I've had that one several times before

I didn't notice that. Lol. Haven't been here for so long. And luke, I thought you quit OWF a long time ago. :P
Going on topic: I once edited one of the level files in notepad2 then when I started the game, I instantly got mulched. I laughed my ass off! |
Has anyone seen some of th glitch videos that LoStraniero91 has done?
They are awesome! I particularly like the Elum Chaos ones. |
one thing i do hate you can loose elum in paramonia and cant finish it without him so you finish the part until guess what you must use your earlier save very very annouying
|
It's not a glitch, though. You just stuffed up.
~Sorry. Enchilado |
No. Elum, unlike Abe, has a limited number of lives so after he dies a certain number of times, he won't regenerate. I had this happen to me in Scrabania in the first section with the many moving bombs. I'm not totally sure if he couldn't regenerate (because he had died too many times) or whether he regenerated somewhere else.

How? It happened to me numerous times during my early years of Oddworld (when I played it at the age of 9 and died in nearly every new screen and needed my mum's help to finish the game).
Although it could just be that, as I said before, Elum is just reloading in a different spot to Abe. That could be it, but I distinctly remember Elum not regenerating in any screen after he had died a certain number of times (like Abe does in the PS1 demo of AO). Another glitch to share! I'm not sure if this one has been mentioned before, though. When you throw a rock/grenade/bones, the trajectory of the object can change slightly when you throw it in a certain direction. In other words, the object you are throwing misses what you threw it at even if it would normally hit it. For example, I was going through RuptureFarms 1 and threw the grenade and the last 3 land mines blocking the exit and the grenade just bounced in between the land mines and missed all of them! I would show footage but I can't pull it off consistantly. A better example is in Paramonia, when you throw a rock at the land mine on the other side of the first big jump. Yeah... I missed it 6 times! |
Elum spawns at the last save you had him at it won't matter he should always spawn next to you if you had him unless your game has glitched very badly, also demos aren't finished copies of a game they're just releasing it so people can get an early feel of the game so they have developed skills in the game, another thing when you said you threw a grenade and it landed in the middle of the mines well it wouldn't matter it's a mine it will blow up once the timer goes off.
|
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand breathe.
|
Aaaaaand yes, I've had Elum respawn in a different place to me. It worked like this:
PARAMONIA After gaining Elum for the first time, jump across the huge gap you need him for, and walk through the hill to arrive at the Mudokon that whistles a tune you need to copy to lower a platform. Go back through the hill. Jump across the gap. Hop off Elum and run up to the first screen of Paramonia to save your point there. Then, tap the mine, the one that explodes after you tap it. Wait. Die. You'll respawn at the first Paramonia screen, and Elum will appear on the other side of the gap. The one you can't jump across without Elum. I haven't tested this to make sure it works every time, though. |
Aha! My housemate discovered an unwinnable situation in the early screens of Paramonia, but we couldn't later remember what it was. It could have been something along those lines.
|
Urgh, I've had that happen before. :dead:
I had to restart because of stupid Elum. |

