EDIT: My French didn't make sense. Here's a Poirotism instead.
Oui, mon amis. Hercule Poirot, world famous detective! |
Fuck. I found my first fucking wolf, tamed the fucker, and started to head home. When night fell I built a big fucking tower of blocks like usual, and the dumb fucking mutt teleported up next to me. Fell and fucking died, didn't he?
You can tell the wolf to 'sit' I believe.
Yeah, but I didn't fucking think of that, did I?
So he teleported to a space without a block to stand on? That will probably be fixed.
To be honest, I didn't actually see him teleport and fall. But he was there when I started to build up and was gone in the morning.
Aren't aggressive mobs aggressive to wolves?
I read on the wiki that they weren't, but it was likely to be changed. Maybe it was and I wasn't told. :(
Not seen this many wild wolves in one place before - Spawned randomly on the plains outside my new castle (there's actually 8 of them but one of them is off the edge) - Maybe I should've tamed them all for a laugh:

*doublepost*
Minecraft scheduled to come out of beta on 11/11/11 - Notch is also working on weather effects: http://notch.tumblr.com/post/4423138657/11-11-11 |
WE SO EXCITED!
I don't really care about it coming out of beta, but weather sounds awesome.
I want to see an elevator or a pulley system of some kind being implemented. Fuck, it would make it a lot easier than having to chisel a stairway into deep, dark chasms.
:
I'm interested in how weather effects would work out - would they affect blocks/mobs/whatever in any major way (other than "making them wet"), or would they be purely cosmetic? |
I imagine rain will be just cosmetic, but (as Notch mentioned) snow will make snow on the ground and also freeze water into ice.

If there was an elevator, they'd want to make it expensive. I'd expect something like requiring redstone in making the tracks that I'd expect it to require.
If they could be redstone operated traps would suddenly have a greater potential for intricacy. EDIT: Ench mentions in the next post that my post didn't make grammatical sense, so I've re-written it. It's an atrocious block of text and I'm ashamed of it. I've decided to leave it up there for comic reasons. I'd hope that elevators would be costly to build and maintain. If they used tracks as Ench suggested, the tracks should require something like a unit of redstone dust or two to craft. If it were possible to control elevators with redstone circuitry, there would be huge potential for better traps to be created. |
I swear half of what you just said made no grammatical sense whatsoever, have you been drinking?
Also, I sent Notch an email telling him to add Glue, which would allow Sand and Gravel to be suspended in the air and, with pistons added to the main game, would allow for some really cool designs: glue would get pulled back when the pistons retracted, and would move not just blocks in front of it but all blocks touching it. |
Most impressive Minecraft world ever. |
I have never played minecraft. Feel free to call me a noob but uh...
What do creepers do exactly, and why are they so scary? |
Are you going to design a Minotaur skin?
In a pyramid?
Are you going to design a shuffling cursed mummy skin?
Yes!
Even better, create a texturepack that makes zombies look like mummies. And skeletons like mummies with bows. And creepers like exploding mummies.
Yeeeeeeeah. |

http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Creeper http://www.minecraftwiki.net/images/...wocreepers.png In Minecraft it will haunt you til your dying day. They spawn at night and in the very early morning. They make no idle noise and when they get close, they'll ignite and blow themselves up. They aren't really that strong. People just don't like the element of surprise because you can't hear them coming until it's too late. I recommend a lot of cactuses or a starting area on a cliff so that you go downwards to start your day. |
Awesome work on that maze, WoF. Be sure to post a vid when you're done. :)
EDIT - Weather effects and achievements preview: (Actually I'm really hoping lighting won't set fire to things - That'd kinda suck) |
The achievements look really nice, but I'm not too fond with the weather update. Sure it's all cool and what-not, but I'd really like to see an option to turn it off; I wouldn't want a snowstorm making all my water areas icy.
My understanding is that it's only snowy biomes that receive snow, so it's only going to be a problem if you've built your water areas in tundra or taiga.
I hope the weather doesn't change as frequently as it does in that video preview; that'd get annoying real quick.
