The Shawshank Redemption.

I know. Shame on me for only seeing that now. Great movie though, lived up to its reputation.

Sekto Springs 08-05-2010 11:41 PM

I'm glad I saw that movie before I saw all the parodies of it.
Parody media has ruined alot of classic films for me. I'll never fully enjoy Citizen Kane.

Josh 08-06-2010 03:48 AM

The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Tim Curry makes a pretty hot Transvestite.

shaman 08-06-2010 04:37 AM

I saw that last night aswell, Josh.

YOU'RE LUCKY, I'M LUCKY WE'RE ALL LUCKY!

i never saw any parody of citizen kane... i think. Anyhow, I just saw amelie poulain. Charming, smart and perfect for getting me in the mood for forthcoming trip of mine.

Wings of Fire 08-06-2010 08:18 AM

Any media that includes the word 'Rosebud' is basically a parody of Citizen Kane.

Josh 08-06-2010 08:19 AM

Even your post?

Wings of Fire 08-06-2010 08:27 AM

IT WAS HIS SLED

Sekto Springs 08-06-2010 12:53 PM

It's even got it's own trope.

Josh 08-12-2010 03:49 AM

The new season of Ugly Betty. If you think that was gayest thing I could do, I was drinking Pink Lemonade with a Lemon wedge and a mini umbrella while watching it.

Daxter King 08-12-2010 07:16 PM

I was hoping Lemon Party would have been involved halfway into that post. I was disappointed.

The Day After, standard nuclear war movie. Wasn't too bad, but then at the end they have a little crawl about how in real life, it may not be as severe as they depicted it, but they hoped that the movie would scare people enough to prevent a nuclear war. At that point, I couldn't help but laugh.

Oh that's a great movie, and it actually did have a big impact on the US and Russia at the time of its release.

Has anyone seen Scott Pilgrim vs The World yet? I'm thinking about seeing it today, I'm not familiar with the source material but I heard there's a lot of references to early 90's video-games so I wanna see it lol.

Daxter King 08-12-2010 09:48 PM

Looks to have far too much Michael Cera for my tastes, I plan on seeing The Expendables instead.

Sekto Springs 08-12-2010 10:56 PM

Yeah. Scott Pilgrim should have been an animated movie. The style of the comic is so simple they could have pulled it off easily, and then I wouldn't have to look at Michael Cera's fugly face.

Plus, in general, I just hate him.

Strike Witch 08-12-2010 11:00 PM

From what I've seen of the comic, it seemed not very funny and really pretentious at points.

Sekto Springs 08-12-2010 11:03 PM

So I guess it's perfect for Michael Cera then.

OANST 08-13-2010 06:54 AM

Do you guys think that I can be edgy, and hate movies because they have a baby face looking guy in them, too? Gee golly gosh, I sure hope so.

Strike Witch 08-13-2010 07:09 AM

Who's Michael Cera?

OddjobAbe 08-13-2010 07:47 AM

Emily gave me the boxed set of Dad's Army the other day. It's a fantastic programme. I always thought Corporal Jones was the funniest, but I don't know now. I find Private Walker slightly funnier than I used to.

Dynamithix 08-13-2010 09:44 AM

LEAVE MICHAEL CERA ALONE!

No but really, he's annoying. Girly voice too. Year One is by far the stupidest movie I've seen. I saw it at my friends' house, big mistake. And the worst of all; I think he enjoyed it. O_o

Stow it. An ugly person can ruin an otherwise good movie, don't tell me it can't.

Besides, it's not only his appearance. It's also his voice, the kind of characters he portrays, and that he's a self-absorbed prick in real life.

I hate such and such celebrity so much it makes my pussy hurt!

Sekto Springs 08-13-2010 10:07 AM

I hope you don't plan on using that as an excuse to get out of our nightly sexings.

OANST 08-13-2010 10:13 AM

I do.

Mac Sirloin 08-13-2010 10:23 AM

I remember way back when I was 16 years old and I hated Micheal Cera because Juno was such a giant pile of shit, then I watched some Arrested Development, Superbad, and Paper Heart and realized I was being an immature fucktwaddle.

Scott Pilgrim looks absolutely fucking awesome. I've actually read the comic
(not all of it, but enough), and without puking spoilers everywhere it's just about some loser (he is literally a gigantic fucking loser) who meets a girl and they decide to hang out a bunch.

Then he has to defeat her 7 Evil Exes JUST BECAUSE and it turns into a really fun, silly little comic. The movie looks exactly like that: Fun and silly. And since our options were basically Micheal Cera or...Jay Baruchel, I think we got it okay.

Sekto Springs 08-13-2010 10:53 AM

I really like this.
I'd probably enjoy an animated series based on the comics more than a single, live action film. But I won't know for sure until I see it. I can see why they opted for live action though. Blending the comic-book elements with the live action (and not in the Zach Snyder kind of way) makes for a more unique overall experience.

Daxter King 08-14-2010 06:50 PM

The Expendables.

Fucking awesome movie. The movie opens up with a bunch of pirates getting shot up, and you just know the rest of the action is going to be great. And the rest of the action is glorious. Some of the serious plot stuff dragged on too long, I found myself zoning out through half of it. The other half I laughed at it a little, but I like to think they made it like that on purpose. The gore is stupendous, with knives, bullets, and fists being thrown everywhere. I think the weakest point is the CG, they dont use it often, but when they do it seems they only had enough cash to achieve the quality of a SciFi original. That barely takes away from the movie though. Overall, a great movie that accomplishes what it set out to do, blow shit up.

EDIT: Just remembered, most of the gore is CG, that CG is good. The CG Im talking about comes later in the movie, and is on a much larger scale. You would know it when you see it.

Hazel-Rah 08-14-2010 09:50 PM

I saw Eat Prey Love today instead of Scott Pilgrim 'cause my mom wanted to see it and well, IDK she liked it. I actually liked the story I've always wanted to just get up and go to another country on a whim like that, I'd go to Italy too even though I hate soccer and the metric system.

Oh and Dr. Manhattan was in it and at one point he appears in front of Julia Roberts (in her imagination) and she says to him "Everything must end" or something and I was really hoping he would say "Nothing ever ends" but he didn't. So yeah not for me and it was also really fucking long.

Daxter King 08-14-2010 10:09 PM
