Well, most of my music stays pretty much under one very broad genre, because I sincerely hate most other music (I'm not close-minded about it, but I really can't even think of one pop or rap or wuss rock or country song that I like). Let's see what I have on my mp3 player:
Black Sabbath Blind Guardian Cradle of Filth Dimmu Borgir Iron Maiden Metallica Ozzy Osbourne Rammstein Six Feet Under Terasbetoni Modest Mouse Anthrax Behemoth Manowar Megadeth Opeth Pantera Queen Rhapsody Slayer Cannibal Corpse Judas Priest Amon Amarth Falconer Rotting Christ Marduk Satyricon There are a few anomalies, but it's all pretty much one broad genre. There's more music on my computer, however at the moment it's a couple miles away. If anyone listens to more than half of these bands, I love you. |

let's see...
one, two, maybe three... nope, not much into that kind of metal. sludge/drone/doom/post ftw, ie Indian, Abominable Iron Sloth, Buried Inside, Between the Buried and Me, Psyopus, Buried At Sea (there are a lot of Buried bands... Burial included) etc if you like any of these I'll like you more, but you get less points if it's only Between the Buried and Me |
I went to the Lovebox music festival over the weekend.
While I've always loved Goldfrapp, I've fallen in love again. Alcar... |
Just bought one of Snake Davis' earlier jazz album. That fellow is made out of complete awesome. Great music. His jazz/funk ones are awesome.

I'm so clueless on popular music. Liek srsly. I'll go and sample all of these bands you've listed, Skillya.
|
Well, I wouldn't exactly say it's popular music =|
And you guys that replied are awesome. |
Because you wouldn't like it if it was popular! Amirite?
|
Me too, me too!
:
so, how many points did I get? |
Haha, sometimes I feel like I'm the only one here who isn't a metalhead. Modest Mouse is the only one on that list for me.
|
I feel proper the same Matt. Sigur Ros rep ftw

Holler! 5 stars for the spacey shit. Although I gotta say, I probably haven't been listening to it enough. After I first heard Gobbledigook, I got the new album, and it's so goddamn epic. That's all I've really heard though. I burned Takk, so that's high up on my ever-growing list of things to listen to.
Recently I've been going through a bit of a hip-hop phase though, the biggest player in that equation being Aesop Rock. Labor Days, Fast Cars, and None Shall Pass are all unbelieveable, the foremost in particular. It's one of those when you can tell you're on a similar wavelength with the artist. Plus, his beats are ridiculous. 9-5er's anthem, anyone? Other than that though, the albums that have been getting a lot of play are Broken Social Scene's "You Forgot It In People" and "Illionois" by Sufjan Stevens. My pussy-rock phase sort of ended after I stopped listening to Bright Eyes ravenously, but that's a damn good album nonetheless. BSS is brilliant as well. And that's what I'm listening to nnnooooooowwwww!!!!! |
I've been listening to Animal Collective non-stop. Ever since I heard the album "Feels" I haven't been able to stop.
|
they are so very good! But my obsession with the past is like a KIIIIIIIIID FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT etc
Last night I saw Lou Reed's Berlin at the Wellington film festival, it kinda blew me off my feet. I didn't really like Reed too much beforehand (knowing not much else outside of Sweet Jane and stuff) but this album was really heartfelt, inspirational and way ahead of it's time. |
I got the new Belphegor album, Bondage Goat Zombie, at Comic-con last week. The dude who was selling it said it was 'fucking awesome'. After listening to it I realised he made a huge understatement. It's way beyond fucking awesome. I haven't been able to stop listening to it since.

What a fucking terrible name XD Mabye it's because I don't really like much straight black/death at all (in fact, only probably about two bands or so), things like Brain Drill appeal to me much more. some deathcore ftw
|
The new TV on the Radio album comes out next month. This has me excited.
|
ok so OWF i herd u all lyk dethcoar
Black Dahlia Murder's vocalist ftl. All Shall Perish ftw, except most of their boring "we can be all poetic and melodic" songs. War From A Harlots Mouth ftmfw. |
I found my old Thin Lizzy LPs, and my Vinyl still works.
This is fucking awesome. |
So, Death Magnetic seems pretty fucking good to me...
|
Oh my god I heard the single from Death Magnetic and HA FUCK it's pretty much just a emotionless medley of everything they've ever done

Please tell me you weren't expecting something different:p
|
Death Magnetic slays! The Day That Never Comes is the worst track, although it'll be so fun live.
|
I've been listening to Ratatat a lot recently. The album Classics is aptly named, to say the least. I'm not usually one to walk around listening to dancey electronica, but this is the most special exception of all.
I also started listening to another electronic band called The Knife. I think they're Icelandic, quality stuff! |
Ratatat are fun, but get boring if you have their discography. Seventeen Years is awesome. and The Knife are just weird you weird little boy
www.myspace.com/happysleeptime <- shameless self promotion. new track up today, 'Bare Feet'. music to fall asleep to |
 This gets funnier every time I see or think about it.
|
I don't get it.

As a side note, I just found out that Cannibal Corpse are from Buffalo, the hometown of me. I don't know how to feel!
Cool stuff, Leto. How do you make them soothing sounds? I'm assuming it's guitar effects and such, but I really have no clue. |