He means that the mines don't explode as soon as they're hit with the grenade. It just sits there spinning behind them until it explodes.
I've noticed that in AO, on the screen above the one that leads to the Stockyards (with the sleeping Slig) there's some mines. I throw a grenade in there, and after it explodes along with a mine, there's another grenade there. And it keeps on going 'til all the mines are gone. |
The land mines DO explode when hit with a grenade. And the reason there is another grenade there is because it is the same grenade. The grenades don't explode until after 6 beeps. It's always been like that.
|
this ones probably been found
In block 3 of the slig barracks, if you jump from 2 steps away from the edge of the upper left platform on the 3rd screen up, you'll land in the well at the bottom, shoot up 4 screens then land back in the same well and get shot up again, and that will just keep going |
I noticed in AE if you use inviciblity cheat sometimes when slogs bite you you hear a buzzing sorta noise.
|
Maybe the game is trying to figure out why you would want to be invisible next to a blind dog...
|
Glitches aren't glitches if you used a hack.
|
HAHA! Another Abe's Oddysee glitch! I found this while making a glitch vid to go with an LP I'm working on.
Alright. You know the bee hive in Paramonia that you need to hit with a rock to stop Elum eatng the honey? Well, occassionally if you wait for the bees to stop attacking Elum, you can hit the bee hive again (while it's on the ground) and bees come out! |
In Scrabania, as you know, there are some pits that you have to jump with Elum as there are bats flying near their edges. But if you throw a rock at one of those bats both of them will disappear and you'll be able to jump that pit with Abe. But this may not always work.
|
Another way to do it is to make Elum fall down the hole by himself but using a rock is less cruel I have to say.
And back to when I was talking about Elum not regenerating, I found out what was going on. Ok. Go to the screen with the first set of three moving bombs in Scrabania. Then run back to the previous screen and die. Abe will regenerate in the screen with the moving bombs but Elum will not. Now, why and how does this work and where is Elum? Well, I tried pulling this off in a different spot and discovered that if you die in certain places in certain ways, Abe and Elum can reload in different spots to one another. And here are the screenshots to prove it! No, ddcheat was not used as it is the PlayStation version. |
disappearing and teleporting paramite glitch
paramite glitch if you are chanting at the right time, right place and paramites are comming, then chant in right time and one of paramites will diasappear and the paramite will teleporting at the start. This glitch does not working on PC version.
|
EDIT: Oh crap... I did it again. It's me T-nex posting from Chris's account cos I forgot to log off... SORRY! x_x
Original Message: Me and CHris were playing AO the other day, and I was trying to get through Rupture farms. I decided to go visit Zulag 2, even though I knew it was closed, but on the way back, when the animation stopped everything froze, and what happened next was that all the sounds from the CGs played one after another. As if something had triggered all the sound files to play. Even the ones from the various door-scenes. It was weird. But we lost all the progress :( boo. |

Oh! That chanting glitch works in a similar way with Scrabs as well. If you chant at the right moment just when a Scrab is about to jump over a gap, the Scrab won't jump and will fall down the hole instead.
Also, I discovered that if you chant near a chant suppressor and drop 9 grenades, when they all explode the game (usually) freezes. I think it's due to the fact that the game can't cope with that many explosions on screen at the same time, but I'm not entirely sure. And if any of you are feeling brave, go to Paramonia, let the bees from the first beehive come after you and try going down a lift. You will be surprised by what Abe does. |
i did the behive glitch once, doesn't he move the lift super fast!
|
I was making of second tool - assisted speedrun video but this just supricely happened to me oao - strange corruption glitches

Glitches
Well, glitches thread was gone, so I created it again. That was one of my favorite thread, so i had to put it back. Hope this thread does not harm anyone, especially administrators. Well, anyway here is some glitches what happened to me little while ago.
EDIT: I thought this thread was deleted, so I was misunderstanding. The boardroom alarm Dumb Greeters "Levels shortcut" < That glitch found by Blaadiblaadiblaa Corruption mess |

Oh.. Well, thanks for the link, Josh.

In Scrabania, when you possess the Slig (in the fourth area, with the BOOM! lever), as soon as you get him going down on the lift, try shooting.
TADAAA! The lift will keep going down and the possessed Slig will shoot, successfully terminating the other sleeping Slig. Not a wonderous one, but still wanted to contribute it. And check out LoStraniero91's Big Glitch Vid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNSMVs74j1E). It's got a ton of glitches, and I've seen a fair few of them while playing myself. |
in the area where there is a sleeping slig and an electric fence on the next screen, there is a secret area, (the one after the page with the bombs) go in the secret area and grab a grenade, then throw the grenade and wait for it to explode, then get another one and sit next to it facing the opposite way, hold square and keep turning round while crouching, you grab loads of grenades! but if you get to many the game crashes lol.
|
I remember picking up a grenade and using all but one, then somehow being able to get more from the grenade machine. Each time I went back for more, my total number of grenades increased by 1 (first 5, then 6, then 7, etc.). The weird thing is that when I did it after collecting 9, instead of saying 10 it had a very, very small happy Mudokon face.
... I'm still not sure whether this was a dream or if it really did happen, but I nearly pulled it off using meat in Paramonian Temple (I managed to be holding 2 meat). So does anyone know if this can actually happen? |
