The rapping was top notch, though, and A Christmas Fucking Miracle and Banana Clipper are some of my favourite songs of last year. But I really enjoyed Kanye's really experimental approach to hip-hop on Yeezus, and it was really damn cohesive and almost felt cinematic to a degree. Sort of like watching some kinda of grotesque film about the dark side of life as a massive celebrity. RTJ on the other hand just felt like a half hour of bangers, which is definitely sweet and fun and all, but doesn't have a ton of staying power for me. |

Oh man, this music... |

Bought some CD's the other day at the flea market. Third Eye Blind's self-titled, Alice in Chains' Jar of Flies, and Harvey Danger's debut. Not a bad pick up, never listened to the last two. The first one I've actually owned for a while, bought it for like a dollar at a pawn shop and it's scratched as shit. So I'm looking forward to really delve into that one for real.
And Meech, I will check out the last two after I get into this one. I mostly bought it though because of the Peep Show theme song and because I needed a 3rd album for the three for five dollar deal they have and it was the best thing after AiC and 3EB. Hopefully the rest of the album is as good as that single. |
Oh, it's not. Sorry.
Jack the Lion is pretty good, though. |
Well I hope it's not bad.
By the way, some of you guys should try plug.dj sometime. It's fun. It's basically an online room with a DJ that plays songs or whatever through YouTube, complete with a chatbox, odd animal people that dance and a trippy background. Oh, and a points system. So I guess it's kind of like a game. But yeah it's pretty dope, I've used it quite a bit over the past year with people from an online music forum I frequent. The room is usually pretty active, given the massive userbase of this site, but it's pretty diverse in terms of types of music that gets accepted. Hell, there's some chill electronic on right now, which came after death metal, which was preceded by psych rock, after playing some weird electronic progressive rock. I guess it's a bit rock based but it honestly depends who's there. Some people can be assholes, for sure. In short: im fuckin baked come jam |
Can't get it off my head. I absolutely love their music. |
I discovered today that SpongeBob SquarePants had Pantera in one of their episodes...
MIND = TOTALLY BLOWN TO PIECES... |
OK, I think I've got the hang of HD's second album. I definitely can see it as a halfway point between their first and third albums.
Yeah, profound, right? We all heard about the rapist nun She pulled a switch on everyone The altar boys aren't having fun And the papacy is drawing up the papers I have a stinger I am a honeybee I am a razor Please cut your wrists with me You're supercommon You flaunt your pedigree You're clear as water I am the subject Of your documentary You have a question? I am the third degree I am authentic I'm authenticity I'm no such thing I don't know what Soul Survivors is, and I don't care. |

This has a very bizarre 90's-future-vibe, weird shit |
I dunno if any of you Australians remember Silverchair? I heard this on the radio the other day and instantly remembered their CDs I got for my tenth birthday.
Shame that their newer stuff is completely shithouse though. Also while I'm here, does anybody use last.fm? |

So, it's official. BTMI! is fucking dead. Well, they played their "final" show a few weekends ago, at least. And I wasn't there... because it was all the way in Brooklyn. I mean, I could have made it, but it would've cost me pretty much all my expenses, and as an unemployed person I needed those expenses... Oh well. I'll just keep praying for a reunion tour. It'll happen... |
Holy shit, Schoolboy Q's coming here in May, that's two rappers I really like that I'm going to see live in a span of three months. In Finland. Crazy.
Been spitting (more like trying to) that Kendrick verse every now and then, I love it. "And I'm more than a man, I'm a God, Bitch, touché, en garde!" |

Best hip-hop album ever. So eerily prophetic. It's the year 2010, you can say what you want But I bet if you light this blunt, dummy, the feds'll come runnin' Lock you up, lock you out, you ain't tryin' to listen Cameras in your food, dude, look they're trying to listen Lock you up, lock you out, we got bugs in the house We're being monitored, they know we got thugs in the house Don't light your blunt, bitch, they'll hit you with a switch Hit you with a beam, hit you in the brain, make you go totally insane Wild out, guns in the spot, flippin' on you niggas They take you out, then the Feds push guns on the roof They take 'em out, snuffed you out cause you know too much After that you know your ho's get touched Look, then the meeting starts Download your chick to a memory card Give her chips and send her to a city job Maybe a little paranoid but goddamn it paints quite a picture of dystopia. Album is just that - a journey through a frightening, dehumanized cityscape. Or some bullshit like that. The beats are awesome. Listen to it! |
You can download De La Soul's complete discography for free on their site today! Happy Valentine's day!

Dang that is rad. Copped their first four.
Been jamming the Fate hard as of late, almost forgot how incredible this album is. Superb musicianship, epic themes and amazingly theatrical and rapturous vocals from King Diamond equates to one of the best heavy metal albums ever. A masterpiece, I mean just listen to those riffs and solos galore. Classic! and DAT COVER ART |
fucking haunting
codeine demon |
yeah, LUM is dark as fuck. haunting is a good word to use. Halloween-hop. His main influence on that sound is 3 6 Mafia, I'm pretty sure. check em out:
Graveyard beatz. They're a bit cheesier though but I think they can rap a fair bit better. |
|
Picked up Graduation on CD, love the packaging and the poster that came with it. Champion is one of my new favourite songs to do my morning routines to, can't help but smile when that song starts blasting.

New Dopp Gang is legit so far, just like the rest of their stuff. Might even be their best... |
