Becuase you have a mine car instead. And mabey Elum dosn't live in those kind of locations in AE, the only undustralized enivroment is Necrum jungle, and you wound't expect Elums to live there.

Probably the same inhabitant that drank to much tea while making the booklet and that putted 2 bada boombats :p

the official name is D. Caste Rider, and it sounds like The Castraitor
He is the one who de-pants :p

EA did the manual, OWI did the credits. :p
I noticed this two, which made me wonder if 'The Olden Steef' is the correct name to use for him, because I think he's only called that in the credits (in The Ending, he is referred to by the grubb as the "Old Steef!").

mudling 04-09-2005 02:20 PM

here's a question that is probibly obvious and might contain spoilers:
when you get to the boat for the first time, a grub runs up to you. is that grubb the leader, or is it just a grubb soldier and the red things on it's back are arrows?

Oddish 04-09-2005 02:27 PM

It may not the be leader, the Grubb leader is Freyda Erveting.

Esus 04-09-2005 02:36 PM

If you're talking about the one that dies, then it's just a soldier.
The leader doesn't show up anywhere at the boats cave.

mudling 04-09-2005 02:37 PM

oh ok, thanks esus, so it's just a soldier.
so if does that mean the leader you meet in the first village goes to last legs? i thought each settlement has it's own leader, but i guess there could be a leader of all the grubbs.

Oddish 04-09-2005 02:43 PM

*spoilers*

Heres a question.

Who stole Stranger's cloths and crossbow when he was captured by the outlaws? And why did they do it? What ever happend to them?

mudling 04-09-2005 02:50 PM

*spoilers*
i'm pretty sure you already know this but, it was the grubbs. they gave you a better crossbow and armor in return, maybe it was a different tribe, but, they tell you that they saved you. it's a bit annoying when i bit a lot of good things, then lost them all when the grubbs took them.

Oddish 04-09-2005 02:59 PM

I see, mabey I didn't remember the Grubb saving Stranger.

Esus 04-09-2005 03:25 PM

The grubbs 'rescued' them when they saved his life. They probably didn't give them back because they realised they were a disguised, useless, and they had better clothes for him.

Wil 04-10-2005 07:02 AM

Grubbs refer to him as the Olden Steef in the Grubb Village, though.

a moderater has to do it like xavier or t-nex or someone like that

Excuse me? Just to show you how furious I am, I'm going to merge this with the Q&A thread. Roar!

*merges*

EDIT: The apparent double post is just the result of a merged thread.

It says in the art book that native Mudokons have either been freed, or were never slaves...But, if Sam is in captivity, how can any Muds not be slaves from the very moment of their birth?....

Observe:-
:

Q: If most of the prominent Oddworldian species breed like hive insects (that is, with a single Queen producing hordes of sterile workers) and the Mudokon Queen, Sam, is in a Glukkon facility, then how are the free born Mudokon born in the first place?

Alf: Hmm... is that where I came from? My foster slig always told me he found me underneath a dew-covered Spooce Shrub on a sunny spring day. I always thought it sounded kinda romanticized...

Oh, that wasn't really very helpful … It gets more confusing : there are Mudokon tribes scattered all over Mudos. One way it could work is if the sum of the age of the remaining Native Mudokons and the length of time Sam has been in captivity is equal to or less than forty years. We know now Sam is the only Mudokon Queen, but there may have been free Queens who have died in the last few decades, leaving Sam as the only Queen.

oh guys I have a hard question. in ao you get to ride elum in scarabania and paramonia but how come elum never appered in ae thats strange

Woah, it's almost as if this question hasn't been answered a gazillion times already. Read the goddamned Forums FAQ.

:

Well, no, they have separate character profiles.

:

Yes, she goes to Last Legs. The Grubbs tell you that. She's also not a political leader, merely a spiritual guide helping her people to overcome oppression.

:

I see, mabey I didn't remember the Grubb saving Stranger.

They ambush D. Caste Raider's hideout and release him from bondage. Er, you know, the ropes.

Because Elum took up a lot of memory and AE was such a more complex game that they couldn't fit him in.

Hunk of Steef 04-12-2005 05:31 PM

Is Elum the name of Abes mount, the name of that species, or both?
EDIT: Before I forget, What purpose is the sligs mask. Can they not breathe whatever Oddworlds air is made of?

The Marching Mudokon 04-13-2005 01:20 AM

Elum is the species name and Abe's pet. There are a couple of reasons sligs have masks. 1. Glukkons hate looking at their faces so they force sligs to where masks. 2.They also act as gas masks and I think NVGs (Night Vision Goggles).

mudling 04-13-2005 02:41 PM

one question, was there anything official saying that the quintoligy had to involve the past characters of the quintoligy and get their own moons?

Nate 04-13-2005 03:13 PM

The AO manual did say that past characters you may have not noticed may pop up in ways you never expected (I'm paraphrasing here).

As for the moons, I think Lorne said in an interview that each quintologist will have his/her own moon. There are varying stories about how the moons came into existence. Do a search in the forums and you'll find out way more than you wanted to know.

mudling 04-13-2005 03:21 PM

thanks, searching....now.

Hunk of Steef 04-13-2005 07:00 PM

I wish Stranger would have got a moon.

Dipstikk 04-13-2005 07:11 PM

The moon is a quintology thing. Abe and Munch already have two moons.

Now, it seemed corny when Munch got one. You want a third moon for Stranger? And with what? A hoof print? Nah, come on. ;)

And besides, take into consideration that moons control...planety...stuff. Like tides. Mudos would be underwater with that many moons.

We're gonna run out of moons quickly. And do you know how hard it is to keep burning those foot and hand prints into the moons with a laser?!

Hunk of Steef 04-13-2005 07:20 PM

The Ow laser of doom is more powerful than you think, Dipstikk.

Seriously, are you new members intentionally ignoring the sticky thread called ‘New Members: Please Read’? Don't bother now, it's in need of an update, and I'll be providing it within the week.

Hunk of Steef 04-14-2005 06:29 PM

The new members thing has Q and A? Sorrrry.

I'm working from memory from a number of years back (probably the old oddworld.com) but I vaguely remember a story Lorne told about someone from GT who hated Oddworld so he set up a meeting between his boss and Lorne (hoping the boss would be disappointed and cut OWI's budget). The boss ended up being so impressed that he increased OWI's budget at the expense of that guy.

Is that my memory playing tricks on me or did this really happen? Does anyone have the original version of the story for me to reread?

Hunk of Steef 04-24-2005 06:56 AM

I don't remember that but I also never used to get on the internet so I probably just missed it. Sounds interesting, though.

big bro boogie 05-06-2005 07:59 AM

well, i guess not, for evrybody assumes there will be no future game of oddworld(maybe fangus though).
Or it all just has to be a filthy lie.

Edit: WHOOPS DIDNT SEE THE PAGE NUMBERS!,(silly ol' me)
