's consumerism that kind of thing was forgotten, and now we demand scientific explainations for everything. Still, they wouldn't be the only floating objects in the games (security orbs, anyone?). As for the possession, it does seem odd that a non-living item could channel the possession powers. Perhaps they were forged with spooce energy in the fires of Mount Doom? |
One bell to open doors one bell to float in midair on bell to have non explanible posesive abbility.
|
It may not seem logical that Abe would be able to 'possess' bells, seeing as his power seems to be localised towards possessing sentient creatures, but you must consider that the bells were made by Mudokons for Mudokons, with a knowledge of what muds are capable of. So perhaps we should not call this 'possession' per se but merely a channeling of the mystical chant power.

Actually, I think that is a transvestite slig. Female sligs are enormous termite-like egg laying machines, of which there is just the one example: Skillya.
|
Oh. Are there any pictures of Skillya?
|
If there is I certainly never seen it. Is she in the Art Book? I noticed maggie straight away but no skillya.
|
Lol some Sligs and Mudokons are very camp and like to get on their feminine side, hence the Slig dressing like a girl would.
|

That isn't a female Slig in that picture. Skillya is the only female Slig. That Slig you see in the picture is a Slig who lost a bet.
|
Well, it was a dare, wasn't it?
I have a question of my own. On the Munch's Øddysee "Logo" with all the Skirkits Crawling around all the Needles, there is a Spine in the Big Injecting Needle (I don't know the name of that tool). Does anyone know what Creature this may belong to? My best guess would be a SeaRex...Or are they Invertebrates? |
I didn't know where to post this. Can someone tell me if this is an official OW pic or just somwthing made by a fan?

Cullen, I believe they said it was Gabbit lungs in the book
and that wallpaper is definatly fan made ;) |
Seeing as the background is from Stranger, I'd say it's from a fan.
EDIT: Sorry Xav, looks like you posted as I was waiting for it to download. |
:
Lungs? I'm talking about the Spine in the glass, normally where liqiuds would go, in that Needle. HOW can that be (a) Lung(s)? |

|
Yes thats fan made.
|
Calliope of Disturbing Needle Elements. I like it!
I don't know, Xav. I don't see any lungs anywhere. I've had some "close examination", but all that I see inside the main Syringe is a big Spine...and that can't be what they're talking about. |
can someone put a pic of this syringe I cant find this Picture youre talking about.
|
I think it's a pic you can only find in the "The First Ten Years" Oddworld book. I'm not sure, but it might be this one:
http://www.oddworld.com/firsttenyear...munch_logo.jpg |
That's the one, but it's bigger in the book.
I also had to double take at that, not being able to see any lungs. Either it's a Gabbit spine, or a generic spine. |
here's a better version
http://www.oddworldlibrary.net/togg/...=RAMO0131.jpg5 |
It's a ribcage, with lungs inside. Extended, of course
|
:
Thank you. I'm glad someone agrees with me:p . Xav, if you're saying that the book is correct, can you please point out the Lungs? All I see, and all I have ever seen, is a spine. |
