The Zombie Survival Guide isn't exactly a high brow parody. I'd say they wrote it in a month if that.

But World War Z? Man, pick up the Audio book of that if you can. Download it or whatever. I was really impressed with it. :
|
I'm reading Demian by Hermann Hesse.
|
:
Still doesn't fill my wallet though :( |

Doctor Faustus again. It's not that good. I might go back to The Lord of the Rings again.
|
Just finished Cloudworld by David Cunningham. I have mixed opinions about it primarily the rapid character decay of the briefly strong and decisive military officer Reah, who then spent most of the book agreeing with everything the fourteen year-old prince said, but mainly the Halo 2 ending. Nevertheless, now that I know there is a sequel I must get it.
Am now reading Richard Dawkin's The Greatest Show on Earth, which so far has been fascinating, hilarious and peerless. |

Re-Reading I hope they serve beer in hell so I can be extra disappointed when the movie arrives in theaters. |
|
I'm reading The Universe: A Biography, which is a great one to read if you want to try to understand what was happening 1/32 of a second after the Big Bang began.

"I HATE JEWS AND I'M A WEIRD FUCKER. NOW I'M DEAD." AUDIOBOOK of WWZ. It's good. Fucking love Mark Hamill. |

"ALL MY SHIT GETS REJECTED" |
Hey all I know is before Lovecraft came along people didn't associate tentacles with aliens, so as far as I'm concerned Lovecraft saved the world...
But yeah I never read the gn, it's supposed to be part biographical so they can't forget all the racist stuff. You have to appreciate him as a writer though, he was selling his works to his publisher for practically nothing yet he stayed passionate about writing, he truly loved it and I respect that. |
He also loved Eugenics and calling flashlights "electric lanterns".
|
That doesn't make his literature any less interesting.
|
HE NAMED A PET CAT NIGGER-MAN
Seriously, dude was ridculous. I love the Colour Out Of Space, though. |
I read the Zombie Survival Guide, well...not all of it, but bits and bobs. It was damn useful incase of zombie invasions, so...I really did just waste 2 hours.
Pretty much has good examples of why people die in zombie films, BECAUSE THEY'RE DOING IT WRONG. Srsly. Destroy your stairs and wait it out in the attic, with food and a shotgun of course. The book assumes you have a local gunstore O_o And a whole bunch of tl;dr jargin. |

BUT STILL HIS WRITINGS GOOD |
Eh, they can be pretty damn hammy.
|
His language is romantic, wtf do you expect? Find me a piece from a romantic writer of that time that wasn't hammy.
|

|
Yeah, reading manga adaptations of Lovecraft's work hardly permits you to be critical of his work.
|
....Hmm.
The only adaptation of Lovecraft's work I know of is Demonbane, and that was a anime about a giant robot powered by tentacle-rape of a girl or something. Sorry, no manga. |
There is a webcomic about Cthulhu trapped in My Little Pony. Or something like that.

Funny for about four pages, but the joke got old fast.
|
I didn't say it was good.
|
I've started finally reading the book "Don't make me think" which is about web-design and userfriendlyness... It's a really nice read so far =D
|
Lol. What a title.
|
:
It's the important rule for web-designers to keep in mind. If a site is not obvious/difficult/confusing to use, they will most likely leave and not eturn. Making an obvious site with good design will keep a user going because it is easy to find the info they need. I think it's a rather fitting and catchy title. |
Oh yeah, I totally got that. I just love how directly they deliver that somewhat depressing concept.
|
I don't think it's depressing. It's a fairly simple principle; if people have more than one option to do/read/learn something, they're going to choose the easiest approach. That's just common sense conservation of energy.
T-Nex, you may find the book 'The Design of Everyday Things' by Donald Norman interesting. It's more about design of objects and machines, but it still has useful principles that you can draw out. |
I guess you're right. I know I wouldn't want to spend tme trying to figure out a site as opposed to just doing what I needed to do.
|

Anyway, if I go to a website and I can't immediately find what I was looking for I leave, and I never come back. |
Final Fantasy and Philosophy, The Ultimate Walkthrough. I couldn't resist, the front cover was just too awesome.
I may buy the Watchmen and Philosophy or Batman and Philosophy books depending on how much I like this one, I can't see me buying Twilight and Philosophy though. |
Are they a bit like those 'Science of...' books but with philosiphy instead of science?
