You know, this kind of reminds me of a forum I used to be a member of; where the Mods were the ones who were slaves to trends. Anyway, one time it was Sea Ponies, all the Mods changed their avatars and usernames to one of the the main characters, and they'd sing The Sea Pony Song every time they infracted someone. It was quite a thing to behold.
