But now, the question is: What plant? Cirtainly not Spooce or Hum Shrubs? And I think those are the only ones that we can put a name on.

I agree that there are no other plants on Oddworld that OWI made a name for, but what about the ones in the backround of our games? Cactus, moss, and all the trees from Paramonia and the Wildness Region. Those could have made Mudokon clothing.

Edit: I have my own question. Do Gloktigis have their own sort of intellgence? Can they speak like Glukkons and think like Vykkers?

Wil 06-26-2006 03:56 AM

Oddworld plants: Opple trees, elder trees, popberries…

Gloktigi are a complete mystery. We've seen them as pets, but we don't know anything about their intelligence or origins. Sekto's two personal Gloktigi at the end of Stranger's Wrath almost seem to listen to and understand him, but they'd attack Stranger whether they were told to or not. They're also robotic, which doesn't make them good examples.

Bullet Magnet 06-26-2006 04:46 AM

Lifetrees, sligbane, grimroses, slognip, cud-cosies, laizies, naffodils
...my fanfic involves a florist. Don't ask.

Those Gloktigi were cyborgs, like the outlaw semi-autos, flamers, or Elboze Freely.

Nate 06-26-2006 04:59 AM

Those outlaws are actually creatures in armor. That's why Elboze had the weak spot on his back - he had lost the armor plate that went there.

Bullet Magnet 06-26-2006 05:40 AM

Oh no, I beg to differ! Whether they lost the limbs in fights or had them removed, those are actual robot limbs. Packrat Palooka does them, apparently.

Elboze Freely is a complete cyborg, all his limbs are replaced, his jaw, and Odd knows what else. He still has some meaty parts left, but doesn't appear to have any skin. I expect he had a disagreement with a flamer back in his minion days.

Nate 06-28-2006 06:25 AM

Uh... is this some sort of fan-fic theory or are you actually basing it on something?

used:) 06-28-2006 03:42 PM

These days, it seems like the line between canon and fiction is becoming quite thin with a large portion of the Oddworld fan base.

Mudoko_Jedi 06-29-2006 03:07 AM

elboze freely has got armour on he is not made of robotic stuff thats why he sais "who forgot my back armour!"

Xavier 06-30-2006 12:17 PM

elboze freely is a big mistake...
anyway I see him as an outlaw with robodic features to enhance his competances...

Slaveless 06-30-2006 01:10 PM

I alos have another question. How long has Sekto's reign had been going on for? Many years, I'm supposing. I was thinking 20-30 years, but the Clakkerz seem almost too civilized.

Xavier 06-30-2006 01:51 PM

I'm not sure how much time... I'd say 5 years, but it's a wild guess

magic9mushroom 06-30-2006 05:34 PM

Windmill picture pls? One out of MO.

Just go onto TOGG.

I don't know how to navigate it.

used:) 06-30-2006 06:15 PM

Then figure out how.

Nate 06-30-2006 11:34 PM

I'd say Sekto would have been around for much longer than five years; he would have had to have acheived some level of power to build the dam in the first place and target all the steefs. Then it would have taken some time for the Mongo valley to become a the desert and for the Clakkers to move in and supplant the grubbs.

This could be a topic for a seperate thread.

what's the problem, how could it be more easy?

Questions

When is Tex named? In the credits? Somewhere in the cutscene? In some behind the scenes commentary or interview?
Also, what the heck is a Mug?

Mudoko_Jedi 07-01-2006 03:38 AM

1. im not sure how people found out his name.

2. a mug is a meetle which has been captured by the industrialists and fed meat instead of vegies and the industrials use them as a fighting creature.

Also, what the heck is a Mug?

It's a stubby cup like object with a handle that people use to drink beverages such as coffee out of.

Wil 07-01-2006 02:37 PM

The Glukkon in Munch's Oddysee that speaks with a Texan accent is credited as “Tex Glukkon” in the game's credits, which is actually a description rather than a name. But that's where the name comes from.

