Shrykull may be an aspect of a loving deity that may create life, but the Shrykull itself appears to be a being of righteous vengeance and destruction. It cannot create, but it can level the land so that mortal forces may do so.

This one is either for Max or Xavier: In TaoOtFtY on page 180 in small text and picture it has a Intern turning into a vykker explain throughly please :)

Man :/ I guess the Vykkers are going to have to be silent. Thanks for the replies anyway! ^^
I have yet another question, I hope this hasn't been asked before... It's about Oddworld as a planet; I heard it was really big?... Three times the size of Earth or something? I have a friend that says the gravity on Oddworld would be unbearable because of that. He says that even if its creatures would have evolved to be stronger to stand it, the water would be weird and the tides would shoot across the landscape in huge waves every time it came in. How does Oddworld avoid that? Also, I was personally wondering how Oddworld's size might affect its years? The question's been asked; how old is Abe in human years? Assuming the idea that humans live for 80 years, and Mudokons live for 40 years, Abe is 15... I want to say Abe would be 30 in human years, but do we know whether or not his age listed on the website is in our years or in Oddworld's years? Maybe that's just confusing and doesn't have an answer... |
I heard that Oddworld is ten times the size of our home Earth, but I've also heard that may reflect the metamorphic side of it (i.e. it has a lot more wildlife and stuff that Earth, supposedly) so we can't be sure if it really is physically bigger than Earth by much.
It says Abe is 15 on the OW site, right next to the average life span, so I think it's safe to assume it's Mudokon years. So yeah, Abe would be about 25-30 on out world. |
The statement "Oddworld is ten times the size of Earth" has been open to debate since Lorne first stated it. Is this volume? Diameter? Surface area? Content? Metaphorical? I believe it was said that any new technology or cultural movement would take ten times as long to spread around the world as it would on Earth. Whether this is due to the distance, the conservative nature of the inhabitants or something else is not clear. The Glukkons have used fat as a highly inefficient fuel source for hundreds of years, they are resistant to change.
If this were a physical distinction, there would have to be a number of reality suspensions or elaborate physical anomalies to ensure the environments we have observed on the planet. In terms of gravity, one unusual theory I heard was that there was an exotic ore that exerts the antigravity force, used in security orbs, that counteracts the expected gravity. Another is that the planet is less dense than Earth and therefore has less mass to exert gravity, but given the planet's size this would not happen. Plate tectonics is also an issue, and it is required for there to be life. The size of a planet does not affect its year length- that is related to the distance from which it orbits its star. We don't know what kind of star it is, so we don't know how far out the habitable zone is. Size does affect rotational speed though- the day length. Larger planets tend to spin faster, so an Oddworld day would therefore be much shorter than an Earth day. However, the tidal effects of the moon slows the Earth's rotation to its present speed, so all of Oddworld's moons and the elaborate tidal system they create could reset the day length to a more familiar one. I think the ages and life-expectancies on Oddworld.com are probably in Earth years for convenience. |

I have a couple of questions;
1. On this page (http://www.oddworld.com/firsttenyear...w_molluck.html) it displays a walking animation for Molluck that is listed independently under (http://www.oddworld.com/firsttenyear...s/animated.gif) But AFAIK, Molluck has never appeared in-game in AO, AE, or any other games. On here (http://www.oddworld.com/firsttenyear...ow_dripik.html), the animation is identical, but seperate (http://www.oddworld.com/firsttenyear...s/animated.gif). Why create copies instead of using the same GIF for both, or just get rid of the misleading "Molluck" animation? 2. I heard a rumour that Alf had stated Dripik was the highest ranking Gluk seen so far. How can this be, when the cutscene (can't recall the name) where Abe leaves Necrum for the first Feeco Depot visit has Dripik specifically saying; "Molluck's gonna be pissed! First Rupture Farms, now Necrum Mines! If he ever comes back, we're screwed!" Why would Dripik fear Molluck if he>Molluck? Of course, it could be referring to military status. |

If you don't know how to answer, THEN DON'T!
*sigh* 1) When they did the Molluck page, he was the only named glukkon so they probably put that walk cycle in to display general gluk motion. Then when they did the Dripik page they had probably forgotten that they'd used it for Molluck or just didn't think anyone would notice. 2) I don't think so. We've been aware that Molluck was the three gluk's superior for some time. I don't remember Alf saying anything different. Maybe try and search for the quote. |
To support Nate's answer for number 2, Molluck is (or was) a very powerful Glukkon. He is supposily head of the Big Cheese class and supreme representative of the Magog Cartel. So even though he doesn't have as much wealth as Dripik does, he certainly is a lot more powerful.

