A couple of thousand stacks?
Anyway, I have a large chest and a half or so of cobble I can donate. Should get some more when I start mining again. |

My building is tiny in comparison. Are you overcompensating, Dark?
|
Maybe a little. 'cept it's not all my work - I think everyone's chipped in a bit, specifically Dripik, Crashpunk, Scraby and Ridg3. Thanks to everyone else who's donated stone and helped with clearing so far.
Here's a progress update on the biggest stone grid structure ever (I won't be using the AO Intro FMV music for every update to save repetition, but since it's the first one...): |
Can anyone tell me the IP of the server?
I'd love to build on it. my minecraft ign is DafDethKlok :) |
Bloody heck. The music does its scale justice.

I may have a couple stacks of cobble lying around the shack and lair, so feel free to grab 'em if you're in the area. :
Are you building every single map from AO in there or something? |
I think the scale would actually allow that...

Seriously. That's fucking tremendous. I have a history of screwing up my building projects, so I'll keep to supplying cobble to you guys. I can't get on today, so feel free to take some from my house. It's the 2nd door on the right, 1st chest on the ground the left. Take all of it if you want. Did any of you guys dig any fucking huge, vertical cobble tunnels right next to the canon? I found some weird shit in a cave yesterday. Namely the aforementioned tunnel http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1308797715 Which ended up on the surface here http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1308797715 There was also a 2 block high wall of cobble blocking a small are off and a cobble path around some lava, which could easily have been a malformed dungeon or water. |

Beside AmazingManco's shack, whoever that is. Also, I was shocked to learn that Wariopunk is in fact Crashpunk. Who'd of thunk it, right?
|
Max, I'm guessing someone saw diamond at the bottom of a world hole.

Forgot to take screenshots, but I just found some weird tunnels too.
I ran across a little hole with a ladder leading down it not far from my lair, hidden behind a tree. I did a little exploring, there's a fairly large network of caves down there. Strangely, there's nothing down there except torches and some cobblestone blocks - if there were any ores they've been cleared out. I thought it might have been from when people were looking for the gravel beach cave, but nobody seems to recognise it. |
Oh, yeah. There were no torches in my cave when I first arrived there, either.

Splat's tower of the sun.
Nice view from up top. |

I'm a sucker for detail, and it's a shame I don't have access to the Art of Oddworld Inhabitants book anymore (google books doesn't show what it says about Rupture Farms). It is just Minecraft and there's only so much detail we can put in the interior, but I'd like it if it resembled the inside of Rupture Farms a bit. We'll have this much space to play with, and it's 9 floors high - But since the Oddworld RPG map has only 3 floors, maybe each of the floors in the RPG can be made up of 3 floors in the Minecraft version. (the top of the RPG map is orientated to the west, BTW) :

Mmkay Hood, I read it :)

I was toying with the idea of building another tower and connecting them by a glass bridge.
|
It's a really cool tower, but I strongly recommend lighting it up - especially the underground section. You don't want it filling with creepers.
|
Or you could use the bottom of it for a mob trap and have the goods flung up to a collection room? You could use the launcher that is used in TNT cannons, and place it on the ground where you would want it to be launched, and as the items flow into it, it shoots them up one floor via a trap door that opens up when the launcher is activated. ^_^

Or make more towers around the main tower in that manner, each starting and ending at different heights. Then we'd have out own Mage Tower of Glass.
|
The tower has torches all the way from top to bottom (which is at bedrock), and a main beacon at the top. Unless someone's pinched them.
Mage Tower of Glass? (I'd look it up but I'm getting shouted at.) I just like the idea of a near-invisible and safe walkway stretching right across the top of the world (nothing can spawn on glass, and it's too high for them to anyway). Also, thinking about the floors of Rupture Farms, I think the basement of the map could fill the bottom floor and go down if necessary. Since in the RPG that part was abandoned we could leave some of it unlit, making sure the ceiling is sufficiently far from the floor to prevent creepers doing too much damage. Floors 2 and 3 from the RPG could fill two floors each, with extended production lines. That brings us to 5. Then I guess we could put the top floor on two layers, making seven... Some rooms there, like the conference room, could look epic over two levels, but others are supposed to be cramped offices, so that makes difficulty. The roof had different levels in the RPG, so leaving part of the top floor open on the sides would give us 8. But I get stuck at 9. Unless we crammed a whole new floor in, but... Or we could contrive to make the 'ground floor' 3 levels. |
I'm rethinking the conveyor-belt idea. We could use pistons and push blocks along instead. We also need to get some passive mobs spawning in there so that we can harvest them.
