So I guess I'll have to dump that array from the memory of AE and then try to write a decompressor around that.. |
Any progress paul? - This thread is falling :(
|
paul keep up the work, we are all with you ;)
|
Hm, it's been a while... any new progress?
|
Keep up the awesome work!
|
Hi, i made an account, just to say this is awesome, and you should continue!
Plus i made a Rupture farms mod too. Screenshot1 Screenshot2 Screenshot3 Download |
Welcome HTML_Earth
Those screen shots are looking good :) |
Like Xavier said, welcome HTML_Earth. Very very nice screenshots as well. Where's Paul got to?
|
I like those screenies =D Nice work. I hope Paul does come back soon...
|
Thanks! It would be so cool if Paul started making the level editor.
|
Im still alive :p I've not worked on this for quite some time, the problems are:
1. AE cam files seem to use some custom compression that uses a hardcoded lookup table. 2. Both AE and AO path files seem to have a lot of specail cases that are also hardcoded :( However... at runtime I did manage to change all muds to sligs in AE which was pretty funny, I think I have a screen shot of that some where, and I also mananged to change some of the muds in the mines to ones that scrub the floor edit: when the flying sligs where turned into muds they would just fall from the sky and die when they hit the floor, I thought that was so funny.. |
Sounds pretty awesome. I'd love to see that screenshot =D
|
And a description of how you managed to do it would be really great.
:D |
Sounds interesting indeed, some screenshots would be awesome...
or even better, some videos. |
Has anyone found out how the demos are stored?
(The ones that play when you are in the main menu and wait for a while) Edit: I forgot, you can also access them in the options menu in AE |
Good question, HTML_Earth! If we could have that figured out, might it be possible to share amongst ourselves our own short gameplay recordings? Possibly? Please?

Or in the levels? |
no, they're in the lvl archive(s), theres a tool in this thread some where for editing them, just grab a hex editor and screw with the joy files, maybe you'll figure something out, I doubt it though (apart from how to edit the file in 999999 ways and make it crash)
|
Keep up the good work Paul ;)
I hope we can all have a nice level editor from you |
Time for some encouragement, so here goes.YOU CAN DO IT PAUL WE BELIEVE IN YOU!
|
I wonder to have AE backgrounds! Paul, we belive in you! Good job!
|
GO PAUL!
TELL ME WHEN YOU DO IT OR WHEN A DEMO COMES OUT! WE BELIVE IN YOU! IF YOU DO IT I WILL CALL YOU THE ODDWORLD GOD! |
Hello! Paul, I wish you good luck with your slicing and editor developing. As for me I gave up an idea of editing old abe games. I'm going to develop a 3D sidescroller using HL2 engine (i tried with HL1 and had some results but the graphics and the engine itself are completely obsolete). Besides Havoc physics would come quite handy.
|
GO PAUL! GO PAUL!