Is the Glokstar status only reserved for those high in wealth, and not power? Lulu had no power, yet when he got enough cash, he became a Glokstar. It seems the Big Cheese status is kind of the most powerful, seeing as Molluck isn't a Glokstar.

Actualy the present version of the site was donne after AE and before MO was released. There was a different site to promote the launch of AE. So I doubt your answer is the right one ;) |
From memory though, the universe pages were not changed then.

I know this isn't a very in-depth question, but if all mudokons are green, then how come the natives are all blue in AO? I am incredibly confused about this, please help! If i'm not oddline when anyone bothers to answer this, can they please PM me? I really just HAVE to know!
|
Actually, the Glukkon walk animation there is V.P. Aslik.

Yes!

Second of all, I have created a theory that is supported by OWI that Mudokons that are closer to nature and the beasts around them become more vibrant colors, and resemble the environment in which their ancestory started from. Such as Abe, where his colors resembled much of his environment. That can say why Mudokons in slavery without much abilities are green in AO. Thrid of all, by MO the people in charge of creating the games started to realize that creating Mudokons that looked very much a like was not the way to go. Even more so when inventing classes for the Mudokons. In fact, some of the shamans MO without body paint looked a little less blue than Abe. So that explains the reason why natives are blue in AO and not in MO. |
ah interesting. but meat pie? i aint into meat except fast food meat.
#1: If glukkons smoke cigar, what kind of cigar are they smoking? #2: Did Abe's mom got slaved? #3: Is there a Slig Queen? #4: Is there a Glukkon Queen? #5: Is there one glukkon that is a good guy? |
#1: I believe Glukkons smoke a kind of cigar that is named LungBusters. Some may smoke different kinds, like Molluck. 'He smoked expensive Surprisingly Swisher Sweet brand stoggies', so I would guess the same company would produce a similar product.
#2: Yes, Abe's mom (or Sam) was enslaved a matter of years ago. It was planned in Munch's Oddysee that she was to be freed, but no such luck. #3: The Slig queen of Sligs is named Skillya, a very cold hearted queen who only thinks of her fortune. In fact, whenever her kids are in trouble, she plans to eat them. #4: The Glukkon queen is name Margaret. She too was planned to be in Munch's Oddysee while in trial with Molluck. Again, never happened. She did however get a mention that she was on life support in the Good Ending, when she never got a lung transplant. #5: On Oddworld, there really isn't bad guys or good guys. Just characters who have been centered around the storyline. Abe may be a hero of the natural world, but he kills masses of Industerial species and complete factories. So, there couldn't really be a good guy. I think the closest to what you're thinking as a Glukkon would Lulu. He accidently helped out Abe and Munch without knowing it. But an actual Glukkon who purposily helps out Mudokons... None that we know of so far. |
bravo! :)
Now then, is there gonna be other kinds of colors of brew, such as red (made from mudokon blood, not meat), blue (made from only tears), and yellow (made from mudokons nail)? |
No, because the addictive properties are in mudokon bones. Other body parts wouldn't acheive the same goal.
Oh, and I moved a couple of posts around to the Oddworld Food Flavour hread so as not to have the question going in two places. |
more questions!
Is there gonna be a new slig, new glukkon, and new power for Abe's to use? if yes, can you tell me what are they? |
No, no and no.
OWI are not making any oddworld games, films or other properties at the moment. When they do come back to the quintology, they will probably be focusing on new heroes and new enemies. Abe will still be around but he'll be a supporting character. |
More questions! What does UXB stand for?
Why are glukkons brown? What does a slig ACTUALLY look like without the masks? What are the glukkons' suit made out of? How do they made bones into brew, if bones aren't ice? When was the first mudokon was born? What was the first mudokon's name? After a while in Abe's Exoddus, how did all the sudden Abe become more brighter of a color? How can a Elum be so loud as I can see in your avator? Lulu wore glasses because his eyes were sore? Does chanted guys actually have blue eyes, as also seen on Lulu in Good Ending? Is Boneworkz is one of the hardest executive office levels out of FeeCo Depot Office, Boiler Room, and Slig Barracks Executive Office? What was Aslik the vice president of? How did General Dripik got so many badges? Who was the Slig of the Month in Slig Barracks, if there was such thing? Which mudokon has the longest hair? |
:
Why are glukkons brown? Because they were born that way? Not all Glukkons are brown, you can get purple ones too. What does a slig ACTUALLY look like without the masks? Apparently really ugly. All it would be is a pair of red eyes and the tentacles. What are the glukkons' suit made out of? Some sort of Oddworldian fabric perhaps. How do they made bones into brew, if bones aren't ice? What...? When was the first mudokon was born? Thousands of years ago? What was the first mudokon's name? Who knows? After a while in Abe's Exoddus, how did all the sudden Abe become more brighter of a color? The blue colour is to show he's the hero and saviour of Oddworld. In AO, he started off a light blue, because he was the chosen one. And in AE, because he'd saved all the Muds in AO, he was a darker blue and it showed what he'd done. How can a Elum be so loud as I can see in your avator? They have high cries to perhaps warn other Elums of danger, to show they're scared, or maybe even if they're angry. Lulu wore glasses because his eyes were sore? He probably thought that if he wore some [sarcasmn]smexxi specks[/sarcasm], he'd be popular. Does chanted guys actually have blue eyes, as also seen on Lulu in Good Ending? Possessed creatures do indeed have blue eyes, and a blue grow around their body. If you see one of the AE FMVs, I you'll notice the Glukkons Abe possesses are blue. I think. Is Boneworkz is one of the hardest executive office levels out of FeeCo Depot Office, Boiler Room, and Slig Barracks Executive Office? It all depends on the player's opinion really. I thought it was a little harder compared to the other industrial levels. The bone grinders, falling rocks, mines, Slogs were a great addition, I enjoyed it. :) What was Aslik the vice president of? I think it's FeeCo Depot... How did General Dripik got so many badges? He probably fought in lots of wars and did great things to earn them. Who was the Slig of the Month in Slig Barracks, if there was such thing? There's a Slig of the Month? Which mudokon has the longest hair? What? I'm not sure, but the Shamans tend to have very long hair. |

