So apparently emotionless characters with no personality or depth are interesting now. The mother's more of a psychopath than the kid is.

Emotionless? What are you talking about? The character's personalities and emotional depth are the whole point of the film...

Nepsotic 03-30-2014 03:44 PM

Well then, they didn't do it very well.

Holy Sock 03-30-2014 03:57 PM

I think they did it very well. Particularly with the Mother.

Nepsotic 03-30-2014 04:01 PM

Really?! She was the worst. She showed less emotion than the character that supposedly has no emotions (even though he shows anger and vicousness towards his mother).

Holy Sock 03-30-2014 04:06 PM

Man... you need to take a while then watch that film again...

Nepsotic 03-30-2014 05:38 PM

I'd really rather not.

Wings of Fire 03-30-2014 06:04 PM

It warms my heart to see some incisive and well thought out debate going on in these forums. I thought we'd lost the art.

Nepsotic 03-31-2014 06:38 AM

At least something's actually happening.

Crashpunk 04-02-2014 04:11 AM

I watched Gravity last night.

The visual effects were just absolutely stunning. Some of the best I've ever seen in a sci-fi. I kinda wished I saw it at the cinema in 3D because the film had obvious designed 3D effects which would of looked amazing.

The film was pretty predicable in places but it still made me go on the edge of my seat. The acting was top notch, Sandra Bullock really captured the feeling of being alone and scared. And the film was very short. But the length was perfect as it would of otherwise dragged on a bit.

Great film. A perfect thing to watch just to escape for a little while. The documentary about Space Debris in the special features was also really interesting.

Dynamithix 04-02-2014 05:26 AM

I watched Kids, a movie about, well, kids hanging out in New York banging girls and doing drugs. Fucking disturbing honestly, especially since all the actors are like 17 at the oldest. Good film, but it was pretty sick overall.

OANST 04-02-2014 08:37 AM

I love the soundtrack. It's pretty much a Folk Implosion album.

STM 04-02-2014 11:15 AM

Lol folk.

Chugging through Lost, mid-way through Season 2 and only had a few spoilers given away by none other than my gf's mum who just had to tell me about 'this bit which doesn't give anything that important away'.

Also I watched the first five minutes of an Ayn Rand documentary. Laughed myself shitless and turned it off.

OANST 04-02-2014 11:29 AM

Not 'folk', stupid dumb person. FOLK IMPLOSION!

STM 04-02-2014 12:09 PM

Lol folk implosion.

MeechMunchie 04-02-2014 01:44 PM

That's what happened when the Wurzels filled their tractor with dark matter.

Daxter King 04-03-2014 07:36 PM

Recently watched Watchmen for the first time(The Ultimate Cut) and really loved it, even if the comic scenes dragged and it took a bit for the movie as a whole to pic up speed. It honestly felt more like a character piece for most of the film until the tail end when all the weaves started wrapping together. Honestly cant think of a superhero film I enjoyed more, definitely picking up the graphic novel soon.

Dynamithix 04-04-2014 05:58 AM

I watched Gummo. What a strange film. I didn't really understand it, but I guess it's not supposed to be a plot-heavy movie anyway, just white trash people doing white trash stuff. I enjoyed it though, it was interesting to watch.

Dynamithix 04-08-2014 12:34 AM

I saw Her. I really liked it, very emotional movie to say the least. Joaquin Phoenix's acting was very good.

MA 04-16-2014 11:21 AM

i've been watching the second series of The Trip, called The Trip To Italy (what a transformation), but only two episodes have been broadcast so far so these clips are from the first series. basically Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon go around restaurants, eating and shit, and taking the piss out of each other. that's it for thirty minutes. some is scripted but most of their banter is ad-libbed, which is always better.

STM 04-17-2014 11:10 AM

I watched the shitty Ju-on: The Grudge and was disappointed that once again, something that was supposed to epitomise the horror genre was just kinda...meh. I mean, the bit at the end where the grudge monster thing is crawling towards the blonde woman was kinda cool, but damn the rest of it was kinda tame.

I guess this means I'm well'ard or something.

E: I should point out that this was the god awful Hollywood remake and not the original.

Vyrien 04-18-2014 07:59 AM

I watched the Grudge with my friend, it's hilarious because he gets really freaked out by stuff like that.

The prize goes to the second one though where the teacher and that girl's classmates suddenly turn into cows.

Nepsotic 04-18-2014 03:45 PM

Aw, look at modern Hollywood trying to be scary, isn't it precious?

STM 04-18-2014 04:55 PM

I'm gonna try One Missed Call soonish. I need my fix.

.:ANIME WARNING FOR OANST:.

Just finished the first series of Attack on Titan. It's not as amazing as I was hoping but dammmn it's still pretty cool. Oh and you gotta love how the Japanese pronounce those stereotypical central-European names. Also WoF you should be proud, I'm watching the Japanese version rather than what I've heard to be the crappy dubbed version.

.:NON-ANIME WARNING FOR PEOPLE NOT OANST:.

I also just watched the Haunting in Connecticut the other day, that had some pretty freakydeaky moments in it, I was impressed! Watching the second one tonight.

Wings of Fire 04-23-2014 03:38 PM

Actually I've heard the dub is very good with the exception of a few weird scripting decisions. You can read more about it here, but basically Mikasa becomes snarky (She's not), Armin becomes arrogant (Like hell he is?) and Eren waxes poetic about their plight (lol what).

Still the best thing to come out of the franchise.

They completely changed most of the main characters personalities though! Levi becomes this wise cracking smart-arse instead of the brooding anti-hero he is. Also the dialogue in general seems pretty awful.

Also, dat video.

Nate 04-23-2014 07:54 PM

I saw The Lego Movie last night. The ending didn't make me cry. No, sirree... definitely not.

Job McYossie 04-23-2014 09:57 PM

Oh come on, not even a little bit?

Nate 04-23-2014 11:06 PM

It was hayfever, I swear!