:

Elboze Freely is a complete cyborg

:

Uh... is this some sort of fan-fic theory or are you actually basing it on something?

It's probably based off the pneumatic noises he makes when he moved. Personally, I don't like any of the cyborg Outlaws. They are out-of-place and completely frivolous.

Bullet Magnet 07-02-2006 03:04 AM

I'm pretty sure he is entirely cyborg. As I said, all his limbs and his jaw are replaced, and his organic parts are heavily armoured.

What do you mean, out of place? The sligs have mechanical limbs, and they can control them when they never even had any legs! That means that they probably don't have the brain function to control them either, yet they do! Packrat is a genius amounst thieves, it'd be a cinch for him to perform such... "operations".

Wil 07-02-2006 06:34 AM

The Glukkons are mass-industrialists with close relations to twisted Vykkers scientists. The Outlaws are common-society miscreants with no formal system of business or education.

Sligs being given mechanical legs makes us realise how puny they are without them. Outlaws pack a mean punch without robotic additions. There's no reason for them to exist.

Patrick Vykkers 07-03-2006 05:09 PM

Slig Question

A bit of an odd question. Would it be possible to give a Slig (not a crawling one) a wedgie?

used:) 07-03-2006 05:40 PM

No, underwear is required, which Sligs do not have, and don't give me that "but they could" bullshit. And they don't wear "mechanical pants," they wear mechanical legs.

Patrick Vykkers 07-03-2006 06:31 PM

Slig Wedgies

Of course they don't. I'm almost certain you actually see the majority of a Sligs body while in pants in a few of the FMVS (Brewmasters assistant comes to mind) and it looks like they're going commando. Then again, Lulu's valet jumps out of his pants and you can see purple material on his tail. Thanks for the leg thing. It was largely wondering if you could wedgie them with just their legs, but no.

used:) 07-03-2006 06:39 PM

I wasn't referring to you, par say, when I talked about the "but they could" thing. I was referring more to the general over-analyzing populace of the GD forum. :)

Patrick Vykkers 07-03-2006 08:40 PM

I know. I didn't feel offended, it was just a comment.

Slaveless 07-06-2006 11:09 AM

I have a question. On the offical site for SW, it says that Sekto was able to suck the life out of everybody that wanted to know who he was. If so, why didn't he try to suck the life out of Stranger. Did he want him alive or are Steef not affected by his vibrant glow?

Mudoko_Jedi 07-06-2006 11:53 PM

Maybe it meant if he wants to kill people he sucks the life from them.

Eh, can you give a link for that specific site?

From memory, it didn't necessarily say he was able to suck the life out of everybody; just whomever his host is. I would assume that an Octigi would have to subdue an enemy before suckering onto it.

Yes, I read it, and I'm thinking that there must be a misundering.

While I agree with all of the negative-wedgie comments, I still must point out the Slig quote of: "Pants, pants, I need some pants!"

As for the host comments, Stranger wasn't exactly very 'close' to Sekto. hah

The Sligs call them pants. They are still mechanical legs

Wil 07-08-2006 03:14 PM

It's simply an allusion to Sekto's parasitic secret identity. It's an example of advertising liscense. I wouldn't take it any more literally than I would Homo Sapien Syrup or Good Human Ice Cream, both used to advertise Abe's Oddysee.

Bullet Magnet 07-08-2006 04:13 PM

I think it is more of a spirit, vitality or "will to carry on" thing, rather than a literal effect.

I know. I just couldn't help but point out where someone might think of them as "pants."

Mudoko_Jedi 07-10-2006 12:44 AM

Does anyone have a cool oddworld backround?

Nate 07-10-2006 06:48 AM

A few people do, judging by the thread in OT. You could ask that question there. Or if you really wanted to ask the question in an Oddworld-exclusive way, you could start your own thread here in GD.

But this thread is probably not the best place to ask it.