This is likely the/one of the best images of a Slig without a mask. They're not really that bad, but I suppose Glukkons see things differently:
http://oddworldlibrary.net/archives/...=CAMO0002.jpg1 The original Shaman concept art for MO had the longest feathers, though it was 'toned down due to technical reasons' (though so much it hardly looks special at all in any way now, it looks fairly feeble). Other than that, currently the ones we know of now are Tomahawkers, though the longest Mudarcher head feather may be longer, but it's hard to tell. |
WHAT? WHAT?! MUDKONS HAVE FEATHERS?! I've seen hair growing on the head! o_o btw i luv to ask questions
and zerox, what you did to me with that website, is that the internet froze, and it wont close when i press x. >_> How come mudokon workers cannot jump like Abes? Except when going into portal. What was the name of this thing that was made by a fuzzle eye(s?)? Again, What is UXB?! What glukkon is purple? o_o How pissed is Director Phleg at Abes? There are more boilers, such as in the Bonewerkz? What is Phleg the Director of? [Could it be simpily Bonewerkz?] What accent is the Soulstorm Master speaking? WHERE WAS THE SOULSTORM MASTER BORN IN??? o_o In the Good Ending of with the bomb on the ship, who actually set this up? Because it said, "Guess Who?". I'm talking about MO GE (GE = Good Ending) Was there any other kind of foods in Soulstorm Brewey and Rupture Farms? |
You don't have much imagination, do you?

do you want me to repeat the questions?

Now you're spamming, AbeX300, AND NO ONE LIKES THAT. >:C
Look, it's not that your questions are dumb. It's just many of them really shouldn't require answering. Oddworld shouldn't be picked apart like that. Over-analyzing isn't good, for any grand work of fiction. There are many aspects of Oddworld that were intended to be comical in nature and should be left in that respect. Others like "why is a glukkon purple?" are just silly and random. I'll answer some questions which are worthy and able to be answered. :
:

Why does everyone assume Slig's have red eyes? They have red visors that make them see everything as red. That doesn't mean they have red eyes.
|
It's because that Big Bros' visors have transparent lenses, and their eyes are still appear red and glowing.
|
:
I didn't notice that, I need to get over the lack of sound in MO and play it again. |
Actually, a these Big Bros are the Sligs you can only find in art work. I don't believe the Sligs in MO actually have transparent lenses.

I STILL NEED MORE QUESTIONS ANSWERED IN POST 432 -.-

Aaaaaaaaaand it looks like someone didn't read/understand my post.
And this is when I leave the thread because I get ashamed of myself for becoming pissed off about this. |
