I forgive you, Shade.

STM 02-08-2015 11:36 AM

I would but I don't know if I can forgive now that I've lost.

Varrok 02-08-2015 12:52 PM

STM, quickly, forgive him BEFORE HE BEATS YOU TO THAT.

Shade, You were responded to with such negativity mostly because were a bunch of douches. Don't take it all to heart. It's okay to like speedrunning, but you seem to take it a bit too seriously.

STM 02-08-2015 02:08 PM

Yeah, sorry for snapping at you guy.

MeechMunchie 02-08-2015 04:31 PM

I got bored of this thread faster than all of you. What do I win?

Yeah, well... Its the only reason I came to this forum...

Im not a fan of oddworld. I like strangers wrath, and I love New n Tasty. But thats it. I like the world, but I only like 2/5 games, to me that doesnt count as liking a series.

And I mean, WHO doesn't like speedrunning? :P

Job McYossie 02-08-2015 08:14 PM

Me. I don't. I find that speed running ruins the magic and exploration of games for me.

STM 02-08-2015 09:58 PM

Yeah to be honest I always thought speedrunning was dull and dishwater. The only thing worse is watching other people do it.

Shade667 02-08-2015 10:07 PM

Each to their own. I find it thrilling. Its a competition. Racing others to see how fast and skillfully u can complete a game. Its like a sport.

New 'n' Tasty 02-08-2015 10:22 PM

speed running this game seems kinda silly, whole point of the game to look at all the detail not run past it all fast and only focus on key points...ie (leavers) (bombs) (sligs)
now your missing all the background and foreground detail. that being said speed running any game ruins it.

You say it like I havnt completed the game before I speedrun it. I platinumed the game on PS4, completed it 3 times before I started running it. Most of the time u have to play a game for a hundred hours before u start speedrunning. Speedrunning is a way to enjoy the game after youve done everything else. Im sure most people who are getting it on PC will play through it twice, maybe 3 times. After that, youve experienced all u can. Im not missing any part of the game, I assure you.

Crashpunk 02-09-2015 02:54 AM

I admire Speedrunning. It does make a game last even longer and it does require a good amount of skill. It's just another way to enjoy a video game.

That said though. I personally wouldn't have the time nor effort to get good at speedrunning. Attempting exploits/glitches and spending hundreds of hours practicing the same bit over and over again isn't really my idea of fun.

Holy Sock 02-09-2015 03:20 AM

I like to watch the odd video seeing someone beat Fallout 3 in 20 mins or something to that effect. Although my only experience in speedrunning has been Crash Bandicoot's time trials.

Job McYossie 02-09-2015 04:07 AM

I wasn't attempting to say speedrunning was bad, merely that it does not suit me.

Of course. Speedrunning is for the type of person who strives to improve. Who plays a game every day to see improvement in themselves. Its like playing a fighting game. Its a hundred hours of frustration followed by a minute of unrivaled satisfaction when u get that one run that ascends you to the top. Theres not much like it.

Nepsotic 02-09-2015 08:03 PM

Wait... Surely speedrunners have enough time on their hands to patch the game themselves?

Shade667 02-10-2015 01:52 AM

trust me, If i could, I would. I dont know why companies dont hire speedrunners to test their games. It would take the fun away from glitch hunters though.

Job McYossie 02-10-2015 10:28 AM

That's why I prefer to play games where both the character and the player get better as you go.

Shade667 02-10-2015 03:45 PM

Then its a good thing they make games for everyone. As I said earlier, Each to their own :D

I wouldnt say that Abes oddysey is that type of game though. Abe doesnt improve until u get shrykull, and thats, like 6 hours in (I dont know, it takes me about 1 1/2 hours to get to shrykull).

Yeah, if ur not competitive I dont see u enjoying speedrunning. Its like Esports. I know people who think E sports is boring, but I love it. And its weird. Ive only had the internet for about 6 years. So for 70% of my gaming life ive been purely single player, and in 6 years ive transitioned to playing mostly competitive multiplayer.

Nepsotic 02-10-2015 04:15 PM

Please, for the love of god, make a speedrun thread.

Nate 02-10-2015 04:28 PM

What Nepsotic said. Or use an existing thread about speedrunning. No more discussion about speedrunning in general or speedrunning NnT in this thread.

Shade667 02-10-2015 04:47 PM

I have a speedrunning thread, and it was a good break from talking about textures :P

STM 02-11-2015 02:12 AM

I'd rather talk about textures to be honest. Awesome, early PS3 era textures.

(Disclaimer: I don't care about textures, they're fine by me.)

Havoc 02-11-2015 02:24 AM

Trading cards have been added :D

http://steamtradingcards.wikia.com/w..._%27n%27_Tasty

Xavier 02-11-2015 02:29 AM

I always knew the Abe face on the NnT cover was actually part of a bigger and weirder design (when this was quickly changed to this), but honestly I wasn't expecting a full mindblow.

I love it :) is there any way to get it in bigger format?

Crashpunk 02-11-2015 02:31 AM

I'm so getting the foil badge. this is the first time I've actually wanted to collect the badges and cards. :)

K100 02-11-2015 02:41 AM

It remind me this :

Xavier 02-11-2015 02:54 AM

Well OWI thanked Alex Konstad officially when releasing the box art on oddworld.com here:

Havoc 02-11-2015 03:04 AM

That picture (the original and the boxart version) creeps me out.

K100 02-11-2015 03:09 AM

Oh, I didn't see that. Thanks Xavier.

Crashpunk 02-11-2015 03:36 AM

The full "That Would Blown my Mind" art piece

http://i.imgur.com/X8kzSVBl.jpg

Got to say. it's probably the most 'Odd' Oddworld art I've seen yet.

Xavier 02-11-2015 03:41 AM

Amazing, thanks. :)

Where did you find this?

Crashpunk 02-11-2015 03:44 AM

The card is in my inventory.

:p

That's pretty fantastic. But is the art unfinished because the foreground of the bottom right corner seems to have a placeholder "copy and paste" of the flue-gas stacks in the background.

leocrow 02-11-2015 05:32 AM

It's only 1 week 2 days 20 hours left

Varrok 02-11-2015 06:46 AM

Now I wish it was showed fully in the boxart. I mean, it would be like 100x better

Manco 02-11-2015 08:25 AM

Oddworld and surrealism, together at last and making sweet sweet ugly babies.

I thought the same thing actually. It actually takes away some of the appeal of the piece because of the copy and pasted parts.

Still. If you ignore it, it's still really good.
