Just played Skyrim. The game crashed on me THREE times. But a part from that it's really fun. :D
Love my overweight, black and green Argonian. The only thing is, everyone overweight in Skyrim. :D |
I bet you're playing on the PS3 if your game crashes that often.
|
Ah the crashes. Fortunately mine usually happen just after an autosave. Was annoying when I was running somewhere from Riften and had to start all over though. I think our crashes are happening due to unpatched game though. Don't see why we haven't yet, actually, considering that we don't have any mods...
Me and my boyfriend have been fighting more actively over control of the one working PC for playing Skyrim lately. He's playing Skith the Argonian mage, I'm playing Hildegarde the Nordic barbarian princess. I'm unfortunately already planning a Dunmer mage to play next in my head... I'd originally started playing as a Khajiit but thought I'd try a blunter approach before the sneaky-sneak. And of course, on both characters I managed to somehow kill a useful NPC (with Hilde it was Adrianna, I loved that woman and somehow she died ;_;... and the catperson killed Faendel after an unsuccessful pickpocket attempt). And I'm annoyed because I've barely encountered any dragons. I even had one flee. I didn't even hit you yet, you scaredy-dragon! Come back and eat skyforged steel ya twat! >: ( |

Yep that's what happen to me. It happen more then six times now. But funny thing is I got rid of some Game Files and it help. (Metal Gear Solid 4 takes some much room) Right now am playing as an Argonian. (As you know) I just massing a round. Doing some side quests and robbing people. I don't know why but I playing really evil this time unlike any other RPG I've been playing. Like there was this mail man going to the king to give him a message and I went up behind and took the message. So he would go to the king and get his head cut off. And I saw this redguard trying to kill this bear. So I took his horse and he short the dam thing. The horse REALLY did take a arrow to the knee :D I do tons of crime when I'am outside the city. But never inside the/an city. |
Yeah, the games crashed on me 2 or 3 times so far. It hasn't been a big deal, though, since I save often (plus autosave if plentiful), but is still pretty annoying.
Also, I started a new character last night only to place through teh main storyline (which is glitched to hell in my main file, annoyingly). He's a Redguard warrior, and I'm going to build him as a two-handed tank character. I know I should've chosen an Orc or a Nord, but I really really wanted my dude to look like Lando Calrissian. |
Sometimes it pays to read the books in the Elder Scrolls games. For a bonus part of a video game that only a small percentage of the player base will actually bother to read, they're surprisingly well-written.
(also, only after 55 hours into Skyrim did I realise that there was a "sprint" key... I thought the difference between walking and running was sprinting for some reason. Derp.) |

So.... My stance on Skyrim so far...
I really like it. It's different from Morrowind and Oblivion, but it kinda takes me back to when I used to play morrowind. I feel really immersed when I play, and the combat is really fun(though I don't quite understand it yet). The one thing I really hate though is the UI.... it's total poop. But I keep being too lazy to download a mod. I guess I'll do that. Also the new journal is annoying. I liked the more in depth one, rather than the short descriptions of goals. But all in all, I love it =) However, I'm not addicted yet. I don't go through withdrawal when I dont play. |
still waiting for spell editor...
|
Yey! I installed the SkyUI mod... Fantastic :) I shall also install the Categorized Favorites mod when I have time. Then I'm good to go ^^
These mods really improve the experience for me. |
Ugh can i ask if anyone knows,i have an ebony sword, and i favourited it,and everytime i use a bow or something when i equipt it,it always goes to my left hand, and i selected it to right hand becouse i use a shield on my left hand.... :[

@T-nex - One of my friends doesn't like Skyrim 'cause of its menu system, and I find that a big shame since he's missing out on an otherwise awesome game. I do kind of agree with him that the menu sucks, but it's not THAT bad. However maybe this can persuade him to try it out again... Thanks.
http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1326160210 Anyway, while reading a wiki page about werewolves, I read about the Ring of Hircine a while ago... Then decided to do the quests for it since I was in the nearby area. After some trial and error to find out the right options for the quest in order to get it, I am now a proud Ring of Hircine owner! Unlimited werewolf transformations FTW! I didn't bother getting a horse since sprinting was almost as fast. Being a werewolf is a little useless for combat apart from the perks (you can't heal yourself with spells or loot), but now it's the best "Horse" ever. Pity about the 1000 gold bounty I got simply by transforming near some passing Whiterun guards that happened to be out in the middle of nowhere for some stupid reason. Also it's a little funny that my cat became a werewolf considering she's named after my worgen WoW rogue alt character (who in turn is named after one of the bots from UT2004... How original I am). |
It's ironic that Khajit make the best werewolves. Beastform benefits from their unarmed combat bonus.
I always liked the werewolf for combat. The kill animations that turn up later on are brutal, and I find a perverse enjoyment in eating Thalmor. And while the battle can go very wrong very quickly, so long as you make a beeline for the most powerful mage and charge him down, you can kill him before he even gets back up. |
I don't know why people are complaining about the UI in Skyrim. I think its fantastic, much better thab Oblivion's.
|
Are you on console? If so, then you probably don't consider "big enough to read from across the room" a negative.
|
@ Mr. Bungle
On PC it's hell.... Having to do all that scrolling. With the UI Mod, is so much better. Way smaller text, and you can also sort items by weight, which is extremely useful. SkyUI simply gives you a better grip on the items. But good for you for liking the UI I guess. |
I like the UI too, and I don't do much scrolling.
Then again, I do organise my things. |
The UI was most definitely designed for consoles. I hate it, I much preferred Oblivion's UI. The skill tree is alright, but everything else, including the awful favourites menu, sucks imo.
|
I hate organizing stuff x_x So yea.... not for me. Much easier with a simple button.
I'd love a UI in the old Morrowing/Oblivion style though... or at least something more... 'olden'. |
The Oblivion UI was a mess. I couldn't even play the main damn storyline because I couldn't find the quest objectives.
|
And once again we conclude that Morrowind was the best thing ever.
With the Tribunal journal fix, I mean. |
I've never played Morrowind
I've played Oblivion and Skyrim Therefore Morrowind sucks. My logic is flawless. |
Morrowind is boring. That or I didn't have the patience to get to the fun parts.
Lando (my Redguard warrior) is coming along pretty well. Today I made a full suit of Dwarven armor, got an awesome war axe, took over Whiterun with the Stormcloaks and killed my first Lich. Oh, and I can actually do the main storyline without getting fucked over on this file, which is cool. Parthurnax or whatever is a cool guy. |

The upside is lonely atmosphere.* The downside is there's not much going on. *Which is the easiest way to absorb a player, rather than say, photorealism or convincing NPCs, which weren't possible at the time. |

It was on Xbox too, if you still have one of those. But I haven't played it either.
I'm trying to max out my Alchemy skill. This is the most irritating grind so far. Smithing was much easier. If taken to riding the carriages in a circuit around the hold capitals, cleaning out the apothecaries. I got to level 75 on hunter-gathering alone, but it's too slow for that now. |
i know a great way of levelling conjuration, repeatedly cast soul trap on a dead body, it levels super fast, i know conjuration isnt something you want levelling as much as say, two-handed or something, but it does a lot to your overall level, (If your below 30 that is, because it takes me ages to level up now)
|
Conjuration's cool. Summoning daedra and resurrecting the dead is fun. It's not an issue for me, it levels up rapidly enough while filling soul gems in the wilds. But I am interested in leveling all skills to earn perks.
|
Any news on DLC? I'd even settle for rumors at this point.
