That's kinda the ENTIRE POINT.

Just because they're small objects, doesn't mean they make less of 'em. That factory will make loads of them still. It's not like people don't need them.

...I assume Glukkons won't be using either of those anytime soon, though.

Bullet Magnet 05-18-2008 07:31 PM

Take one tree, chop it down, make your toothpick, and chop down another. That seems to be the gist of it.

Those can't be cheap toothpicks...

But all the Mudokons are washing the floor in the Splinterz... who is working at the machinery?

Possibly the machines are automatic?

I have a question myself... What are slurgs made into? Fuzzle chow?
Tooth paste ( Highly doubt it..)?

And so Glukkons need Mudokons only for a floor washing? I must say... they are VERY VERY FOOLISH CREATURES!!! I don't think they use Mudokons only to wash the floor...

Zerox 05-19-2008 10:00 AM

Are Slurgs made into anything?

And yes, Glukkons are foolish. Otherwise they'd make thousands rather than just one toothpick from trees, and use more efficient, less pollutant methods than the ones they do now.

abe is now! 05-19-2008 11:43 AM

And who should use their toothpicks and chopsticks?

Zerox 05-19-2008 11:52 AM

Who you think? KHANZUMERZ.

Any species with teeth and a diet can use toothpicks, and Glukkons fit this bill. Sligs may have to get their hands dirty and do it for their masters. Now nobody ask how Glukkons wipe their bottoms.

I don’t think BM was being literal. Glukkons are wasteful of natural resources, but they’re not inefficient manufacturers.

Much machinery is automatic. RuptureFarms was still chugging away when all the slaves had been rescued. In the ‘Security Camera’ MO gameplay visualization, you can see that Mudokons in Splinterz were going to be operating levers, and according to the other videos, perform a whole range of duties. The reason we see them all cleaning the floor in Munch’s Oddysee is the same reason we see them all cleaning in AO gameplay, despite the fact the videos show Mudokons pulling levers and pushing floor waxers: it’s easier to programme. An in‐universe explanation: it was the floor‐cleaning shift.

Slurg Sundaes, sold by RuptureFarms.

This screen in AO has always confused me because running to the well holding the up arrow does nothing (in my PC version at least).
http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1211261348

Does that move work in the Playstation version?

Bullet Magnet 05-20-2008 02:58 AM

Just as with doors, it only works when he's skidding past the well. You run to it, but not past it.

Wil 05-20-2008 03:21 AM

Yeah, the parchment doesn’t make itself clear. It’s the same in both the Windows and PlayStation versions: you have to be skidding to a halt when you pass/reach the well/door, not just running right past it.

abe is now! 05-20-2008 03:26 AM

Was the "Alf's Rehab & Tea" going to be a playable level in any Oddworld's game after AE?

Wil 05-20-2008 03:30 AM

It was seemingly going to appear as a native structure in a Mudokon village, but no idea if it was going to have any gameplay custom tailored to it. Maybe getting Mudokons to pile firewood in front of it would give Abe good Quarma/Spooce.

abe is now! 05-20-2008 03:34 AM

Ok, thank you. I know Mudokons have a Spooce mentality and religion, but it's since MO... is it the same for AO and AE?

Wil 05-20-2008 03:38 AM

Spooce is a psychotropic substance; it does not appear in AO or AE in any way.

I have always thought that the Quarma is formed of the birds that come from a Mudokon when he dies. But in Munch's Oddysee, when a Mudokon takes a Spooce Shrub, does his Quarma better? Do Mudokons need Spooce only to sing and to open doors?

Wil 05-20-2008 04:26 AM

No, Spooce is a drug that helps Mudokons connect with the spiritual world in the same way many takers of cannabis will claim. This is what many tribal cultures on Earth believe: certain substances can better connect you with the spirit realm. Quarma is a kind of universal judgement of your ethics, just like karma in many belief systems. Quarma is earned by performing good and spiritual deeds. Spooce just helps Mudokons get to know the spirits of nature.

And could the Almigthy Raisin a good intermediary for the Mudokons?

Hulaabeo 05-20-2008 01:22 PM

Is there any Searex faces out there?

Wil 05-20-2008 02:18 PM

Not since the last time you asked.

Unless you mean Sea Rex fæces.

Why weren't there flying Sligs in Munch's Oddysee?

At a guess I'd say it would've been too hard to program the mechanics for controlling possessed ones given the deadline that OWI had to work to.

Bullet Magnet 05-20-2008 05:27 PM

Floor. Cutting room.

Hulaabeo 05-20-2008 05:45 PM

That is Sekto, he is a Gloktigi, they are parasitic beings that replace the heads of other creatures and control them. To this end Sekto had controlled the Olden Steef.

Because a 3d world offers far too much freedom. Flying sligs would be able to pass beyond the artificial barriers that hem each level (walls, fences, cliffs, that sort of thing).

Oktigi. Gloktigi are the huge creepy things that scuttle around Sekto’s factory spitting adhesive green goo and whirlwinding into Stranger like a Sycorax Christmas tree.

Hulaabeo 05-21-2008 03:36 AM

Can someone find a good picture of those helicopter things where they drop a vending machine that machineguns your mudokens and make them drunk?

Wil 05-21-2008 04:02 AM

Just get the art book, already, Hulaabeo. There is a fantastic picture of one in there.

abe is now! 05-21-2008 10:17 AM

I don't remember where I downloaded this pic, sorry. There are some Gabbits around Munch... what are they doing? Why are they around Munch? Is it a part or an old conception of a MO's episode?

I don't have the money for it... This is madness but whats that dieing fish on the net that the Grubbs were staring at?

Silver Cyborg 05-21-2008 11:40 AM

So, where ARE all the gals?

Hey everyone. Me and my mum were just playing on Abe's Oddysee, when we noticed something odd. All the Mudokons are guys. I don't think I've ever seen a female Mudokon.

I've only played on Oddysee, Exodus and the GBA version of Munch's Oddysee, but I'm sure there arn't any girls in any of them. Does anyone else think it's kinda strange?

Oh, and sorry if this has been brought up before.

This is simply a little part of a promotion poster for MO, the little gabbits swimming around Munch represent all his yet to be hatched offspring.

It’s a dying fish. Note the singular. When the Grubbs go fishing with nets, they should expect to catch more than one per cast. There are no fish left because, as you identify, they are dying.

Not necessarily his offspring, not biologically.

Hulaabeo 05-21-2008 02:04 PM

I mean what kind of fish is it? I know what Worryfish are and thats way too small to be a searex and too big to be a worryfish.
